Happy 71st Bob Dylan

Photo

Bob turns 71 today. He is about a year older than Jim Fregosi.

Just watch the damn video and understand it was made in prehistory but the lyrics reference partying a little too hard with one of the Angels (probably Bo Belinsky) who had just flown east to start a road trip from LA.

RIP MCA Beastie Boys Adam Yauch

Adam Yauch, better known as MCA of the Beastie Boys has passed away at age 47 from cancer. In addition to creating genre-busting music with an apocalyptic cross-cultural impact, he was an impassioned activist against the subhuman Chinese Communist party's murder and repression of the Tibetan People.
ROLLING STONE published his obituary earlier today.

Sometime early in the 2002 season, after a Rally Monkey-led big comeback win by the Angels, the stadium DJ played the Beastie's Brass Monkey as the elated crowd cleared off into the night. It seemed so appropriate, so joyful and yet so brash and unapologetically raging in sheer conquest that it defined to me a lot of what that season was about.

I linked Brass Monkey here because of that connection and seeing as everyone else is going to post the Sabotage video (as it is the greatest music video of all time) and this vid did no have commercials, here ya go.

$200 in CASH Prizes in DraftStreet's One Day Contest!

Which of these guys earn YOU a cash prize?

There’s a new way to play fantasy baseball that turns the season long grind into quick one night leagues. And the best part is that you can win cash every single day. You draft a team for one night and get paid out as soon as the games end that night. DraftStreet.com is at the forefront of this new trend in the fantasy world and is giving us a great promotion: a FREE one-day fantasy league with $200 in prizes exclusively for Halos Heaven fans.

This free contest will be salary-cap style drafting where everyone tries to assemble the best team out of the available players. You will have a $100,000 budget to build a team of 14 players consisting of the following: Catcher, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, 3 OF, 2 Utility, 2 SP, 1 RP, and 1 P. Each MLB player has been assigned a price based on their expected fantasy performance.

You can adjust your roster up until the contest starts on Friday May 4th at 4:05 PM Pacific Time, at which time your rosters will lock and the Live Scoreboard will be available.

CLICK HERE to sign up for free and register for the Halos Heaven $200 Freeroll on DraftStreet.com.

All Draftstreet Members that signed up through the Halos Heaven Freeroll last year will be allowed to play as well as any new Draftstreet Members. Any existing DraftStreet members that did not come through the Freeroll last year will be redirected to a $350 sitewide Freeroll.

Video has come to SB Nation. We launched SB Nation's official Youtube channel on March 1st with some pretty large ambitions: let's try something new. Across the entire network, we approach the world of sports from a different angle. The passion, expertise, and first-rate analysis and discussion that takes place every day on our sites is something to be proud of and we didn't want to ruin that with a bunch of talking heads in suits and ties with no game-footage rights.

We've got humor, expert analysis, weirdness, video gifs, and incredible storytelling all in one place and we're really proud of what this thing has become. Right now, we're producing over 30 new original videos every single week. Be sure to subscribe to not miss anything. Here's a rundown of the offerings:

Albert Pujols: All Those Little Things Add Up

Photo

I recently changed jobs. My job is pretty easy, the type of work where you can pull a guy off the street and within a couple of weeks he'd be doing fine. While doing this job, the company I work for likes to track a person's production as they do the task assigned. Typically, my production is in the 120-130% range, in other words, I'm the Albert Pujols of my department, but after working in my previous department for a little over a year, I changed jobs.

Actually, I didn't change job, but rather I changed the department in which I did my job. The different departments within my company work various hours in order to avoid having too many people working at one time and running into each other. The situation at home had changed for me, so I needed to shift my hours a bit. I now do the exact same job, just in a different area.

The Rob Neyer Mailbag

ST. PETERSBURG, FL - APRIL 25: Outfielder Bobby Abreu #53 of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim breaks his bat against the Tampa Bay Rays during the game at Tropicana Field on April 25, 2012 in St. Petersburg, Florida. (Photo by J. Meric/Getty Images)

I made a video tonight breaking down what ails the team and found out too late that the microphone was unplugged. The only thing worse than a video of me talking on and on is a video of me talking on and on on mute. So here is Rob Neyer's latest video and I will be back with a vid tomorrow...
