Final Score in Oakland: Angels 7, Athletics 1 ... Erick Aybar had 4 hits and 2 RBI, Juan Rivera also had a solo HR and another RBI on a clutch single when the game was close and Torii Hunter went 3 for 5 and got the scoring started with a bases loaded single in the 3rd inning. But the big story for the Angels was Joe Saunders. The Angels lefty allowed 7 hits in 9 strong innings. The reigning king of pitch to contact had 2 strikeouts in the game.

Saunders had to walk across Dallas Braden's mound in Oakland to do it, but that was no contest as the formerly perfect pitcher gassed out earl, throwing 92 pitches without getting out of the 6th inning. Saundo allowed 1 run in the 9th inning and ended the game with a ground out on his 101st pitch of the game.

The Admiral was great,
But a CG and no BP, I voted Saunders.
halofolife - June 9, 2010
Great game by the Admiral, but the Colonel gets it
yeswecan - June 9, 2010

Drizzy23 - June 9, 2010
Just a note on the game summary-
Joe struck out according to my scorecard.
Zu Long - June 9, 2010
Struck out TWO rather.
Zu Long - June 9, 2010
You know what, Slyntine beat me to it anyway, I can't detect sarcasm worth a damn
Screw it. Angels win, I’m getting some sleep. Stupid day shift.
Zu Long - June 9, 2010

Drizzy23 - June 9, 2010
It is amazing
This guy
DAD OF VLAD - June 9, 2010
if the Ms
beat Texas today, then I think the Ms deserved POTG, but because the Ms keep losing, the Halos can’t get 1st place.
phoenix15 - June 9, 2010
The Colonel just served us up a whole plate-load of tender, white meat A's!
Panther!
Quad Fin Rider - June 9, 2010
he serverd the A's a can of asswhooping
aldo H - June 9, 2010
what Santana is the real A"s killer with that 1.5 era and 11 wins and 2 loses

I thought his nose might be broken at first.
It was definitely bleeding when he was up to bat.
opiejeanne - June 9, 2010
rofl
someone needs to upload that video.
SenorChuckles - June 9, 2010
Q had some nice hitting and some nice glovework.
I have no idea why Roenicke sent him home on that one play.
red floyd - June 9, 2010
I have no idea why he didn't send Aybar for an inside-the-park homerun.
opiejeanne - June 9, 2010
This victory was made possible by autry's cowboys baby Weston
There’s no better way to come into this world than with a Halos WIN!
Quad Fin Rider - June 9, 2010
The birth of another angels Fan
it is a beautiful thing.

Somebody had a baby?
For reals?
opiejeanne - June 9, 2010

weren’t you watching the Halos in the ER when you had yours???
Quad Fin Rider - June 9, 2010

DAD OF VLAD - June 9, 2010
No games on when I was in labor the last two times,
March and December, and no tvs in the labor/delivery rooms the first time, 40 years ago. I kind of wasn’t in the mood, but Henry Aaron did something big while I was in labor.
I did watch SNL with the middle kid after she was born, 30 years ago.
opiejeanne - June 9, 2010
I agree.
Newborn baby Weston for the co-POTG!
halofolife - June 9, 2010
Weston. So they had a boy?
I hope so, not a great girl’s name.
I found his announcement that she was in labor, but I didn’t find the results, and it’s late, and I’m like GA.
opiejeanne - June 9, 2010
GA isn't lazy opiejeanne.
He’s just very relaxed. And Weston could be a girls name, don’t forget, John Wayne’s real name was Marion.
halofolife - June 10, 2010
Marion IS a boy's name.
Spelling for a girl is Marian, and variations thereof. Just like Jean and Jeanne are girl names (in English) Gene is the boy spelling. (In France, Jean is a boy’s name)
And yes, people name their kids all sorts of stuff, but I was thinking Traditionally, and in that fairytale land little girls are not named Madison or Steve.

I know opiejeanne, I was pullin' your leg.

Ok
Humor meter broken by plumbers.
It’s the bidding process that has made me nuts. One guy whose secretary told us $50 to give us an estimate on a leaky drain pip in the crawl space demanded $300 to go under the house. What part of " main drain in the crawl space" doesn’t imply “under the house”? He claimed it was a technical term that his secretary wouldn’t understand, that it was up to him, the professional, to set the price, then insisted that every other plumber who came to give a bid would demand $300 to go under the house. (We had just had 3 plumbers give us bids on the cabin, for free, went under the house and everything.)
That was yesterday. We did not give him $300 and he did not get the job.
Guy #2 wanted $35 for the estimate, sure, fine, we can deal with that. He gives us a price, we’ve got another plumbing estimate coming this afternoon, and they want to know how they can get the job TODAY. We set a price, they squirm a little, and they come up with a price of $1450 to do the drain and run a new service to the house in order to install a shutoff valve, because no one can find it. Ok, the guy leaves, I call plumber #3 to cancel and they start telling me that he used to work for them, he’s a crook, etc.
my head hurts.
we call and get the plumbing license number for the guy we’ve hired, it checks out, still legal, etc. No complaints against them at the BBB, etc, so we go ahead, Dig ug the rose bush in the way of the shutoff valve project and TADAH! found the shutoff valve. Call them back, tell them they need to revise the contract, and the guy only wants to take off $150 off the $350 original estimate. I tell him no, I will only pay $150 for that, he squirms but gives in. I know deep down that we are still getting effed but I can live with the final bill of $1150.
I think I need to lie down now.
opiejeanne - June 10, 2010
And I know GA isn't lazy.
It was a joke.
opiejeanne - June 10, 2010
Did that sound snarky?
Sorry, didn’t mean to be snarky. Dealing with plumbers, OMFC.
opiejeanne - June 10, 2010
Dealing with plumbers can be a pain in the rear
RexTookMyStash - June 10, 2010

halofolife - June 10, 2010

DAD OF VLAD - June 9, 2010
Congrats
Yes you did switch up your numbers again
blast21dave - June 9, 2010
Would you like help in how to post a pre-game guess? LOL
44FAN - June 9, 2010
Actually DAD is much further ahead doing it backwards. Losing 7 is better than losing 4000.
44FAN - June 9, 2010
Except for the one time
He had the correct guess and (thought he) bet 2000, missed out on 20,000 + whatever he bet for that game.
blast21dave - June 10, 2010
This game is getting more and more desperate every day.
44FAN - June 10, 2010
Oh no!!!! 44FAN is turning into CLIPPY!!!!!
It looks like you’re posting a pregame pick! Would you like some help?
red floyd - June 10, 2010
Arrrgh! Clippy!
I almost managed to forget him. It. Whatever.
opiejeanne - June 10, 2010
Great game.
I’m looking forward to facing the dodgers though. Should give us more of a fight than KC and the M’s.
RexTookMyStash - June 9, 2010
it’s going to be an interesting series, that’s for sure.
SenorChuckles - June 9, 2010
Playing on the road at the latrine....
Will be very, very interesting. If you’re a Halo fan attending these games, bring a shank, and be prepared to use it. Or in the very least, don’t piss off the natives. This BTW is sarcasm, i’m not advocating violence.
halofolife - June 9, 2010
bring a mexico soccer jersey and all will be forgiven until they get a few beers in ’em.
SenorChuckles - June 10, 2010
Careful what you wish for.
opiejeanne - June 9, 2010
What was the pregame? I have a crappy memory for that.
red floyd - June 9, 2010
9 was the answer
Inning of the final Saundo pitch
Rev Halofan - June 9, 2010
I had 7.
I’m damn glad to be wrong.

BigBangRobbDawgg - June 9, 2010

norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2010
and I will correct my own.......
its Batting……..not batted.
D’oh
Sorry Rev
norcaliangelsfan - June 9, 2010
good catch, thanks
Must have poker on my mind, “betting” 9th is often great position.
Rev Halofan - June 10, 2010
Anyone else wish that 'dondo didn't hurt himself
and didn’t act like a bitch when the team asked him to train in Arizona—and not the freaking Dominican Republic—so he’d have the option of joining the club around the playoffs.
SenorChuckles - June 10, 2010
You mean
the same ’dondo who had control issues on par with evil Shields?
blast21dave - June 10, 2010
didn’t he have control issues because he was hurt?
SenorChuckles - June 10, 2010
Do not bring back ghosts of bullpens past, please.
Justin Speier?
44FAN - June 10, 2010
The Admiral outranks the Colonel
And who is this Earl that Saundo gassed out?
