Final score in Anaheim: Halos 5, Brew Crew 1

Dear Betty-
We finally beat those dang Brewers! Today I pitched another awesome game. Although I didn't get the complete game like I did in my last game against the Dodgers, I only allowed 3 hits in nine innings. In fact, the only batter who was able to get into scoring position was the guy who homered off me in the 3rd inning. I felt like I was in a groove the whole game as 77 of my 109 pitches were strikes, and I struck out 5 hitters (or should I say none-hitters, ha!).
I felt really good for my catcher Bobby Wilson. He hit his first major league home run today, a three-run shot in the bottom of the second. My other buddy, Mike Napoli also homered while going 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored. I'll have to introduce you to Naps, he's really cool.
And guess who's back! Yep, Brandon Wood! And guess who got a hit! Yep, Wood singled in today's game (and only struck out once).
I better go, we head out to Chicago to play the Cubs this weekend.
See you soon-
Joel

I'm here now, too!
I didn’t show up in the threads on purpose. I didn’t even watch the game to avoid jinxing things.

I was listening in the truck.
Got home in time to see the last two outs.

TIP OF THE HAT
WAG OF THE FINGER
Did he ever show that kind of fiery emotion with the Angels?

“#Angels also designate Michael Ryan for assignment — likely clearing space for Jeff Mathis’ return on Thursday”

I've also heard
that Aybar will not need a trip to the DL

That is surprising
I would think that a torn meniscus or “meniscus damage” would require surgery to repair, especially for an athlete. My older son tore his meniscus at age 11 and surgery was the only option the orthopedist gave me….thankfully he healed quickly and was shooting hoops 4 weeks later and doing competitive Irish Dancing 8 weeks later. Now he runs track, no problems at all with the knee. Anybody else here know about this injury, and if surgery is an option or a must-do?

Soth
Thinks he will play this weekend against Chicago. I’m not sure that “Meniscus damage” means a tear
ryanfea - June 16, 2010
Surgery is almost ALWAYS an option, not a must-do.
Unless there is a full tear or rupture, it is possible to go the conservative rehab route (PT). Granted, it’s quite different in the world of professional sports, due to the athletic level they need to be at, and the fact that you want to spend as little time as possible healing..
b0rd3rline - June 17, 2010
As far as I know
And this could be wrong, but I think meniscus damage is just like a sprain. If he had torn or ruptured an MCL or ACL, he’d be out much longer.

Is Ryan really DFA? Didn't he start the season in SLC?
red floyd - June 16, 2010
That would make sense if they just optioned him to AAA and cleared the spot of the 25 man roster
by DFAing him they open a spot on the 40. Could be a precursor to a trade
Epic Dean - June 16, 2010
Michael Kohn added to the 40
and activated HOPEFULLY

The game was at 4PM PST...
in order to allow more Cheez-Heads to watch their team lose.

Just to look at, I hope
And not to actually drink
Gorbachav5 - June 17, 2010
just got home from the game
pineiro was fantastic, but i had to give the POTG to bobby wilson for his first HR that gave us a nice lead.

Look like
it was time to shake up the old lineup!
Scioscia must have thought we needed something to get the bats going.
Barca - June 16, 2010
Well, that plus both Aybar and Gazoo were out
red floyd - June 16, 2010
We drank that Brew
Suck it Milwaukee

2 things
1. Didn’t think you’d be familiar with DX
2. We avoided the sweep… not like we swept them

and here I was trying to erase the memory of my childish TV shows.
SenorChuckles - June 17, 2010
How sad is it that B Wood gets a Potg option for singling and striking out 'only once'
Well,. I got to say, I am pleasantly surprised b Pineiro. He is better than I gave him credit for. Will it hold up for the summer, and when it really counts?
Wally's World - June 16, 2010
I almost voted for Brandy
Good defense today. That’s all I expect until Aybar and Iz come back.
Yeah, I know, small expectations but better than nothing.
vladtheimpaler - June 17, 2010
Brandy
