Final Score in Anaheim: Angels 9, Mark Cuban's EBay bid: 7

The Angels took over sole possession ... of 2nd place with a comeback win over the Trade Deadlines of Arlington on Friday night in front of a crowd of Angels faithful that have not given up. Two four-run innings highlighted a victory that saw the team start the game down 5-0 after 2 innings.
Ervin Santana has had so many losses and no decisions when he allowed 2 or few runs that it is ironic he should get a W on a night that he coughed up 7 runs, 4 of them earned. Fernando Rodney pitched a scoreless inning, increasing his trade value.
Hey... who knows?!?! The Rangers have a slimmer first place lead than the 1995 Angels did at this point in the season.

Every question the interviewer asks Napoli, he always replys, "It was huge."

ryanfea - July 30, 2010
Tommy Hunter is fat and not a good pitcher.
44FAN - July 30, 2010
Well put.
Ervin Santana is a nose-bleeding sucker who somehow ended up with a DUBYA.
BryanHarvey'sMoustache - July 30, 2010
Dubya shows up way too often in Arlington...
44FAN - July 31, 2010
Tell that to every team he started against before today
including the Angels…
sctrojan13 - July 30, 2010
Isn't this his first bad start?
linkbruin - July 30, 2010

GayForFeliz - July 31, 2010 via mobile
Thanks for making me laugh. I think we all need it.
RexTookMyStash - July 31, 2010
I'm sorry sir but that is not true
Did you see his numbers coming in? Dang.
GayForFeliz - July 31, 2010 via mobile
That was fun...
Too bad it didn’t occur about a month ago. If we sweep the Rangers, its gonna get all my hopes up again, goddamnit.
STOP TOYING WITH MY EMOTIONS, ANAHEIM.

HALO_86 - July 30, 2010
Here's hoping they come storming back in August and September, then take no prisoners in October.
That would be just dandy. But I guess they should take one step at a time.
moosemastr - July 30, 2010
Michael Young wishes he was Hudler.
I imagine just about everyone wishes they were Hudler. I know I do.

if they came back to win the division or make the playoffs
they would win the world series.
teams firing on all cylinders, even if it’s only 4, can beat an 8 cylinder monster firing on 3.
or something.
bottom line, i’m about to eat some banana bread.
anomalies!
Quinlan's Goofy Swing - July 30, 2010
in the world of baked goods..
is there anything better than banana bread and milk?
I’d like to know.

LMAO!!!!!!
Angels_48 - July 31, 2010
Yay Angels win
Dan Haren tomorrow. Woo.
Slyintine - July 31, 2010
I was shocked.
An offense that could advance runners, clutch hitting and our bullpen didn’t implode. Now lets keep this up tomorrow, and get Haren his first much deserved W!!
halofolife - July 31, 2010
NUMBER JUAN!!!!!!
Seriously, I was out on a pub crawl and saw a highlight which led me to believe Aybar had hit a grand slam. Either way, it was sweet. I’ll be takin’ my boy from Germany to his first live baseball game tomorrow night.
In case you missed it… NUMBER JUAN!!!
Commander_Nate - July 31, 2010
You guys going to a padres game?
RexTookMyStash - July 31, 2010
Nope
Tonight is one of the package of Angel games I bought back in April.
Commander_Nate - July 31, 2010
I dunno if you guys realize....
But two more wins and all of a sudden, thi race gets very interesting with Texas going on to face the Red Sox and Yankees and Rays and the Angels facing the likes of Kansas City and Detroit.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not entirely interesting yet, but make no mistake, the Angels have an opportunity to make things VERY interesting in the next couple weeks. After all, isn’t that all we can ask for at this point? Just a chance.
Halowood - July 31, 2010
Honestly
I don’t even care if we win the world series. If we come back and beat out Texas and make ll the experts scratch there heads in total confusion I’ll be so happy. And then to see LSB blow there entire blog up. And after all that, we can win the WS!!
angelskid2210 - July 31, 2010 via mobile
P.S. Texas will stop at nothing to prevent a collapse....
They are bringing Rich Harden off the DL tomorrow to face us, hoping to catch lightning in a bottle, they are sending scheduled starter Scott Feldman to the bullpen. The Angels are countering with newly acquired ace Dan Haren.
No biggie guys, all we gotta do is win. :)
Halowood - July 31, 2010
Oh man. I'm going to be glued to this game.
I’m ready for some Halos home cookin’.
Like I said yesterday. Let’s win this damn thing.
Go Halos!!!!!!
RexTookMyStash - July 31, 2010
It's a LONG drive to Anaheim
but I’ll be there tonight! Let’s kick some Rangers A$$!!
maze88 - July 31, 2010 via mobile
Can't wait to be there!
Clutch - July 31, 2010
Vladdie has begun
his typical, predictable mid/late season swoon.
wumbug - July 31, 2010
Great win
Can’t help wondering what the illusion really is: last night’s inspiring come back or the lackluster uninspired play season-to-date.
Does one win mean that Reagins will be a buyer or a seller over the next 12 hours or so…..
mustard_man - July 31, 2010
some small measure of solace
is that texas isn’t messing around. trade after trade after trade.
i know they’re gearing up for an october run, but it also reeks to high heaven of desperation. as if they are trying to ensure there is no possible way oakland or laa sneaks back into this.
Kernel - July 31, 2010
It's the smart play
When you’ve got the competition down, you are supposed to “step on their throats” – not help them back into the race…
mustard_man - July 31, 2010
Um, Rev
Should the second line of the text read “Friday night” or something? I only had two soju coctails yesterday, so I can’t be that f’d up…
Zoe Necrosis - July 31, 2010
Santana finally gets some run support, amazing !!!!
This has been Ervin’s most consistant year on the mound but his record doesn’t reflect it because he has not had much run support from the offense. Past years when Ervin would take the mound i was always slightly panicked wondering “which Santana” are we going to see tonight, this year he has pitched his beast and most consistant to date and he is becoming a very good, possibly heading towards dominant pitcher if he keeps improving his consistancy. This could be just the win the Halos needed.
steelgolf - July 31, 2010
We win One (1) of the last FIVE (5)
and it portends the Rangers “Collapse”???
Two days ago this thread couldn’t trade Rivera for a bag of popcorn.
We are Eight (8) back. That requires a lot of spin, since the Rangers 2 thru 5 hitters are averaging .324, and our 2 thru 5 hitters are averaging .255, and we have pitchers banged up and they have the 2nd best ERA since the All * break.
I am rooting for the halos, but one game does not turn around a loser season.
SocalAngelFaninOC - July 31, 2010
Confidence at its finest
Halos2011champs - July 31, 2010 via mobile
Thing is...he's right
Let’s be realistic
hk47 - July 31, 2010
The collapse has been talked about for weeks...
maybe even months. We are all holding our collective breaths for that late-summer swoon the Rangers do every year. Are we there yet? ;)
Downing Rules - July 31, 2010
Yeah we are... the rangers suck, we just suck harder.
Balls and Strikes - July 31, 2010
hey

Hey everybody, the weather's fair today... guess who's a fan again?! ;)
just ribbin’ ya, utah. don’t take it too seriously and go break those fragile arches.
Downing Rules - July 31, 2010
Just because Johnny Rivers goes out and has one great game
Doesn’t overshadow the fact he’s a lazy ass.
I’d still rather watch somebody who gives a damn, like Reggie Willits.
