Final Score in Anaheim: Angels 3, Rays 10...
Righty Jordan Walden pitched an inning of relief and his fastball touched 101 Miles Per Hour on more than one pitch. Pretty much the highlight of this pathetic contest, lost early on Ervin Santana sloppiness to the kings of the AL East. Howie Kendrick hit a homer but it was too little too late.
Walden, called up before Sunday's game in which he made his major league debut, threw 18 pitches, 11 of them for strikes. He allowed two hits and recorded a strikeout and two groundouts. If he can master getting a minutia of movement on his Fastball he will be something real special. Walden is 6'5, weighs in at 220 and hails from Fort Worth, Texas, having attended Grayson Junior College, alma mater of "Benedict" John Lackey.

Well he annoyed several posters with his self proclaimed knowledge of baseball,
called into question Soth’s lineups, which by itself would be acceptable, but he included his own revised lineup where he batted Kendrick 3rd, Wood at all, and managed to overlook the catcher’s position completely.

It was a constant case of bitch, bitch, bitch, with that guy. And it was always directed at Scioscia. Now don’t get me wrong, Scioscia pisses me off from time to time (his man-crush for Mathis for example), but overall, how can anybody complain about his tenure? He is obviously the best skipper the Halos have ever had. Has he mismanaged games? Maybe. But Scioscia has made the Angels relevant, and a perennial contender, not too mention our first WS ring. So as far as I’m concerned, Mike gets a free pass. If we suck in 2012, then I’ll worry.

What do the rules say. Something like bitch once or twice but then offer a solution to the problem. All he did was complain. Then finally offered a solution with a lineup with no catcher. He was/is an idiot. So glad he is gone for the sake of an enjoyable experience here at HH.

I went to tonight's game, and all I got was this lousy fleece blanket.
I was sitting on the field level first base side. This is a dead team. I could see it in the way they casually threw the ball around the infield in the first inning. Juan Rivera is a waste of skin! His lethargy and lackadaisical demeanor makes Garret Anderson look like a hyperactive spazz.

Thankfully, it appears that Wilson, Bourjos, Willits, and Walden didn’t get the memo about mailing it in the rest of the season. Seeing at least some hustle (including Walden hustling that fastball of his up to the plate) from these guys gives hope for 2011.

The pretense of contending this year should be over.
10 games out with 35 to play – just not going to happen. Let’s see Trumbo called up and given the rest of the season at 1B to see what he can do. Even if K-Mo is back next year, Trumbo could still help at DH or as a trade chip. Conger can wait until September, but he should also get significant PT when he arrives.

Agreed. Hate to say it, but the season is over.
The fact of the matter is, we have a lineup that can’t provide needed hits, or clutch hits with RISP. And because of our anemic offense, our SP hasn’t been as successful as they should be. And our defense? This is what concerns me the most, despite the fact that all of our lineup is having a sub par year, it’s the inability to play D that scares me. And always playing Mathis Scioscia? Why, skip, why? Our BP is pardon my French, shitty, and there seems to be no fire, or desire to win in this team. 2011 cannot come soon enough for me.

And call up the young dudes? I feel like maybe he’s not willing to accept not making it to the playoffs? Or maybe he doesn’t want to bring up more young guys so that the vets don’t get mad at losing playing time (not that they’re producing anyways). I know rosters expand in September, but that just doesn’t do it for me, not enough time in one month for the minor leaguers to play. Idk.

It’s just Conger and Trumbo. Wait until the rosters expand next week. The team already has three catchers and like 8 guys who play first base.
