When I first read that Hatcher told Trout to be more aggressive early in the count I was mortified. But maybe he actually knows what he's doing and i should quit with my arm chair general shtick.
I think Trout should be more aggressive than he was
on first pitches as well, but overall I think he needs to keep being selective and make sure that he continues to draw his fair share of walks and then some.
My problem with Hatcher stems from what it seems like the Angels goal is of doing with that first pitch. Swinging at a first pitch is not an issue to me if it’s a pitch you can drive. However it seems like too many Angels abs are wasted on first pitch swings with weak grounds or flys to the opposite field from guy who don’t have opposite field power.
I wonder if someone could run the numbers on the Angels and how they do on first pitch swings relative to the rest of the league. I’d bet the Angels wouldn’t see their slash line increase as much as some of the more patient teams.
This goes for most angel fans. Everyone thinks they could be a
manager.

Why did you put 12 words in your headline and then only 1 in the body?
It seems like you could have just put them all in either one of those.
Also, your statement is kind of ironic considering your “LEGIT Nationals Trade Proposal” fanpost from 3 days ago.
But, whatever, I’m actually more interested in the rationale for your odd word spacing than your contradicting beliefs.

I'm really concerned about the effect of hatcher's advice to trout and conger's inconsistant playing

Why do anything at all?
Whatever Mike Trout had working for him was, you know, working.
Why not just leave him be and let him ask Pulols for help whenever he needs it.
SportsChicken - February 11, 2012
Because in the minors
Ptichers throw a lot fewer first pitch strikes.
