Joe Girardi snubbed Jered Weaver and neither forgiveness nor forgetfulness is at hand. At SBNLA this week I wrote up an argument as to why Weaver should be starting the game for the American League, so obvious was the assumption that he should be included on the roster. Today's disheartening snub is another low point in an unraveling Angels season of miscues and insurmountable phantasms.
SKELETOR STRIKES AGAIN
SO WE STRIKE BACK... Here is the plan:
The Angels have 6 games left with the Red Sox and 6 games left with the Rays. If the Angels are out of contention, they should phone-in these games. Boston and Tampa need every bit of help in the American League East and Mike Scioscia needs to hand them a "Get Out of Anaheim Free" card.
The Angels have two games remaining with the Yankees. They should play those two like they are for the AL pennant and then sell high at the trade deadline: Fernando Rodney is more than just a rental, Joel Pineiro is signed through next year and will bring top prospects. Bobby Abreu might be tempted to set aside any bad feelings and play in a pennant chase. Joe Saunders is about to get expensive, the farm system could bloom with what a contender brings.
The 2010 season has seen every two weeks bringing another punch to the gut of the Angels. It is time to punch back. Our first of 12 games with the Rays and Red Sox is July 26. If we are flailing helplessly against teams like Milwaukee and Kansas City (and we are), at some point, a focus on rebuilding must enter the conversation.

This is bull really. How can Jered Weaver not be an all star? 8-3 with a 2.82 ERA, staff ace, leading the league in strikeouts.
This is total crap i cannot possibly believe he is not on this team

So Skeletor is a villain
big surprise

Lame
We punish the Yankees by winning the World Series.

Exactly what I was about to post
How about we beat them in the ALCS?

Yeah, don't drink the kool-aid Rev is once again trying to pass out!

YES
Never, never, think of mailing it in. To make plans like a loser, makes you a loser.

OH ALRIGHT LET'S DO IT YOUR WAY
I was so steamed when I read about Weaver’s snub I went into suicide-bomber mode. I’m back. Girardi and Manuel are getting reams of reamage about their stupid picks.

Now that's the Spirit

I say
let their players come up lame in a meaningless game while ours rest and get their shit together.

Did Rev inhale too much firework smoke or something?
This is just silly.

Great assumption… fireworks smoke.

One of the rare "BAD" posts by Rev....
Good teams go through bad streaks, the same thing happened last year. Were you calling for the “rebuilding” last year too? If we’re 10 games out in September, then maybe we can start those talks. We’re currently 4 games out in July.
Does anyone here actually believe the Angels can’t outplay the Rangers by 4 games across the next 3 months? This deficit can be overcome in under a week.
Halowood - July 4, 2010
It's gotta be bad if Halowood is dissing you!
;)
Downing Rules - July 5, 2010
Now we get to listen to Rojos and Gubicza bitch and rant all through the game about the Weaver snub.
Boston has six players and MFY has six players, obviously it is the Bud Selig All Star Game, and business as usual. Move along, nothing to see here.
44FAN - July 4, 2010
they were touting Howie Kendrick for the ASG
Not exactly ground to stand on.
Rev Halofan - July 4, 2010
Still it's hard to legitimize some many of these "all-stars"
Jeter over Andrus? Mauer over Buck and Napoli? Sabathia, Carmona and Cahill over Weaver? And how is Alex Rios not a starter on that team? That guy is in the discussion for league MVP.
Yay Red Sox/Yankees vs Cardinals/Braves.
This isn’t an all-star game, has’t been one for quite a while. It’s a non West popularity contest.
Halowood - July 4, 2010
OK, I realize two losses to KC and Weaver's All-star snub is enough...
to drive someone over the edge, but you seem to have lost your mind. We are still in the thick of things. We have been plagued with injuries, our best players have been underperforming and we have had a tough schedule. Despite all of this we are well over .500 and only 4 and a half games out of first place AND YOU want a self-destruct plan to screw over the Yankees? Take your medication, stay away from sharp objects. get better and then come back to the family!
kbrown2225 - July 4, 2010
Fuck Joe Girardi
There I said it.
linkbruin - July 4, 2010
Weaver should be make the all star game...since Buttface is injured
i was pretty appalled that Weaver missed it as a yanks fan, a lot of us thought weaver would have made it over hughes or someone. If Weaver isn’t chosen to replace bucholtz it would be a stupid move on girardi’s part.
lololol - July 4, 2010
For those going to the game
I say boo like hell any time Girardi takes a stroll out to the mound.
And let there be signs…. lots and lots of signs.
hobbit_86 - July 4, 2010
With Weaver not being on the final 5 ballot, it pretty much guarantees Girardi is going to add him
I think Girardi is just playing with Rev Halo for calling him skeletor, lol. Girardi just gave some guys he knew were not going to be able to play some recognition they deserved. Now if Weaver plays and gets hurt, I dont want to hear crying for Girardi’s head.
YankeesJets - July 4, 2010
he's using black magic
friggin skeletor
lololol - July 4, 2010
Recognition they "deserve"?
How do they deserve it more than Weaver? They don’t. And if you think Girardi isn’t going to replace Sabathia with Pettitte, you’re a fool.
Gorbachav5 - July 4, 2010
bucholtz on dl
do you watch baseball?
lololol - July 4, 2010
What does Bucholz on the DL have to do with watching baseball?
Gorbachav5 - July 5, 2010
You forget, of course, that the Yankees and Red Sox = Baseball
TheKingfish - July 5, 2010
Oh, that's right, my bad
If it’s not happening in the Northeast, it doesn’t really matter. I keep forgetting that.
Gorbachav5 - July 5, 2010
Buchholz going on the DL opens up the spot for Weaver
Not an east coast bias, just common sense. I know that Pettitte is taking CC’s spot, thats a given. But Buchholz was named with the thought Weaver would take his spot. Some of this should be blamed on the players too, they help name the team too, its not all Girardi. Disclaimer, I am not a Girardi guy. Dont want to be seen as defending him, lol.
YankeesJets - July 5, 2010
Here's the thing though.
Weaver is scheduled to start the Sunday before the ASG, which means he too is ineligible to pitch in the game. So by your logic, Girardi should have initially selected him, knowing that he wouldn’t be able to pitch in the ASG, and therefore giving him the recognition he rightfully deserves. Your logic is flawed.
b0rd3rline - July 5, 2010
Let's root for national league in ASG.
F you Girardi.
mjhsieh - July 4, 2010
And what if the Angels make the WS?
Than you dont get homefield advantage.
YankeesJets - July 4, 2010
You probably shouldn't give up on your Yankees that fast
mjhsieh - July 4, 2010
Not giving up on them, you never know what can happen though
Weaver will be on the All Star team though. Bank on it.
YankeesJets - July 4, 2010
I was shocked to see this was a Rev post.
Shocked.

ponusbaum43 - July 4, 2010
I thought it was an ironical take on an LL firesale post.
teopeht - July 4, 2010
Sucks Weaver didn't make it
But ultimately, the ASG sucks anyway and I hope Weave has a nice rest in order to not have to turn the ball over to the illustrious bullpen in the second half.
Big Easy Halofan - July 4, 2010
Dammit Rev
It’s June and the ASG is an absolute crock.

If you need to blame someone....
…for the all-star snub of Weaver, look no further than the Halo’s bullpen. If the blown saves by Rodney and Fuentes on 4/21, 5/23 and 6/25 were “wins” for Weaver – he’s in the all-star game.

I would never give a free pass to Boston. F them.
