LIVE on the MLB Network @ 9 A.M. ... Angels Get Pick # 81 overall near the end of the 2nd round, #11 near the end of the 3rd round, #115 as some complicated compensation pick (hey, we'll take it) after the 3rd round, pick #144 in the 4th round, #174 in the 5th round and just keep adding 30 to each round until teams start picking Jerry Seinfeld for kicks.

Cunningham and Eibner next
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010

Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
YeAH a good college pitcher
to balance out all the HS rawness
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
probably wont fall though
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
Or Rob Rassmussen from UCLA
Dude is a game. I know his catcher from last year and he told me he is nails with a bulldog mentality
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
LeVon Washington
good pick
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
Yeah good spot for him. Top 20 last year now 2nd round.
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Socks get Workman
i hate them
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
Rich get Richer shit
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Jedd Gyorko to SD
A’s on the clock
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Yordy Cabrera
is another guy i liked
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
Yeah all the projected Day 1 guys are dropping like flies
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
ya
we will probably get someone i never heard of at our pick
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
Let's hope not. What pick are we in the 2nd?
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
81st
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
Oh geeze....
I’m hoping for Rasmussen
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
He's another Saunders
Bulldog lefty with good “stuff”
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
i think 29th
in 2nd
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
Jacob Thompson
is a dirtbag
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
I wonder if WEaver scouted him for the Anegls at all
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
looks like
Longoria was a better scout
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
Are you at work on here? jwing lol
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
nope just got out of school
last week
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
Oh cool. Graduation or summer??
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
summer
im going to be a senior next year
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
Nice. It'll be a fun year.
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
nothing
from baseball america will open for me
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
there goes your guy
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
Crap there went my guy!
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
That bums me out, really lookin forward to him
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
ya that sucks
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
when they show
the scouting videos
why is there 2 different numbers?
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
I was wondering the same thing. I was gonna ssume
The top number was the speed out of his hand and the bottom number was the speed when it reached the plate. But I was Stetson at 110 so I have no clue.
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Who do we got...Austin Wilson?? Might as well get another OFer. Lol
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
man....no real idea who the team takes at this point
HaloFanInDC - June 8, 2010
Do we go after Wilson
yeah right no way he signs in the 2nd round. I have no clue either. I wanted Rasmussen
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
I wonder what % of these guys ever make it over one season in the majors?
RexTookMyStash - June 8, 2010
6% lol idk
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Austin Wilson!!
angelsown3417 - June 8, 2010
Daniel Tillman
HaloFanInDC - June 8, 2010
Tillman!!
angelsown3417 - June 8, 2010
Daniel Tillman
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
Who??
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Tom Kotchman pick I'd think
HaloFanInDC - June 8, 2010
What do we know about this kid?
halofan4life - June 8, 2010 via mobile
Did you guys know only two first overall picks in the first year player draft
have retired without playing a single game in the majors. And 17 have went on to become all stars.
Draft started in 1965.
RexTookMyStash - June 8, 2010
This Gumbs guy is from my hometown
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Real raw, but toolsy guy. I had hoped the angels took him as a local kid
HaloFanInDC - June 8, 2010
Tillman looks like he's going to be a quick climbing reliever
Throws in the low to mid 90’s with a plus slider
HaloFanInDC - June 8, 2010
And his arm slot
Looks like a three quarter slot? That’s pretty impressive to throw mid 90s with that angle.
jjlooney - June 8, 2010
We should take Bryan HArper
Bryce’s older brother. Maybe entice him to leave the Nats. Haha
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
i thought about that
hahaha
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
Video of Tillman
Epic Dean - June 8, 2010
Eddie Bane's boy Tony Wolters just went
HaloFanInDC - June 8, 2010
what were Tillman's
numbers last year?
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
13 Saves, 56 K's in 30 something innings he was there closer
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
ok found it
IP 39.2 H 43 ER 14 ERA 3.18 K 56 BB 31
http://www.fscmocs.com/stats/2010BASE/teamcume.htm
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
At this point I'm hoping someone like Kyle Blair lasts to us
There’s the other prep arm, but i doubt the team opens up the wallet for it….but it would be quite a steal at htis point
HaloFanInDC - June 8, 2010
AJ cole still on board right?
But I don’t think he’ll sign now unless the Angels overslot him
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
the Angels
need to open the walet
like last year
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
They really didn't open the wallet last year i don't believe
Other than Skaggs, which wasn’t very much overslot, they stayed in slot, but spent a lot because of so many picks
HaloFanInDC - June 8, 2010
well i just
mean signing most of the top picks
only guy we didnt sign within the top 10 rounds was our 3rd rounder
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
would require a massive overslot....word is he is looking for first round money
I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Royals go after him considering they went slot with Colon.
HaloFanInDC - June 8, 2010
give him
1M call it a day
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
I'd surmise with this scholarship he's probably looking around mid to high 1's or low 2 mill
HaloFanInDC - June 8, 2010
QWhere is he going to school?
It can’t be that great t over power 1-2 million right?
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
i have no clue
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
Bliar is the USD kid right?
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Or the former British Prime Minister
The Limey - June 8, 2010
Is that like a prime number?
Commander_Nate - June 8, 2010
No, it's a politician with a compromised sense of truthfulness...
The Limey - June 8, 2010
Europe has those too, eh?
Damn, one more thing we American’s can’t claim as ours alone!
Commander_Nate - June 8, 2010
Something of a tautology, I suppose
The Limey - June 8, 2010
Tautology...isn't that the study of what I was supposed to have leart?
…and they didn’t even spell “taut” correctly. Makes ya wonder that they teech in skool these daze…
sothball - June 8, 2010
yup
HaloFanInDC - June 8, 2010
well it's the free school + the chance the develop and come out as a top pick
It’s basically what Matt Harvey did. He turned down the Halo’s 1.5 mill and now that he’s being picked 7th he’ll definitely get significantly more than that
HaloFanInDC - June 8, 2010
Anybody know why Austin Wilson is hanging around?
BP Scanner - June 8, 2010
Commitment to Standford.
I think he wants to go there.
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Stanford + Large Bonus Demands + Poor pitch recognition
HaloFanInDC - June 8, 2010
Why didn't these three guys do the draft coverage yesterday. Much better
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Who do they pick?
angelsown3417 - June 8, 2010
We have 2 stories about us in the SBN sidebar
We are officially awesomesauce again!
Commander_Nate - June 8, 2010
Halo's grab Wendell Soto
HaloFanInDC - June 8, 2010
Wendell Soto
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
high school
short stop from Florida
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
MR. WENDELL!!
reminds me of this arrested development song in the 90’s
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kyqp2f6VPos&feature=related
thenextlevel - June 8, 2010
Wendell Soto?! Lol
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
5'8" 150 LBs
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
We sure like little guys
Epic Dean - June 8, 2010
we are up again right now
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
Donn Roach
Harper’s teammate
Gorbachav5 - June 8, 2010
Wrong one we should've gotten his brother! lol
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Does anyone have a list of our next few pick numbers?
halofan1 - June 8, 2010
2nd to last every round from here on out.
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Thanks
halofan1 - June 8, 2010
144, 174, 204 etc...
The Limey - June 8, 2010
Not bad 11-3, 103 IP, 133 K 2.70 ERA 17 BB
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
6 CGs
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Holy crap
Washington going crazy.
Harper
Solis
Cole
There’s no way they sign all those guys, right?
Gorbachav5 - June 8, 2010
If they do, and these guys all pan out. Watch out
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Seriously
Assuming Strasburg is still around and healthy, in 3 or 4 years they’ll be the Rays.
Gorbachav5 - June 8, 2010
They're not spending the cash on salary currently, so they might as well open the wallet
The Limey - June 8, 2010
They should
Rizzo is the new GM and is a has a good eye for talent. The owners have been committed to paying money when necessary so I see it happening
HaloFanInDC - June 8, 2010
There went Blair
Gorbachav5 - June 8, 2010
my computer randomly decided to shut off
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
From here on out who knows who they'll pick. Hopefully they know what theere doing
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
At this point
We’re probably not getting any names that any of us will know, except for the most hardcore amateur baseball followers. So let’s just hope they’re good.
I am going to check our 13th round pick and hope is name is Calbert Stujols or something like that.
Gorbachav5 - June 8, 2010
and hopefully
our 7th rounder is
LHP Trevor Freckling
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
There's this kid Quim Dedmunds...
… that I really like as a late-rounder.
GrichManPoorMan - June 8, 2010
Or a Spike Krout
or Shank Longer or Ferret Prichards or Smyler Raggs one of those guys will do.
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Except I was referring to an actual superstar
Not a current Angels minor leaguer who hasn’t done anything yet…
Gorbachav5 - June 8, 2010
ok fine
how about a
Treven Kongoria
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
Lol gotcha
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
We haven't made one pick from CA this year (so far)
And three of our 1st rounders have the same agents: Bedrosian, Clarke, Bolden all belong to ACES.
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
ya no CA
people is weird
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
All Georgians maybe there something in the peaches??
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
We went hunting for peaches and another Heyward
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
That'd be sweet! and we went to Mississippi too
all these football states to find a baseball player…
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Georgia has been the hotbed for Little League baseball the past 10-15 years
eyespy - June 8, 2010
Angels took Max Russell at #144
So we have 3 pitchers and a SS so far today
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
From the same school as that Tillman guy
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Tom Kotchman must be all over this day.
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Yep, yesterday was whoever the Georgia scout is day, and today seems to be Tom Kotchman day
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Chris McAlpin
The Limey - June 8, 2010
does anyone know
if Torii Hunter’s son that just graduated, played baseball?
if so dont you think we would probably draft him
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
If he is any good. But I have no idea. What his sons naME?
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
i have no clue
we draft Scioscia’s son a couple years ago
but he went to college instead
Vladd#27 - June 8, 2010
Yeah I just looked it up, his name is Cameron but nothing on whether
he plays ball or not.
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
you all need to get back to work
RexTookMyStash - June 8, 2010
I’m a manager so it’s cool if I post here all day ; )
RexTookMyStash - June 8, 2010
Lol I am working just a little slow today
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Lol I am working just a little slow today
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
We need to draft Rod Quinlan
Halowood - June 8, 2010
Yes!
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Wait, is there really a Rod Quinlan?
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Only if we also take Reggie Twillits
Gorbachav5 - June 8, 2010
I'm partial to Standon Hood
RexTookMyStash - June 8, 2010
JEsus Valdez a CA boy for the Angels
Halowood - June 8, 2010
First CA player they've drafted this year?
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
another High School pitcher
Halowood - June 8, 2010
And possibly a bat. Another two position player.
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Yup I stand corrected, according to his scouting report me might be a 3B as well
Halowood - June 8, 2010
So that's two HS Arms possibly turned into Bats.
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Like this pick a lot
Good to see us take some arms, don’t know how much projection there is (although I would say Valdez looks promising) but its nice to see us balance the first round out
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
New Here..
Is there anywhere on the site that lists all of the Halos 2010 picks so far in one spot?
Thanks.
BigGame48 - June 8, 2010
mlb.com
Halowood - June 8, 2010
Not here at the moment
But when the draft gets done, for sure someone will put them all up.
mlb.com draft tracker is the best place at the moment
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
MLB.com->Draft Tracker->Team->Angels
Gorbachav5 - June 8, 2010
RHP Brian Diemer selected by the Angels
Another CA guy
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Found this on him
http://www.calbears.com/sports/m-basebl/mtt/diemer_brian00.html
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
there must be more than meets the eye there, I wonder what his stuff is...
When I see big time college pitchers with ERAs over 6 being drafted, I begin to wonder why? Then I refer back to Garret Richards. Torched in college, confounded scouts because his stuff is too good for that to happen.
Halowood - June 8, 2010
LHP Joshua Osich from Oregon State next
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
This could be a good pick, a real good pick
Depending on his TJ surgury recovery
Quick look report
Projected to go in the 1st round prior to injury
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
Sounds very much like Adenhart's route to the Major's...
…potential number one, TJ surgery etc…
The Limey - June 8, 2010
Yup, spot on me old mucker
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
This was what projectprospect.com said about him in 2009 before injury
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
He probably won't sign though....
Think bout it, best overal stuff, projected to go number one, why would he take 6th round money from the Angels, when if he recovers from TJ surgery and comes back in 2011 and has a good year, he’d be wealthy for the rest of his life.
Halowood - June 8, 2010
Because they won't pay him like a 6th rounder...
…and he’s mitigating his own risk, which post-surgery is not inconsiderable
The Limey - June 8, 2010
Definitely one to keep an eye on
Lots of mitigating factors:
He’s 21 now, and recovering from injury. Does he take the risk to re-build value and re-enter the draft as a 22 LHP next year? He doesn’t have tons of leverage, see James Paxton this year.
If we offer the right amount, we could tempt him out of college. He’s obviously an overslot ‘type’ of pick, except the injury will keep his price from soaring too much.
It could go either way, he’s one of our more interesting late round picks though. And we still don’t know how much ability he will retain.
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
Tigers drafted Patrick Leyland. Jim's son?
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Kole Calhoun, RF from Arizona State
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Pedroia is his favorite pro athlete
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Well that's not going to do at all
The Limey - June 8, 2010
He can be fixed
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Padres just took Joshua Spence, wasn't he one of the ones the Angels drafted and didn't sign?
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Yeah. He's been hurt all thus year.
He still may not sign. But good pick.
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010 via mobile
Angels take Andrew Heid, CF from Gonzaga at #294
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Scrappy
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
At #324, the Angels take Aaron Meade, LHP from Missouri State
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Scouting report
Baseball Beginnings Scouting Report
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
At #354, the Angels take Jake Rodriguez, SS from Elk Grove HS
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
LeVon Washington already signed by the Indians for $1.5 million
rejected 500k from Tampa in the 1st last year
Epic Dean - June 8, 2010
I was really hoping the Angels would have grabbed him in the supplemental round
He could be very good.
Halowood - June 8, 2010
At #384, the Angels take RHP Justin La Tempa
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
from University of Oregon
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Go Ducks!
Gorbachav5 - June 8, 2010
No idea if he'll sign though
He’s definitely old for his level (I think he still has two years of eligibility in college left but he’s already 23). I had heard that he was staying in school, but I don’t know for sure.
Gorbachav5 - June 8, 2010
At #414, the Angels take RHP Bryant George from Southern Illinois University
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Now we're gettin' somewhere
Look at all those college arms. There’s a good chance a few of them end up making something of themselves. Smart drafting Halos!
Halowood - June 8, 2010
At #444, the Angels take James Sneed, CF from St. Croix Educational Complex
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Marlins just drafted a kid with the last name Fisher. Appropriate
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
At #474, the Angels take Carmine Giardina, LHP from the University of Tampa
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
There's an odd name.
Halowood - June 8, 2010
Ya, certainly not a name you see everyday
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Don't piss him of or you'll end up sleepin with the fishes
Epic Dean - June 8, 2010
It will be even stranger when we start calling him Carmine the LOOGY.
BP Scanner - June 8, 2010
At #504, the Angels take 3B Thomas Nichols, from Georgia Tech
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
At #534, the Angels take SS Kevin Moesquit from Highlands Christian HS in FL
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
I don't know many of the guys drafted today
are we having a good second day of the draft?
ryanfea - June 8, 2010
Lots of college arms. Which is a good thing. So i'd say so.
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
I agree
Prep players taken late in the draft have an extreme high rate of failure – over 95%. I like the strategy of initially taking high ceiling prep players and then more college players
Trott - June 8, 2010
At #564, the Angels take SS Ryan Broussard, from Louisana State U.
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
At #594, the Angels take RHP Jonathan Bobea from Francis Lewis HS in NY
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
BOBBY CASSEVAH
was a 34th round pick so there is hope for these guys…
Rev Halofan - June 8, 2010
Judging by the success of Bobby Cassevah at the ML level...
I’m not so sure.
Gorbachav5 - June 8, 2010
Shields was a 38th round pick
ryanfea - June 8, 2010
At #624, the Angels take RHP Kevin Johnson, from University of West Florida
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
At #654, the Angels take LF Gary Mitchell from Neumann College
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
At #684, the Angels take C Francis Larson, from University of California Irvine
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
on sunday

also, fwiw, he’s graduating cum laude in Philosophy…

~MMP~ - June 8, 2010

~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
At #744, the Angels take SS Jesus Campos, from Cal State Los Angeles
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010

~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Awesome Dakota from Louisiana
Epic Dean - June 8, 2010
Cubs just drafted Bryan Harper, Bryce's brother
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Poor kid.
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
At #834, the Angels take LF Brandon Decker, from Valdosta State U in FL
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Also a 1B
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
From GA.
Might as well be north Florida though.
Slasher52 - June 8, 2010
Strasburg throwing 99 so far in his debut.
It’s… almost draft related.
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
Rediculous noise in DC with his first K too.
I didn’t know that much noise was possible in that Stadium.
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
Ya, one of the Nats players was comparing it to playoffs atmosphere in the stadium.
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
It was at least as loud for that strike three pitch as it was to start game seven of the WS in Anaheim.
And they don’t even have Thunder Stix.
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
He's got some nasty movement
Epic Dean - June 8, 2010
Ya, he has really impressive stuff
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Damn.
100 MPH on the inside pitch… gotta be scary.
I think the best way to get on base right now is just stand back and don’t swing.
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
The BEST curveball I have ever seen
Also, a 96 MPH sinker, baring injury he will be the greatest pitcher in the bigs.
Halowood - June 8, 2010
I was just checking who the DH for washington was.
I might finally be losing my shit.
RexTookMyStash - June 8, 2010
At #864, the Angels take C Timothy Helton from Upland HS
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Todd Heltons son?
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
And there goes Strasburg's no hitter
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
No No-no for stazzy
RexTookMyStash - June 8, 2010
Single of a 100 mph fastball
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
off*
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
That was 100?
Figgi4life - June 8, 2010 via mobile
That cyurveball is so nasty.
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Struck out the side.
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
Yup. Like Halowood said above
the nastiest curveball i’ve ever seen. Hopefully he doesn’t turn into kerry wood.
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Yikes, he has 4 swinging strikeouts in two innings.
Haven’t seen it yet but he must have some nasty off speed
RexTookMyStash - June 8, 2010
It's a freaking cartoon breaking ball.
But the fact that he can throw an 80 mph breaking ball after throwing a 99 mph fastball makes it that much more ridiculous..
b0rd3rline - June 8, 2010
Strasburg is mauling the Pirates so far
The movement on the fastball is wicked. Curveball is buckling knees.
The National fans are treating this like a playoff game, yowsers. New Era for Washington: Stras & Harper
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
Don't forget Zimmerman.
He’s still the face of the franchise. Damn, they have some good young kids in that organization..
b0rd3rline - June 8, 2010
Oh I would never, he's awesome
And he hit a nice HR today, the fans were loving that
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
The only National I ever actually want to draft
Until now apparently.
Commander_Nate - June 8, 2010
They might be like the dbacks and marlins of yore and win a WS soon with this talent
RexTookMyStash - June 8, 2010
They'll be competitive in the NL East soon
Get the right pieces around these young players and boom… Unlike the Marlins however, they won’t trade their stars
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
LOL
Pudge signed by Rangers a week after Strasburg was born.
Figgi4life - June 8, 2010 via mobile
At #894, the Angels take SS Taylor Smith-Brennan from Meadowdale HS, WA
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
SS/2B actually
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
I'm kinda glad right now the Nats aren't in our division
or league for that matter
RexTookMyStash - June 8, 2010
I wish we got to play them in interleague this year though. I really want to see this kid pitch in person
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Go to Petco or a Dodger game then
Epic Dean - June 8, 2010
(hint: not a Dodger game)
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
I may do that, most likely at Petco though
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
I'd probably go to San Fran to see him before I'd go to a Doyer game
Epic Dean - June 8, 2010
Strasburg WILL NOT PLAY IN San Diego this year...
And I projected out to their August visit to Dodger Stadium … he is slated to pitch the day before the series at Chavez Ravine.
So, unless they “reset” their rotation after the All-Star Break, we won’t see Strasburg in SoCal this year.
The Nats already played in San Diego this year.
Downing Rules - June 9, 2010
I might have seen him at SDSU
I’m not sure though. The last Aztec game I went to was about 3 years ago and I don’t think there was much of a buzz around him them.
Commander_Nate - June 8, 2010
The NL East is going to be stacked
The Braves have a lot of good young talent in the minors (esp. pitching) and the like of Heyward already up.
Phillies have also drafted well for the past couple of years, picking up toolsy guys.
The Marlins also have young talent, Mike Stanton is a beast!
Poor Mets. ;-)
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
Arizona Diamondbacks just drafted Ryan Zimmerman.
Craaaaazy.. Too bad this one is a RHP.
b0rd3rline - June 8, 2010
Strasburg will have
An XBH at some point in the game. Just watch.
Figgi4life - June 8, 2010 via mobile
Possible HR??
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Stasburg.... KKKKK
Watch: http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?topic_id=6350584
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
I like that they started playing "Can't Touch This" after that K
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
This is seriously like playing a video game right now.
Stud pitcher absolutely dominating!
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
He just threw a CURVEBALL to the pitcher after throwing 99!
Haha!!
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Well now
Strasburg is gonna get hit. Can’t throw that crap to pitchers.
Figgi4life - June 8, 2010 via mobile
Ridiculous
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
Wow the Natnals are playing like a playoff team right now.
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Against the Pirates.
But the atmosphere is there!
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
I'll trade you
A Brandon wood, Reggie willits, Quinlan, and Stokes for Zimmerman and Strasburg.
Figgi4life - June 8, 2010 via mobile
Too much
The Limey - June 8, 2010
Lincecum is certainly going to have a lot tougher time winning those Cy Youngs from now on
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Holy crap Strasburg looks great right now
ryanfea - June 8, 2010
So
Does Strasburg get in the ASG?
Figgi4life - June 8, 2010 via mobile
if fans voted on pitchers he would be
ryanfea - June 8, 2010
They'll make him inelligible.
By pitching him the last day before the break.
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
maybe the big south conference will get him in on an at-large bid
RexTookMyStash - June 8, 2010
Nah
He’ll put up some dud starts, growing pains. Particularly when they come up against the Phillies or Braves etc.
He’s so amped up right now, and against the Pirates, its a perfect debut game.
And then you have what Halladay and Ubaldo are doing… sickness
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
And that's why
The Pirates are the Pirates.
Figgi4life - June 8, 2010 via mobile
GameDay thought that was a base hit, haha.
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
He probably should have
Epic Dean - June 8, 2010
Bench him for not running it out.
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
Dang, he could have had a hit there
Epic Dean - June 8, 2010
At #924, the Angels take 2B Steven Irvine, from McNeese State U, OK
And now I’m focusing on Strasburg
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Lol great job today
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Is this the official Strasburg thread?
ryanfea - June 8, 2010
It’s… almost draft related.
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
Sam Miller just said this about him
Pitches like Seaver, runs like Molina
Epic Dean - June 8, 2010
Lol
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Hey you know who's going to be pissed
The Mariners. What were they a couple of games away from the first pick in 2009?!
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
lol
Epic Dean - June 8, 2010
just watch their pick flame out in AA
ryanfea - June 8, 2010
They picked Ackley I think he's going to pan outq
to be a solid player. No Strasburg of course
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
I hope so
But his plate discipline is ridonkulous. When (if) he starts hitting XBH’s he will be a stud at 2B. He’s had a slow start, but his peripheral stats are good.
Not as good as Trout mind you. ;-)
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
has any position players from the 2009 draft
shown the potential that Trout has
ryanfea - June 8, 2010
Nope and its not even close
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Trout could possibly be a top 5 prospect for sure top 10.
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Honestly? Nope
And this isn’t me, as a homer, saying so. Pretty much everyone one else thinks so too. I mentioned before that if Keith Law could re-do the 2009 draft, he would have Trout going second and Ackley going third, based on 2010 performance and projection.
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
Although it should be mentioned
That Nick Franklin, a SS Mariners prospect is also showing up really well in the MWL. Just strikes out a little too much.
He would be a close second to Trout for his breakout potential
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
Currently batting 246
but he has a 401 on base %
Epic Dean - June 8, 2010
Check out his BB/K ratio insane
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Lol 40BB to 27 K
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
How long before they stop comparing him to other flame throwers
and just start giving him his own name??
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
And in other hot rookie news, Mike Stanton with the Marlins is 1 for 1 tonight, with an infield single and a run scored
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Dude can drop 40-50 bombs
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
When our players sign, when and where will they be sent in the minors?
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Arizona rookie league then assigned from there I think
Epic Dean - June 8, 2010
Ok cool. Thanks
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
AZL Rookie league and Orem Owls
Depending. If they sign in July that is, and not at the signing deadline in Aug.
Next year at Cedar Rapids
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
2 straight singles off Stras in the 4th
Epic Dean - June 8, 2010
Shattered bat, double play.
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
His circle changeup
Is as fast as Kazmir’s fastball this year. His circle changeup.
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
Ouch
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
And a two run blast hit against Strasburg.
Looks like he just used the power of the pitch.
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
No, I was wrong.
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
Good piece of hitting
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
2 run dinger
Epic Dean - June 8, 2010
Strasburg's ERA is 4.50. Bust.
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Send the trade Tony! Right Now!
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
And the bubble bursts...
…nevertheless, how frightening is this bloke’s fastball – the lateral movement is ridiculous
The Limey - June 8, 2010
Trout for Strasburg??
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Q and Willits for Strasburg, and if the Nationals insist, we'll consider throwing in Stokes
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Lol but im being serious....
would you trade Trout for Strasburg?
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
I would not.
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
No
Epic Dean - June 8, 2010
Really tough
I’m taking the position player. Pitching can be volatile. But I wouldn’t complain with either!
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
Yes.
And I love any Angel with a fish-based last name.
Slasher52 - June 8, 2010
In a heartbeat...
…Trout is still potential. This guy is mowing people down in the here and now.
The Limey - June 8, 2010
Well
It his first start. And he’s facing the Pirates.
Figgi4life - June 8, 2010 via mobile
True and True.
But pitching potential > hitting potential (with very rare exceptions).
Slasher52 - June 8, 2010
Nit-picking - this bloke's going to be a superstar
The Limey - June 8, 2010
What is a bloke? Jwing
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
JFGI
Link
The Limey - June 8, 2010
Thanks.
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Um yes...
because Strasburg is ML ready and Trout isn’t here for another 2 years at least.
Nashdiesel - June 8, 2010
Ot: anybody gonna watching UCLA try to win there 11th softball Title!?!?
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Nah, Lakers on in an hour
Epic Dean - June 8, 2010
But its on now lol
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Never been into watching Softball.
I was watching on a random TV at a restaurant and someone hit a homerun in the second inning, and the team came out and mobbed her at home plate. I looked again to check the inning… yeah, second inning. I saw that the score was very lopsided and assumed that they’d just invoked a Mercy rule and won the game on the home run, strange but okay. But then they kept playing Softball and I realized they … just mobbed a player at the plate for hitting a homerun in the middle of a game.
WTF?
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
Yeah That I don't like, it's the rahh rahh crap.
But Im a UCLA fan so just supporting
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010

Bother me, too.
Figgi4life - June 8, 2010 via mobile
LMAO
Not your night, Karstens.
Figgi4life - June 8, 2010 via mobile
My Strasburg prediction was:
5 IP, 3 ER, 6 H, 3 K
Figgi4life - June 8, 2010 via mobile
He's got you on K's for sure.
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
Just a little
Figgi4life - June 8, 2010 via mobile
And he'll go more than 5 IP
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
3 K'S??
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Here comes Strasburg's
XBH
Figgi4life - June 8, 2010 via mobile
The way he ran out the first attempt, he'd better be hitting it out of the park if he plans to go extras.
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
WTF?!? Why don't we have ball girls?? I would definitely buy a ticket on the field!
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Ball Girls > Girls with Balls
Wasn’t Moondoggy in Thailand?
Slasher52 - June 8, 2010
9 Ks now
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
10!
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
Sick, just sick.
Slasher52 - June 8, 2010
DOUBLE DIGITS!
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Is the record for a debut 15 K's?
Slasher52 - June 8, 2010
Yep
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
11 Ks
Strikes out the side again.
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
11 geeze
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
I wonder if he'll come out for the 7th
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
What was his pitch count?
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
He's at 80, the pitching coach said his max for today is 90
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
I heard on the radio it was 85 or 6 innings whichever came first
halofan1 - June 8, 2010
If the Nats score a few, I don't think so.
Otherwise, he’ll be back for one more.
Slasher52 - June 8, 2010
There's the lead!
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
Dunn and done.
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
Dunn 2 run HR. 3-2 Nationals
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Riggleman
looks miserable
Rev Halofan - June 8, 2010
Back to Back HRs
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
One thing I like about the Nats - celebratory handshakes
None of this high fives, fist bumps any of that rubbish. Proper handshakes. Very civilised.
The Limey - June 8, 2010
All they need now is a break for tea
Epic Dean - June 8, 2010
That would be perfect
The Limey - June 8, 2010
This has to be the most exciting Nationals/Pirates game i've ever seen
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
Or thats ever been
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
Or that anyone has seen
The Limey - June 8, 2010
Greatest Game In Nationals History
It will live on in infamy
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
what a great outing for Strasburg.
angelsfan7 - June 8, 2010
Oh hey, it's an Eckstein!
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
He's..... ba-ack!
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
Strasburg out for the 7th
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
An even dozen Ks
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
12 K's
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
wow 12 K's
angelsfan7 - June 8, 2010
Make it a Baker's Dozen K's
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
103mph?! In the 7th... that can't be right
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
13 Ks
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
their manager is stressing out
angelsfan7 - June 8, 2010
Mother of Christ
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
WOW
angelsfan7 - June 8, 2010
What a curve! Aaaah!
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
1.4.K.s
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
14 Ks
15 is the record for a major league debut
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Though I doubt he gets the chance to break the record
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
No, he's done.
But he could, if this game mattered at all, or if it was the last game of the season, or he was properly stretched out…
I don’t doubt he could fan two more, even if he was feeling gassed. But yeah, it’d be the wrong move long term.
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
Ya, I agree pulling him after 7 was the right move, though it would have been cool if he got a chance to break the record.
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
I wonder if they will let him go for the record - probably not
angelsfan7 - June 8, 2010
UNBELIEVABLE
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
Quite the most impressive debut I've ever seen, in any sport
I’d give him another inning, let him have a crack at it. You can only make history once.
The Limey - June 8, 2010
PH for Strasburg
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
yup
angelsfan7 - June 8, 2010
Boooooo!
The Limey - June 8, 2010
I agree to a point...
you don’t want him to get hurt in his first game.
angelsfan7 - June 8, 2010
although he looks like he could go back out - at least for the record
angelsfan7 - June 8, 2010
He struck everyone out in their starting lineup at least once.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before.
RexTookMyStash - June 8, 2010
I looked at all the comments and thought people were still talking about the draft
Kinda glad that’s not the case.
linkbruin - June 8, 2010
He could pull a 20K game this year...
HE IS BASEBALL
TheQuestforMerlin - June 8, 2010
How long until the stadium empties now he's done
Epic Dean - June 8, 2010
15 minutes
linkbruin - June 8, 2010
they're all still there
angelsfan7 - June 8, 2010
Maybe some of them don't know he can't pitch again after being subbed
RexTookMyStash - June 8, 2010
why would they leave
they are Nationals fans and they are winning the game.
ryanfea - June 8, 2010
we're just giving the nationals and their fans some hell
as their franchise warrants, until now apparently.
RexTookMyStash - June 8, 2010
They're emptying out some.
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
Next week...
the dude will face AL teams, can’t wait to see how he does.
SenorChuckles - June 8, 2010
When are they playing St Louis?
I want to see what Pujols makes of him
The Limey - June 8, 2010
they don’t have a series with the Cards until August.
SenorChuckles - June 8, 2010
Adam Kennedy!
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
Adam Kennedy!
~MMP~ - June 8, 2010
Adam Kennedy!
ryanfea - June 8, 2010
The scariest thing is that they have Bryce Harper too
They could potentially have the two most hyped players in the history of baseball.
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Nevertheless, the Angels will win the AL west for the fourth time in a row
RexTookMyStash - June 8, 2010
Kennedy with a play to end it, Strasburg with the win.
“A Curly W is in the books”
… wow.
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
Just a little bad news idk if anybody has heard this
but K-Mos injury is worse than expected and broke his Ankle and tibia and no timetable for his return has been set. This is terrible.
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
So his Season is officially over?
No chance to even return for the playoffs?
ryanfea - June 8, 2010
They don't have a time table.
But I’m assuming with two breaks it is most likely playoffs or nothing. And his surgery is scheduled for thursday.
angelskid2210 - June 8, 2010
Ah shit.
AlanFalcon - June 8, 2010
Yeah, he's/we're effed
Those tibia sheers are no joke. Five months minimum. And he’ll probably be arthritic later on. Totally freakin’ bummer.
GrichManPoorMan - June 9, 2010
Something to think about
In 2008, after 156 games were played:
Mariners record: 57-99
Nationals record: 58-98
The Mariners had a one game lead with six games to go.
They were SOOOOOOOO close to getting Strasburg.
Whew.
