Final Score in Anaheim: Angels 6, Royals 4
Ervin Santana has tossed 999 and one-third innings as an Angel, Brian Fuentes has recorded 98 and one third IP with the club. Ervin got career win # 70 tonight and Fuentes recorded his 70th Save as an Angel. When Mark Whicker makes note of this in his nightly plagia--, er baseball notes column on the OC Register Angels blog, remember that you read about this sublime coincidence here first.
Bobby Abreu was a triple shy of the cycle, drove in 4 runs and stayed out of the way of Centerfield sensation Peter Bourjos, making his home field debut at Angel Stadium of Anaheim.

Saw Fleet Pete running from first.
He is one fast Mofo.
red floyd - August 9, 2010
Yeah
Regarding his speed and defense, he has not been oversold. It’s startling to see how quick he is.
rspencer - August 9, 2010
Scoring from 1B? No problem.
Bourjos is the most exciting part of Angels baseball right now. Sad but true.

Usually, I follow the outfielder's actions when a ball is hit to the gap...
instead, this time, I focused on Pete and could not believe how fast his legs were moving. There were two red blurs (his socks) just whipping back and forth. He was hauling ass.

Bobby is forgiven for the brain fart in LF.

I think I've figured out where Scottnak is
Scottnak MIA. Castro addresses commie congress for the first time in 4 years. Coincindence? There are no coincidences. Scottnak has snuck off to Cuba to help Castro revive communist morale. Leaving us with no Panther points tabulator. For shame.
Oh, and Bobby A. for POTG
vladtheimpaler - August 9, 2010
actually
Scottnak is in Vegas and his awol status might involve Club Sapphire (or it might involve the Pinball Museum I told him about)

Anyone else
have access to the PGP scorecard? I um… need to view my balance please.
blast21dave - August 10, 2010
I can't BELIEVE you told him about the pinball museum.
So basically you’re admitting it’s all your fault. Sheesh, I should have known. Scottnak, my apologies for linking you with commie spies.
vladtheimpaler - August 10, 2010
There's a PINBALL MUSEUM?
Awesome!

I heard this guy works the door, he's a real hard ass.

We're 51-2 when leading after 8 innings
What bullpen issues?
RexTookMyStash - August 10, 2010
That's one of my favorite stats.
But the best is: Batters are hitting .400 against ______ (pitcher’s name) when he loses, and .100 when he wins. Dherrr.

I'm liking the aggressive running.
Seeing the stolen bases, hit and runs, and 1st to 3rd stuff again has crystallized in my mind that the Angel’s offensive problems this season can be blamed on power. Yes, power is the problem. In the years gone by, when fans were always crying for the elusive “big bat,” the Angels made do by running aggressively, and won games.
In 2010, our lineup looked like it had a lot more power on opening day, at least 6 guys who could hit at least 20 HR. So, probably without even fully realizing it, the Angels stopped relying on the running game. The problem is, that has made us a 1 dimensional team, and when there is a brown out, a power shortage, we don’t score runs.
Of course, having an unreliable bullpen and only 3 starting pitchers is a problem too. There’s not much more Sosh can do to address the pitching this season, other than call up guys like Kohn and hope they are magical, and hope some other guys like Jepsen and Rodney find themselves. But at least he’s doing something about the offensive woes.
Rally Manatee - August 10, 2010
Good to see Bobby back in form
Hope he keeps it up, I would love to see him get 100 rbi’s again this season. I love his attitude saying hey I’ll hit wherever Sosh thinks I can help the team. Also if Bobby is hot I know the team will win a lot.
