Because a healthy core of Pujols and Morales is a serious backbone. Torii Hunter is actually still pretty great when he’s not injured; he just plays injured half the time.
Just not great news either. He’s further along than he was last offseason, when in February, if I remember correctly, he had just barely been cleared to run on a treadmill deweighted. He cleared that hurdle, but once he started running unassisted he was never able to go 100%. And remember he was crushing the ball in bp then too.
So, we continue to wait and hope until something more materializes.
hitting is not the issue with Morales. And the fact that he is even taking BP, something he couldn’t do on crutches or in a cast. So the fact that he’s taking BP is what I take from this.
In that case, he seems to be about 3 months ahead of last year’s schedule. I don’t think the Angels have any plans on him playing a lot of first, so maybe he will be fine to DH when the season starts.
As many of us on here.
Expect the worst, pray for the best..
Im also not getting my hopes up, but dude it would be soooo sick if kendry came back with 90% of his former power with atleast 70% of his former speed. He might not be able to go First to Third ever again but if he could still hit some doubles on deep balls to the gap then i could really live with that.
f he can be the 2009 version of Morales, having the 1-2 punch of Pujols & Morales will make us a whole lot better than any other combo of players on our team.
We have quite a ways to go yet. And there’s still some work for the Angels to do and figure out.
The more thought I’ve given to Pujols, it’s obviously imperative we have a big bat behind him, and a healthy Kendrys is the only one who really can fill that (huge) void completely. Hunter, Wells, Trumbo, etc just won’t get it done day in and day out.
They have different styles, but Jim Rome has a schtick just as much as Cowherd does. Rome’s is “telling it like it is,” which is just another way of saying “his opinion, but really loud and forceful.”
Wells for Napoli - that's gonna get you back to the playoffs?
What?
Yeah, I don’t think so, Tony Reagins. Is this the same guy that went out and scored Dan Haren? Did you wake up on the wrong side of a bottle of Jack that morning, take out your phone, dial the youngest GM you could think of and hope you could outsmart the new guy on the block? How’s that hangover feelin’ a year later?
And I still don’t like his TV show, but if you listen to his radio show enough, it grows on you. His “schtick” works. And his callers and e-mailers are really what make the show great. I don’t always agree with his takes, but I went from hating his guts to loving him after I started listening to his radio show more extensively. Total 180.
Because that’s all I can be. Fortunately the 1st half of the season is softer then the 2nd half so realistically if he can get back to some kind of form by the break we will be in really good shape

Who is he talking about?
Shackleford - December 15, 2011
Thanks. Post fail.
hauldog - December 15, 2011
Glad to hear he is talking about Morales
I thought it was either him or Trumbo. Do you know how Trumbo is coming along in his recovery?
Shackleford - December 15, 2011
Trumbo is feeling great
Running with no pain but still re-habbing per the team’s request/command.
BigGame48 - December 15, 2011
Scioscia said that about Jim Rome?
I always took him for a bit of a fruit booty. Nice to know he can hit i guess

This makes me so excited for the season
getting Pujols and Kendrys completely changes the offense of this team. With our pitching, we could win 100 games easy.
Balls and Strikes - December 15, 2011
Interesting...
SportsChicken - December 15, 2011
Whoa - let's slow down, people...
Running at 90% of your bodyweight on an assisted treadmill is NOT the same as running at 90% total capacity. It sounds like he has a ways to go.
V-Hawk Angelorum - December 15, 2011
Can we find a way to deweight him while he is running the basepaths?
moralesforpresident - December 15, 2011
P90X
BruinHalo - December 15, 2011
P90X2
5thStarter - December 15, 2011
i did p90x
p90x2 scares me
howiestheman - December 15, 2011
p90x is awesome
cant wait for part 2
SCHalo - December 15, 2011
It's intense, but if you were able to handle P90X, you could totally do P90X2.

I Don't Get My Hopes Up
Because a healthy core of Pujols and Morales is a serious backbone. Torii Hunter is actually still pretty great when he’s not injured; he just plays injured half the time.
Kernel - December 15, 2011
Torii as a number 5 batter is great. Torii as a 3 or 4 like he has been is below average.
WasianCU - December 15, 2011
So he's running at 360 pounds?
I guess this is good news, although I hope they got a heavy duty treadmill.
Gorbachav5 - December 15, 2011
Hardy har
He actually looked fairly slim to me when I saw him in the dugout at the end of the season.
Rally Manatee - December 15, 2011
Not bad news....
Just not great news either. He’s further along than he was last offseason, when in February, if I remember correctly, he had just barely been cleared to run on a treadmill deweighted. Hmm
This is coming from a guy who paid a clubhouse assistant to ride the bike on his behalf when he was a dodger.
Dfresh - December 15, 2011 via mobile
Mathis and Wood crush the ball in BP too......
mustard_man - December 15, 2011
srsly. comparing morales to mathis a bit silly
river-z - December 15, 2011
In BP, Wood crushed them over the fence and Mathis crushed them high and deep to second base.
snowhor - December 15, 2011
The comparison that is silly is declaring any player was "crushing the ball in BP"
mustard_man - December 15, 2011
The Point Is
hitting is not the issue with Morales. And the fact that he is even taking BP, something he couldn’t do on crutches or in a cast. So the fact that he’s taking BP is what I take from this.
jjackflash - December 15, 2011
Me too.
I also think about the fact that he most likely is torquing/putting pressure on his bad leg while “crushing BP.” I am glad he is able to do that
hauldog - December 15, 2011
This sounds like last February
In that case, he seems to be about 3 months ahead of last year’s schedule. I don’t think the Angels have any plans on him playing a lot of first, so maybe he will be fine to DH when the season starts.
JeffJoiner - December 15, 2011
I'm going a little nuts having to wait for Spring Training.
but I guess K-mo could probably benefit from all the time he can get.
river-z - December 15, 2011
I'll go ahead and be optimistic
I guess it’s better to get my hopes and be disappointed than to not get my hopes up and still be disappointed.
Rally Manatee - December 15, 2011
Trying not to get my hopes up
But if he could somehow return to 2009 form, Angels have to be THE favorite in MLB
stevefinleyallstars - December 15, 2011
I would love to have a healthy 100% Kowbell in the line up.
But i’ll believe it when I see it.
halofolife - December 15, 2011
i think i share the same attitude
As many of us on here.
Expect the worst, pray for the best..

C.A._Rep_Los_ANGELS - December 15, 2011 via mobile
Would be nice to see some lefty power in the line up again...
I could be wrong, but I think the only home run an angel lefty hit into the RF pavilion was Branyan’s vs the Dodgers. I miss those.
BigGame48 - December 15, 2011
Bobby Abreu
Branyan sucks
LAA101010 - December 15, 2011
Ah yes... one.
According to the ESPN HR tracker 2 of Bobby’s 3 HRs he hit at the big A landed over in the old bullpen area down the line….
His bomb off Rich Harden on 9/25 landed in the RF pavilion. I missed that one.
BigGame48 - December 15, 2011
Looks like Callaspo and Conger each put one out there as well...
So a total of 5… Weak sauce.
BigGame48 - December 15, 2011
Let's hope for Kendrys to reemerge 2009 style
3. Pujols 4. Morales
AL West Division Champs
LAA101010 - December 15, 2011
Oh yeah that Callaspo dinger that he himelf couldn't believe.
He was the most stoked dude in the world when he hit it.
Halowitz - December 16, 2011
Hank Conger hit one into those seats on that night against the White Sox when everyone was sending them out.
Halowitz - December 15, 2011
I believe a healthy Morales....
is the key to the next few seasons. I
f he can be the 2009 version of Morales, having the 1-2 punch of Pujols & Morales will make us a whole lot better than any other combo of players on our team.
Angel Hawker - December 15, 2011
Soth could use some of that deweighting.
44FAN - December 15, 2011
why did we sign Pujols if he is better
stupid Dipo
wait it is Pujols so who cares
DAD OF VLAD - December 15, 2011
But what i really want to know......
Does that extra 10% of the weight come from the “s” at the end of his first name….. because if so, I gots me a solution

We have quite a ways to go yet. And there’s still some work for the Angels to do and figure out.

Rex Fregosi - December 15, 2011
Listening to Jim Rome
is like listening to Colin Cowherd, in that all I want to do is punch them in the throat.
Doctor Wu - December 15, 2011
and Skip Bayliss
when we had the Halos Heaven turn into Lebron, that is how I feel watching ESPN…except with Tim Tebow
Halos in DE - December 15, 2011
I actually like Rome.
Cowherd is an idiot most of the time but Rome actually says it was it is. I would notn compare them to each other.
Angelsrthebest101 - December 15, 2011
Both are blowhards
They have different styles, but Jim Rome has a schtick just as much as Cowherd does. Rome’s is “telling it like it is,” which is just another way of saying “his opinion, but really loud and forceful.”

Spird - December 16, 2011
i loved Rome early on
but as always the minute he has access to star players he lays off them. human nature, bit killed it for me.
Rev Halofan - December 17, 2011
Pujols-Morales (circa '09)
would be possibly the best 3-4 punch in baseball.
To go with the best 1-2-3-4 rotation in baseball.
Caseys Kiss of Death - December 15, 2011
My Morales jersey has been partially mauled by the washing machine
Hoping it gets back to the field at the same time Kendrys does.
Commander_Nate - December 15, 2011
I’m going to be optimistic
Because that’s all I can be. Fortunately the 1st half of the season is softer then the 2nd half so realistically if he can get back to some kind of form by the break we will be in really good shape
