Go snakes.
Despite having being terribly run as an organization, and the presence of Stephen Drew, I will root for you.
Every fifth day.
LazorkoRules - July 29, 2010
Hi guys, GO DIAMONDBACKS!!!
opiejeanne - July 29, 2010
Go DBacks!
Justin Upton was one of the nicest rookies I have ever met. Was extremely impressed with the guy when I met him in ST a few years back.
Slasher52 - July 29, 2010
Go D-Backs
I guess I have a 3rd team now.
Gokyle45 - July 29, 2010
Me too.
Except it’s like a fourth or fifth. Maybe not that low.
Clutch - July 29, 2010
Go Saunders!
I feel like I didn’t appreciate him enough while he was here.

Go Colonel!
stuck in Romania - July 29, 2010
Saundo about to make his first pitch as a D-Back
ryanfea - July 29, 2010
Was that Abreu in Right field?
stuck in Romania - July 29, 2010
At least Upton can hit a little bit
I’d like to see Abreu do that this season
ryanfea - July 29, 2010
Abreu>Rivera in the field
stuck in Romania - July 29, 2010
my thoughts exactly
How a guy with that much athletic ability can play a ball like that…. I’ll never know

WiHaloFan - July 29, 2010
Eh
Burgandy does not look that good on the Colonel…
maze88 - July 29, 2010
Love it.
But it makes me sad.

did you get a pic with his new number?
howiestheman - July 29, 2010
Let me know if you need a better one
WiHaloFan - July 30, 2010
Why did Polanco break for home there? Ball sure didn't seem to get that far away, and Howard was telling him to stop
~MMP~ - July 29, 2010
Sounds like the type of mistake Torii Hunter would make
ryanfea - July 29, 2010
Phillies announcers are awful
The Limey - July 29, 2010
I'm listening to the D-Back broadcast
Pretty ho hum there
ryanfea - July 29, 2010
the d backs announcers can't be much better
MH252525 - July 29, 2010
I swear
A lot of the times when players attempt to do a double play, the second baseman looks like they don’t step on the base…
maze88 - July 29, 2010
suprise
they never do
DAD OF VLAD - July 29, 2010
until we get called out on it....Aybar
maze88 - July 29, 2010
Saunders made some sweet contact there
ryanfea - July 29, 2010
Joe Saunders just made better contact that 95% of Brandon Wood Abs
MH252525 - July 29, 2010
I was just about to say that...
stuck in Romania - July 29, 2010
NL pitching is easy
i could hit it
DAD OF VLAD - July 29, 2010

And, of course, the inimitable Billy Ray “RoJo” Johnson

Yep, it’s a tough League.
The_Power_and_the_Glory_of_Robert_Horry - July 29, 2010
well, at least Saundo made contact
stuck in Romania - July 29, 2010
Saunders...Man,
that was a nice sound off that lumber…
maze88 - July 29, 2010
Guy on the Dbacks broadcast is chatting with the Philly Fanatic
~MMP~ - July 29, 2010
Wow
I thought they were doing sketch comedy there.
ryanfea - July 29, 2010
Saunders hitting 93.....
anyone that ever said he was a finesse pitcher can STFU
MH252525 - July 29, 2010
I wonder if he'll get some
run support.
maze88 - July 29, 2010
most likely not
MH252525 - July 29, 2010
Sure doesn't seem like it
~MMP~ - July 29, 2010
Man Upton is fast
but he’s a LOUSY OF.
MH252525 - July 29, 2010
Wow, nice throw LaRoche
~MMP~ - July 29, 2010
What would happen if Joe Saunders
out pitches Haren this year……….
think Tony would lose his job?
MH252525 - July 29, 2010
What exactly are you on?
Of course not! You have to give up something to get something—and as much as I love Joe, Haren is an upgrade over Joe in the longterm no matter which way you slice it.
Clutch - July 29, 2010
Of course, though, Baseball Prospectus will find a way to now say that Dan Haren is awful, despite comparing him to Clemens earlier this year, now that he's on the Angels, who they hate.
Or at least massively dislike.
Clutch - July 29, 2010
more dead horses from you
yeswecan - July 29, 2010
Yeah, "college of the desert" is going to be typed here soon...
other than in my comment.
Downing Rules - July 29, 2010
Is this what our season has become?
Longing for National League players of yesteryear?
bc56274 - July 29, 2010

yes
MH252525 - July 29, 2010
Two words for you:
Bell and Palmer.
Can you say playoff drive?
bc56274 - July 29, 2010
I'll have what you're having
Epic Dean - July 29, 2010
Let's just start printing World Series tickets!
Quad Fin Rider - July 29, 2010
Wouldn't it be hilarious if that happened?
Clutch - July 29, 2010
and Joe is still on the right side of 30
MH252525 - July 29, 2010
Well it wasn't even a week ago that we traded him
ryanfea - July 29, 2010
Saunders has faced 1 batter over the minimum through 3 innings.
~MMP~ - July 29, 2010
The offense behind him has 1 hit through 3. Should look kinda familiar.
Stirrups - July 29, 2010
Atleast
he’s used to this type of team support…recently.
maze88 - July 29, 2010
2 now, though #2 got thrown out advancing to 2nd
~MMP~ - July 29, 2010
...followed by a bad decision on the base paths.
Yup. Home cookin’.
Stirrups - July 29, 2010
It's touching that the Diamondbacks went to all this effort to make Saunders feel comfortable.
Lackluster defense, no hitting and bad baserunning decisions
~MMP~ - July 29, 2010
is it the 31st yet?
clover_black - July 29, 2010
D-Back broadcast
Is run like a game show.
ryanfea - July 29, 2010
Wha?
Clutch - July 29, 2010
Luis Gonzalez guessed Juan Pierre as an answer to "What 3 players have 100+ homeruns with 3 teams?"
I sure hope he was kidding.
~MMP~ - July 29, 2010
that would be 3+ lifetimes for JP
Quad Fin Rider - July 29, 2010
Pierre has 13 home runs in his career.
ryanfea - July 29, 2010
I'm surprised it's that many
~MMP~ - July 29, 2010
Infinite times more than Reggie Willits' career HR total.
Downing Rules - July 29, 2010
Hey Diamondbacks, I think you should try scoring some runs
~MMP~ - July 29, 2010
I know I know I know
Haren is a better pitcher than Saunders.
But in talking about Haren’s past, I hope you guys know that by pitching in the NL West…..
9 of his 33 starts last year were against teams with no better than the 26th offense in MLB last year.
14 of his 33 starts were against teams with no better than the 23rd offense in MLB last year.
MH252525 - July 29, 2010
We also realize that he was pretty dominant in the AL, too.
Nice try.
Clutch - July 29, 2010
yea that was in 2007
he was dominant. ERA + of 138
Saunders had an ERA + of 131 in 2008.
MH252525 - July 29, 2010
but I'm not trying to compare Saunders/Haren
as just say… I hope no one is expecting some ERA in the low 3’s from Haren.
MH252525 - July 29, 2010
This season? You're right, he most likely won't have an ERA in the low 3's.
I don’t see any reason he can’t have low 3 ERAs in the rest of his time here though.
~MMP~ - July 29, 2010
because he only had ONE season of his ERA being in the low 3's in the AL
and that was 3 years ago. His other 2 seasons of having an ERA in the low 3’s were in the NL where as I showed, at least last year he not only got to face pitchers, but a bunch of lousy offensive teams.
MH252525 - July 29, 2010
and saunders got to face the a's and mariners
Quinlan's Goofy Swing - July 29, 2010
I’m pretty sure
Joe enjoyed facing the Ms who have no clutch hitting outside their leadoff man. Come to think of it, we haven’t faced the Os yet. What other teams haven’t we faced because we had to face the MFY 3 times?
phoenix15 - July 29, 2010
Texas wasn't very good before 2009 either
ryanfea - July 29, 2010
The A's had an ABOVE AVERAGE
offense in MLB in that they were 14th in runs scored. Do you see what a HUGE gap in ERA there is between the two leagues because of the DH. I agree the A’s have had a lousy offense, and the M’s a craptastic one but compared to the run production of the NL teams, for the most part, the weak teams that Joe faced scored significantly more runs than the weak teams Haren faced.
MH252525 - July 29, 2010
You saw him strike out 8 Red Sox in 4 2/3 innings the other night, right?
He also walked nobody. The man has skill. His ERA will be higher in the American League, but that should be compensated for with better run support. Well, maybe he’ll get run support next year.
Suboptimal - July 29, 2010
yea I think he'll strikeout a lot of guys. He has a great splitter and great fastball command
so he’ll even get a lot of K’s looking. But did you not see a lot of hard hit balls off of him, against a team that sans Rodney and Kohn in the 3 game stretch we held down pretty well.
MH252525 - July 29, 2010
He got hit hard
when he was pitching NL style with fastball after fastball. All of the HRs against him were on fastballs. Haren made the adjustment of throwing his curve and split after the HRs.
phoenix15 - July 29, 2010
so he was in a league
where all you have to do is throw fastballs to get people out, and you get to face the pitcher instead of someone’s job it is to ONLY hit, and his ERA was well over 4????, which is pretty much exactly what Saunders was doing who doesn’t pitch in the fastball only league and actually has to face DH’s……
man talk about unlucky……. dude should have gone to Vegas with me so I just could have made the exact opposite bet of him.
MH252525 - July 29, 2010
Nice work Joe!
Got out of the jam
TheQuestforMerlin - July 29, 2010
Wow 2 botched plays on pickoffs
~MMP~ - July 29, 2010
Unbelievable, the snakes are even more inept at fielding than we are
Quad Fin Rider - July 29, 2010
who would’ve thought
we would find a team with a worse defense than us? How’s their offense and bullpen?
phoenix15 - July 29, 2010
Their bullpen is the worst in the MLB, I believe
~MMP~ - July 29, 2010
You lie! Take that back!!
Stirrups - July 29, 2010
What is Saunders pitch count?
ryanfea - July 29, 2010
100 through 6 innings
~MMP~ - July 29, 2010
Sosh is on the phone right now, ringing up the D'Backs dugout...
Stirrups - July 29, 2010
Looks like Saunders is done.
7 IP, 9 hits, 2 ER(including 1 HR), 0 BB and 4 Ks
~MMP~ - July 29, 2010
Stooopid National League. No DH.
Stirrups - July 29, 2010
Yeah JOE!!!! GREAT JOB!!!
Wow didn’t realize that Kyle Johnson, Justin Upton and Chris Young are all doing very well we should get them in a trade!!!

so far 1 ER in 6 innings.
stuck in Romania - July 29, 2010
Moseley is one guy I thought had potential...
…to go from crappy to average.
sothball - July 29, 2010
Nice fastball
great movement-I think he’ll be remembered for giving up #500 to Thome though
vlad IS my man - July 29, 2010
Joe pitched great
Gokyle45 - July 29, 2010
I thought Saunders did a very good job in his debut. I was impressed.
I really hope this trade works out for both teams. Haren is a good one (as I can tell that Saunders is). I may have missed this somewhere, but is Saunders taking #34 a tribute to Adenhart? I would assume so. Do you guys mind if I drop by for Haren starts?
(and no I am not a Yankees fan, even though my sister has a Yankees hat on).
justin1985 - July 30, 2010
Of Course
