4) Mathis started to rake in the post season last year. he followed that up by raking this season before he was hurt.
conclusion:
Mathis (when he comes back from the DL) should be our day-to-day catcher. Soth trusts him the pitchers trust him. the infield trusts him. and he throws out base-runners.
He says that Hatcher has been trying to get him to swing that way, telling him NOT to use the inside-out swing so much. Doesn’t seem very believable to me.
Neither of which I’d be excited about. If Reckling develops a shade more control he has to be the obvious choice. He was the only one even remotely effective in Spring and is the only one with a legit future in a rotation.

Lackey keep getting the outside corners, but Pinerio doesn’t? I swear, Lackey throws a borderline pitch, and he gets a strike, but when PInerio throws the exact same pitch, its called a ball. It seems like the strike zone gets so much wider with Lackey on the plate.
