Final Score in Anaheim: Dodgers More Angels Less
Final Score in Confederate Territory: Pittsburgh Pirates Less Cocaine Cakewalkers More

Hey, I got an idea.
Let's have a 4 hour baseball game.
And it will be a blowout at some point.
Maybe unplug some lights
So the there is a delay of 18 minutes
Meanwhile, down in the Confederate States
The Washington Cocaine Cakewalkers of Arlington
Broom-Beat on a Double A team from Pittsburgh
And you can only laugh at the fact that
The coke-snorting cake factory is being handed
the easiest schedule in baseball history
and trip over themselves when offered the chance
to walk away with this division.
they should be up by ten games.
Mike Scioscia eats 4 and a half game leads as an appetizer before lunch.
Lunch at a restaurant where Ron Washington's coke whores never visit.
This game wrap can be sung to the tune of that one song, you know the one, not their big hit, the one that they used in the movie.

If Wood is as toxic with a spatula as he is with his glove
expect at least half the cookout crowd to die from ptomaine poisoning.
Quad Fin Rider - June 24, 2010
I suggest NONE of the players eat any food at that event
they have a game to play that night.
angelsfan7 - June 24, 2010
**** Brandon Wood.
Get this ****ing loser off our ****ing team. He is ****ing garbage.
He is ****ing awful at the ****ing plate. He couldn’t hit the ****ing ball if you put it on the
****ing tee for him.
And don’t even get me started on this mother****ers defensive abilities. He is the most uncoordinated **** I have ever seen. He can’t even throw the ****ing ball.
In closing, I say **** Brandon Wood.
bc56274 - June 24, 2010
Why don't you tell us how you really feel about Wood?
~MMP~ - June 24, 2010
Matsui is nearly as useless.
44FAN - June 24, 2010
Are there any other viable options?
HALO N BRIMSTONE - June 24, 2010
No way.
Matsui is Babe Ruth in comparison to that worthless Brandon Wood.
Seriously, this guy is the worst baseball player I’ve ever witnessed. Pull the plug on him,
he is Terri Schiavo, just end it already.
bc56274 - June 24, 2010
yeah, but that JEFF MATHIS!
he’s a real winner! Brian Fuentes is the man! I loves me some Fernando Rodney right now! Hideki Matsui is KILLING the ball!
quit beating the same drum, you whiny little girl. there are players sucking just as bad as Wood is, and they get the free pass…. why? If you’re going to whine and cry about one player, do it about the rest, too.
seriously… it’s getting old.
howiestheman - June 25, 2010
Thanks
someone had to say it.
I’m really bitter today. Damn base running errors piss me off more than guys who wear crocs.
RexTookMyStash - June 25, 2010
When the others...
…..are hitting below their weight, making multiple errors a game, and looking clueless on the base paths, I will.
Until then, shut up.
bc56274 - June 25, 2010
Such a goddamn joke
that the Rangers are playing the interleague schedule they are. It’s nice to only be 4.5 back, but this team is just being handed game after game by teams that have no business on the same field as an MLB team…padding their place in the standings with the absolute worst of the worst.
Caseys Kiss of Death - June 24, 2010
And all the while every club in baseball including the Angels is subsidizing the Rangers with
the 20 million dollars Bud Selig has handed to them out of the MLB general fund. Now they want to acquire either Oswalt or Cliff Lee. Where is that money going to come from?
44FAN - June 24, 2010
They shouldn't be allowed to buy jack shit
Fuck’em. Worthless bottom-feeding franchise. Congrats on winning 11 straight against the worst teams in baseball, you assholes.
Caseys Kiss of Death - June 24, 2010
...and their next series is against against...the Astros!
sothball - June 25, 2010
subsidized
chump fans won’t pay, chump owner won’t finance, chump would-be owner wants team for free… finally a judge has put a stop to the chumps getting it their way.
Rev Halofan - June 24, 2010
I can't believe this is happening
OCangels - June 25, 2010
The lesson for the low-payroll teams in baseball is that incompetent financial mismanagement is profitable
Forget the Rangers’ schedule; that’s a non-issue.
The fact that the rest of baseball is funding the Rangers’ success is an absolute joke. The Rangers needed a bailout last year as well when they couldn’t meet payroll. And what do they do in the off-season? They continue to spend by picking up free agents Vlad, Darren Oliver and Rich Harden. All of those transactions should have been voided.
The Rangers should be renamed the GM/Chrysler/Goldman Sachs/AIG Bailout Buddies.
Fan Since 1981 - June 25, 2010
you would have no problem with this...
…if the angels were in first place.
truetexan1912 - June 25, 2010
Every team needs to operate within its means.
But good for the Rangers* to take advantage of the opportunity.
Fan Since 1981 - June 25, 2010
you must be confused
“The sport’s central office routinely withholds $15 million to
$20 million owed each team from central revenues and the sale of
the Montreal Expos, and teams may borrow from that with the
permission of commissioner Bud Selig.”
Other teams are not “subsidizing” the Rangers as you would like to believe…at least no more than any other revenue-sharing plan would dictate.
willamos2 - June 25, 2010
This still doesn't absolve the Rangers from incompetent financial mismanagement
Which is clearly demonstrated by the Rangers’ debt burden and the loans on which they defaulted.
As per financial data published by Forbes in April 2010:
The Rangers have the WORST debt/value ratio in all of baseball; 105%. It’s no wonder they are currently in Chapter 11.
The Angels however are 3rd best in baseball with a debt/value ratio of just 7%. (Tip of the Hat to Arte Moreno.)
You note that the Rangers borrowed from MLB. In other words a team that is grossly over its head in debt………………….has to continue to pile on debt through additional borrowing.
From the Chapter 11 proceedings:
“Creditors have argued that the team doesn’t just owe $75 million, but is obligated to pay more than $525 million in loans that team owner Tom Hicks’ ownership group defaulted on last year.”
Quoted from The News Tribune
Fan Since 1981 - June 25, 2010
as a texas fan..
i agree with you that tom hicks is an idiot and cant handle money
truetexan1912 - June 25, 2010
Only $75 million of that debt had the Rangers baseball club itself as collateral
A bunch of the debt is unsecured and owed by Hicks Sports Group, not by the Rangers. HSG went halfsies in buying Liverpool FC; the Rangers didn’t (and that’s where most of this debt came from).
The best analogy I can think of is a creditor trying to go after a debtor’s children for money.
Inkara1 - June 25, 2010
Keep in mind...
…that the Rangers let Marlon Byrd walk and traded Kevin Millwood to free up salary room. They also didn’t re-sign Joaquin Benoit, Pudge Rodriguez, Hank Blalock, Eddie Guardado or Omar Vizquel.
A quick check of payrolls online shows the Rangers’ payroll on opening day was $55.2 million, which is $13 million less than opening day 2009.
Tom Hicks is a bad businessman, for sure, but it’s not like we’re all subsidizing the Yankees or Red Sox here.
Inkara1 - June 25, 2010
Wood the ultimate liability
Anyone know where Johnny Rivers was tonight?
HALO N BRIMSTONE - June 24, 2010
if you want him around iin September
you gotta rest him every 8 or so games in summer
Rev Halofan - June 24, 2010
Now that was a longgggg game
What ever happened to the "Give Brandon Wood a full season, I don’t care how he does (Halo Heaven bloggers). "
vladtheimpaler - June 24, 2010
I'm still driving that train
and Ron Washington is still high on cocaine.
Rev Halofan - June 25, 2010
Drivin' that train
High on cocaine
Ron Washington you’d better watch your speed
red floyd - June 25, 2010

RexTookMyStash - June 25, 2010
Damn you all. We have a shit bullpen and we lost our star offensive weapon.
Yet we still are a viable threat to win the AL west. And we will. Mark my word.
Watch out Rockies. That John Denver was full of shit. The bankrupt texas cake-walkers will one day have to face a real effin team.
Signing off.
RexTookMyStash - June 25, 2010
IL schedule is unfavorable, yes
but we’ll win no matter what. they’re red hot against bad teams. let’s remember that our scorching streak of hot baseball was against seattle and kansas city. IL play is unbalanced by definition, but we get our say with a texas team that dropped us in a two-game series not that long ago.
you either accept an unbalanced schedule as part of IL, or you don’t. i’d like to complain, but i LIKE the Freeway Series enough to tolerate a few bad years where Texas plays the Toledo Mud Hens.
Kernel - June 25, 2010
i agree...
It seems beneath Angels fans to whine about opponents schedules. But, i think we’re all in agreement that the division is well within our grasp.
Furthermore…
Brandon Wood is a tool, well worse than a tool cause some tools are useful.
The elephant in the room appears to be Vladdy’s stats vs. Matsui’s stats.
The honeymoon for Francisco Rodriguez Part Deux appears to be over.
Jimmmie - June 25, 2010
With regards to Vlad, hindsight is 20/20
His slugging percentage kept dropping year-after-year.
2004: .598
2005: .565
2006: .552
2007: .547
2008: .521
2009: .460
2010: .544
It was not realistic to predict that his power would return to what it was three years ago. Throw in the fact that he’s had injuries, turned 35 this year, and he wanted a 2-year deal, it is not surprising that the Angels did not re-sign him. In fact, he didn’t sign his deal with Texas until January 2010, which means plenty of teams passed up on the opportunity to have him.
Vlad Info
Fan Since 1981 - June 25, 2010
he's playing in a bandbox
Reggie freaking Willits could slug .500 in that joke of a stadium.
I addressed Vlad’s splits in another thread… he’s benefiting GREATLY from hitting in Texas.
