Final Score in Anaheim: Angels 3, Rays 4

The only interesting or exciting moments of the Angels game tonight if you are an Angels fan was seeing Peter Bourjos play. Maybe laughing and cheering for a surprisingly competent Juan Rivera starting at 1B. Seeing Michael Kohn record a strikeout. Oh and the funniest thing in history - Hideki Matsui reaching 1B after striking out, funnier than any HBO comedy special since the passing of George Carlin except maybe the Louis Black one.
Seeing Sean Rodriguez succeed while Scott Kazmir failed was like a punch to the stomach. And for the record, if you still live with mom and dad, punches to the stomach are not good, no matter how many WWwhatever matches you watch.

On a much lighter note, our 2011 6-0 inning bullpen looks great
Michael Kohn – ERA 3.48
Francisco Rodriguez – 3.60
Kevin Jepsen – 4.18
Fernando Rodney – 3.91
Halowood - August 23, 2010
yes, although Kohn was very, very lucky tonight
owes Bourjos dinner without a doubt
Quad Fin Rider - August 23, 2010
dont worry
Mike said Kohn pitched great, what a complete idiot. How does he keep his job?
Big Daddy Vlad - August 23, 2010
1st Pitch, 1st Inning
FAIL and BOTG.

Peter Bourjos is the lone bright spot
mathisrocks5 - August 23, 2010
Fleet Pete--owns the entire Angels highlight reel for this game
even the one he didn’t catch looked good
hbhalofan - August 23, 2010
Still saved a HR on that non-catch.
Robviously - August 23, 2010
White boys can jump after all.
44FAN - August 23, 2010
Seeing him tag running to third made me think ... PETER RABBIT
Dude was FLYING.
Downing Rules - August 23, 2010
Mathis isnt a real baseball player, so he isn't blame worthy.
Torii for the blame.
clover_black - August 23, 2010
I still can't believe he only has 12 RBI's on the season.
12 RBI’s and he still gets the majority of PT behind the dish? WTF?
halofolife - August 23, 2010
that was the 1st 2 weeks too, lol
angelskid2210 - August 23, 2010
Oh how the 2009 Mathis worship is replaced by the 2010 hate. LOL
44FAN - August 23, 2010
He hit .211 last year.
His career average is .200.
Robviously - August 23, 2010
For the record 44,
I never drank the Mathis Kool-aid. Not after the ALCS, or his hot start early in the season. Never. I figured by now he’d be where he belongs, Salt Lake or waived.
halofolife - August 23, 2010
i dnt think anyone drank it
Angels_48 - August 23, 2010
Mike has been drinking the Mathis koolaid for years
ask him
Big Daddy Vlad - August 23, 2010
word has it that he didnt finish the Wood kool aid if not he would be playing everyday too
Angels_48 - August 23, 2010
here is the problem I have with Mathis
Mathis is clearly the better defensive catcher and if Iron Mike can be believed ( yeah I know not) defense at catcher is more important than hitting. Mike says it all the time ad naseum but when push comes to shove who plays? Napoli.
That’s the problem I have with Mike he deceives the media and fans and they all kiss his butt and never criticize him for Angel failures but have no problem giving him props when the Angels win. I would include this blog writers as drinking the Mike kool-aid. Not once have they asked him a relevant question or questioned his numerous stupid decisions.
Big Daddy Vlad - August 24, 2010
you are awesome
I’m having a good time reading all of your idiotic posts, I really am.
so where to start with this one…hmmm. I see posts on this site all the time questioning Sosh’s methods. for instance, I saw some yesterday regarding Rivera at 1st. but since you joined the site 4 days ago I’m sure you can easily back up the notion that “Not once have they asked him a relevant question or questioned his numerous stupid decisions.” and I’m not sure the blog writers on this site have access to ask Sosh all these hardline questions you are demanding, this blog does not partake in the same access granted to a FSW reporter, believe it or not.
you saying that Napoli gets more playing time than Mathis is one of the stupider things you’ve said on this blog in your limited time on here. in fact, I would argue the exact opposite is true. and the fact that you are upset that in your head Mathis doesn’t play enough compared to Napoli is downright ridiculous.
keep posting though, perhaps one day one of your posts will have some hindrance of sense.
2pintsofbooze - August 24, 2010
I know this person has since been banned.
But this is the first time I read your response to BDV on this current thread. But this was an interwebz bitch slap! You nailed his sorry ass 2pints!
halofolife - August 27, 2010
Funny.
The failure that is jeff mathis does not negate the failure that is mike napoli.
Stalk somebody worth a shit at baseball, chief.
clover_black - August 23, 2010
Between Mathis or Napoli....
I’m taking Naps. While he may not be the best catcher around, he’s certainly Mathis’ equal, and has the potential to hit. Whereas Mathis has the potential to hit into a DP, pop-up, or K.

Between Natty Ice and Pabst Blue Ribbon...
I’m taking Pabst.
clover_black - August 23, 2010
Pabst is an underrated brew. ;)
But who am I kidding, i’ll drink Natty Ice in a pinch.
halofolife - August 23, 2010
I think you owe Natty Ice an apology, comparing it to Mathis like that.
~MMP~ - August 23, 2010
True.
Between Rat Poison and PBR, i’ll take PBR.
clover_black - August 23, 2010
Without a doubt
PBR is much slower-acting.

If only Peter had caught both balls we would have won
Kazmir = Nibbler BOTS
Most BOTG ever in one season goes to Kazmir

Wait till you see that stud pitcher Alexander Torres pitch a No hitter Vs us
devilson - August 23, 2010
man at this point that "stud" pitcher Scott kazmir could no hit us.
Balls and Strikes - August 24, 2010
Damn. That's pretty harsh.
And true.
halofolife - August 24, 2010
I voted for Mathis.
Because damn. Can’t he do anything?
And really. Bourjos is the ONLY thing worth watching the rest of this year.
Monkeyspanked - August 23, 2010
There's plenty we can watch
We can see how many guys we can get into the lineup below the Mendoza line w/over 100 AB’s, we can see if Napoli can actually strike out 1/3 of his AB’s for the season(30%,Almost there Mikey!), bet to see how many wild pitches Shields can throw in an inning. The list just goes on and on!
aces666high - August 24, 2010
I wonder what is the latest point in the season a team has ever had all 9 hitters below .220?
