the Halos have been playing great baseball. They are about to have a well deserved all-star break. They always have a stronger second half of the season. true. the starting rotation has gotten stronger, but still, the BP is shaky and scary as hell. but, still, overall, the Angels have what it takes to win the AL West this season. I guess the moral of this post is to say that there is nothing to be gained by spew trash and be overly negative. I am not trying to be Pollyanna either, but come on, try to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
/end of quasi-rant/
I didn't say that there aren't things to criticize.
as fans, we need to support the team when they are doing poorly, even more so when they are doing well. I remember the 90’s, when the team sucked. I was a fan then, and I am a fan now.
I've been a fan since 1972, so I know both about support and suckage
Since this is a fan board, it seems like an apt place to criticize the criticizable. I’m in the top 3% of optimists & appreciators here, but I hate seeing bad baseball, and won’t be quiet about it.
Taking off for second base when the pitcher has the ball in his hand is RETARDED. It is as dumb a play as there is in baseball. No wait — getting thrown out trying to steal 3B with 0 or 2 outs is also dumb as a box of hair, and Torii has done that this year, too.
I got no problem with aggressive, what I have is a problem with reckless.
and then just when you're watching a great angels game,
that one episode where Ross and Rachel break up/get back together interrupts the game and starts a marathon of suck. and you were like, “all i wanted to do was watch the game!!”
2009 when the Halos swept the BoSox? that I can watch over, and over and over.. especially the part then they trot out Dave Henderson to throw the first pitch in the 4th game.. I still think that was really low class, even for the ChowdahHeads
I’ve never had PTSD, but I’ve been around people while they’ve dealt with it and gone through it. It’s different than just having something shitty happen in life.
And I felt like your original comment was going to devolve into this, so all I can say is that I hope neither you nor someone you love has to go through it, because it’s attitudes/ignorance like yours that reinforce the stigma mental illness already carries.
It’s not about prescribing “legal drugs,” as some of the more useful treatments are behaviorally based (EMDR, CBT). It’s about understanding that some people can be affected so deeply by events that it’s impossible for other people to understand. All we can do is be supportive, like princeton w/ his friend.
just because I don't buy into today's overly diagnosed society
doesn’t mean that I think I am better than anyone else. I wish everyone the best in dealing with life. Everyone deserves to be happy. And I believe it’s a choice. It’s a choice that is harder for some to figure out than others. Nobody can take away your happiness but yourself. A look in the mirror is a lot cheaper than therapy.
ARLINGTON — The Rangers-Indians game was delayed 16 minutes in the bottom of the fifth inning when an unidentified male fan fell from the second-deck club level and into the lower bowl at the Ballpark in Arlington on Tuesday night.
The fan, sitting in the front row of the club level in Section 235, was reaching for a foul that had sailed over his head and caromed back toward the field. According to a witness, the man turned his back to the field, reached over his head for the foul ball and lost his balance.
He went over the rail and landed on his back in a section of seats below. He was immediately administered medical attention by paramedics and taken off on a stretcher. He was conscious as he left the Ballpark.
many years ago in Chicago ( the 80’s), a group of guys from work went to a White Sox game at Old Comiskey, and one of them fell from the upper deck and died- guys that were there were haunted by the memory of seeing the look in the guy’s eyes as he fell
I’d be tempted to bring him up. At least he’d bring something to the table defensively. Juan isn’t bring anything and in the past I’ve been one of his biggest supporters.
most players nowadays start playing consistenly during the season
If we give him decent abs this year then we know what we have. Instead of just giving him a job and watching him get overmatched. You can’t tell me the Angels aren’t wishing they would have given Wood a hell of a lot more abs before this year when they handed him a job. They would have done something different this offseason and if they hadn’t have counted on Wood at 3rd then we likely are neck and neck with the Rangers. Wood has been horrible…..
Howie goes Right field, right field right field, and then when him going that way is probably a good idea with a huge hole on that side, that is when he pulls it
Ok them showing Torii being two completely different spots
during different innings. What the hell is going on there? Don’t we pay people to scout games and analyze hit charts to see where to play? Don’t we pay people to make sure our OF’s are in fact playing there? How does that happen?
I hadn’t considered the grammatically correct way to express this thought, however, I do think that it is a fairly common misconception of the grammar. Thanks for pointing it out, much appreciated.
“Mine as well learn to spell his name right before he gets called up. It’ll be less embarrassing that way..”? Try to produce grammatically sound sentences first…
What happened in texas now?

Right, well, I'm negative about Torii's baserunning, because it's no good

Yes. However you know as well as the next that that is part of the game. It is better than standing there and
being in a ground ball double play. Our team is known for being aggressive and that isn’t going to change.
TheAngelsColts - July 6, 2010

Dono Romantico - July 6, 2010

after a pretty bad event.
princeton11loveshalos - July 6, 2010
sounds like something everybody has had at one time
let’s call it Life. No wait, don’t do that, then we can’t prescribe legal drugs for it.
Dono Romantico - July 6, 2010
no its more like
if u witnessed your mother dies in a shooting right in front of you. That will cause PTDS
princeton11loveshalos - July 6, 2010
its triggered by a traumatic event
and not everyone needs drugs….sometimes time takes care of it. The more severe cases may require meds.
ladybug - July 6, 2010
yeah
good therapy doesnt always require drugs
princeton11loveshalos - July 6, 2010

ladybug - July 6, 2010
im glad to hear that
i started getting into psychology and neurology after my friend’s diagnoses.
princeton11loveshalos - July 6, 2010
thank God drugs were not needed
it just seems to me that today’s society is over medicated with this and that because everyone can be diagnosed with something
Dono Romantico - July 6, 2010
that is one point I would agree with you
too much ‘magic pill’ philosophy
ladybug - July 6, 2010
except it's not like that.
All we can do is be supportive, like princeton w/ his friend.

princeton11loveshalos - July 6, 2010
yeah, yeah.
my friends in PB/SD have been whining about 63 and clouds. i’d take just about anything over this.
cath619 - July 6, 2010
ok, done whining.
cath619 - July 6, 2010
just because I don't buy into today's overly diagnosed society
doesn’t mean that I think I am better than anyone else. I wish everyone the best in dealing with life. Everyone deserves to be happy. And I believe it’s a choice. It’s a choice that is harder for some to figure out than others. Nobody can take away your happiness but yourself. A look in the mirror is a lot cheaper than therapy.

very fortunate
many years ago in Chicago ( the 80’s), a group of guys from work went to a White Sox game at Old Comiskey, and one of them fell from the upper deck and died- guys that were there were haunted by the memory of seeing the look in the guy’s eyes as he fell

most players nowadays start playing consistenly during the season
If we give him decent abs this year then we know what we have. Instead of just giving him a job and watching him get overmatched. You can’t tell me the Angels aren’t wishing they would have given Wood a hell of a lot more abs before this year when they handed him a job. They would have done something different this offseason and if they hadn’t have counted on Wood at 3rd then we likely are neck and neck with the Rangers. Wood has been horrible…..

MH252525 - July 6, 2010
