I was uneasy about letting Vlad going, as I’m sure the FO and many Angels fans were. Contract negotiations broke down, and the Angels didn’t wait around (Arte never has). I don’t see it as disrespect; it’s just a part of free agency and baseball as a business.
The Yankees keep their franchise players because they overpay for them. Yes we should have done the same for Vlad, but it’s not as cut-and-dry as you make it seem.
