Two-Bit Angels Shutout by Blue Jays

Final Score in Los Angeles of Anaheim: Blue Jays 6 ... Angels 0 ... The birds from Canada caused the Angels to lay a goose egg in front of the hometown faithful Monday night. The three hits the Angels managed (1 through the first 7) were the buzzkill of at least giving fans a no-hitter to brag about seeing instead of getting the golden ticket to tomorrow night's "Angels Garden Gnome" giveaway.

Star-divide

Like the billboard on their centerfield wall, the Angels' offense is not actual size. A nice effort by starter Joe Saunders was mutilated in the 7th inning by relief pitcher Jason Bulger. Walks, walks and more walks. Ugghh. But give it up to Brett Cecil, the Blue Jays pitcher who showed what he could do when you combine a lineup of over the hill major leaguers with AAA-tops talent.

Big changes are in store for the team, though... Look for Brandon Wood to be DL'd and Maicer Izturis to come aboard the sinking ship tomorrow or Wednesday. This should make Izzy a prime candidate for the leadoff spot as sleepwalking Erick Aybar has injected his bat with Nyquil. Don't be surprised if some bullpen shuffling kicks a few jocks in their plastic cups before the end of this home stand. And you gotta wonder if Howie Kendrick will be able to look at himself in the mirror soon as his terrible night at the plate officially made him worse on the field than he is in front of the camera in those dreaded Howard's Commercials.

The Angels were shut out for the first time this season. Their pitching allowed 8 walks. They made 2 errors. It is called garbage. Take out the trash, please.

Loser Limerick
We were the final team to get shutout
This season is tearing my gut out

it sucked
That's putting it mildly
Heard on the radio...

“fans, please vote for your angels for the all star game! Vlad is well ahead of matsui so please start voting…”. voting for who???? Are they kidding me? matsui is a total bust while vladdy shines…

gonna be a sweet slice of revenege

when Vladdy gets a standing in Anaheim on July 13 on national TV

Vlad IS our Angel!!!
if he is'nt completely crippled by then

he is just one aggravating an old injury, torn scar tissue away from being out for a month or two.

matsui has been out for a few months already

scioscia just doesn’t know it yet

Nice to see the 2009 offense was an anomaly. :-(

We’re right back to Mickey Hatcher sucky offense hell.

Hac-at-it-cher

that is how his name is pronounced

Let the Losing Tradition of the 60', 70', 80', and 90's begin

TrAdition

I want Mo Vaughn

Good news is, there's no way the team plays this poorly all season
BWAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAH!!!!
do we play the

pirates and astros? and Nationals?

we get the Orioles
I hope you're right

but at this point, that’s just an educated guess.. For my part, I’m starting to get an awful feeling in the pit of my stomach that maybe PECOTA and all the other predictions of a mid-80s win season were on to something.

A Stopped Clock

is right twice a day.

I wish I played for the Angels

Then I would get paid millions for looking at strikes and swinging at balls

Well

this was a poor game to be at live. Literally nothing Angels wise was worth seeing. Concessions also sucked…

what was wrong with the concessions?
I had to repeat my order at least 6 times

guy couldn’t keep track of more than one thing at a time

classic

City of Anaheim hires through payola “jobs program” scams that are kickbacks galore. You can bet that minimum wage kid with a disability is budgeted at thirty per hour and some cocksucking administrator is getting $23 of that, kicking some back to the COA dipshit in charge in an envelope of cash every month and they are both laughing about the great service in a suite at the staples center watching the lakers.

Thanks for the tip Rev...

My (mildly autistic) son had a job like that last summer. He really enjoyed it—worked at the local library, where other adult non-diagnosed mildly autistic folks already work.
Unfortunately this summer, no $$ to hire him or provide payola for others. Bummer for all. County of Orange sponsored this program last year.
My son wouldn’t remember a six item order, but he can remember six steps to achieve the next video game level. That’s just being a teenager.

the irony

if the “programs” were just actual companies, they would be slightly profitable and provide jobs, but then who would give the slime at city hall their envelopes of cash?

oh and by the way i mean every city hall, fuck you all.

I had bought a $90 hoodie for the wife...

and the fucker is falling apart. Can’t locate the receipt, so I’m screwed.

when did you buy it

and how did you pay?

You are so NOT screwed……just gotta know the game

I know the location, date and time exactly, but I paid cash. I got it at one of the team stores at the stadium.

I was there tonight too.

During pitching changes in the 7th I went to get some nachos (which turned out to be $6.50 for an unopened bag of tortilla chips and a side of hot diarrhea cheese) and the lady nearly threw a fit in front of me complaining to her superior that she should be off right now and not have to work considering she was the first one in. I don’t know who pissed me off more, her or the bullpen.

Get your nachos from one of the carts. I think those are closer to the real thing.
I think I will.

Normally I just bring in some Del Taco. Let that be a lesson to those who want to branch out.

That's it.

I want complete games from all the starters from now on. Pitch count be damned.

that was depressing
can we not put hitters 1-8 up for botg

without bulger the game still would have been 2-0

1-8 is the gnome
daaaang it

can i change my vote

Brett Cecil....

man oh man. Is this rock bottom or have we been there and just can’t seem to crawl out? On the bright side Tyler Skaggs and Will Smith both threw good back to back games for their minor league clubs. No matter what I’ll always be backing these guys through thick and thin. I wasn’t there through the losing season and crappy teams and I hope I never have to experience that, but if this year is that year then bring it on baby!!

More errors in your write up than the game
You must have missed the game.
i saw 1 of the hits

matsui looks locked in hahaha.

I still can’t believe Frandsen is getting starts at 3rd. If I were a power hitting prospect with the Angels, I’d start learning how to be a poor fielding slap hitter.

If i were a power hitting prospect with the Angels, I’d start putting the ball in play instead of swinging at pitches like I’m playing wiffle ball

Was at the game tonight...

one word says it all….LACKLUSTER. Although I would also settle for Piss Poor.

Crowd left in droves right on cue ... 9:30 rule all the way...

Shields’ entry really cleared the house. I stayed to the bitter end hoping for a run. What a fool I am.

You and I both

I moved down into the 100 section and could tell every pitch Howie took for a strike was indeed a strike. Why couldn’t he?

an overlooked and frustrating fact

bout sitting too close.

I find it extremely humorous that we will host the All Star game this season and...

…have no players that deserve to be on the team. Maybe Girardi will appoint WTY to pitch for him?

Rev, your headline should have read, “If it looks like shit, smells like shit, and tastes like shit, it must be shit!” “You can’t polish a turd!”

To hell teams with bird names.
Even the Orioles?

We could probably beat them

I would not put money on that right now.
Is THAT how you spell it?

Oh.

Damn...I had the lowest hits in the pregame...

but still lost out. I still overshot at 3.

It's a game of inches.
Too bad my measuring stick is in feet.

;)

Glad I didn't watch this game

It won’t get any easier tomorrow with Ricky Romero.

Just got home from the game,

The Colonel was okay, if not great, our offense was what’s the word? Craptastic. And our BP was the usual catastrophe that it always is. The only thing that saved this night was the fact that the ticket was free…and it was the Halos.

Highlight of my night

was getting so pissed off at the game that I ended up throwing peanuts at some dildo Toronto fan who would stand up and taunt the crowd. I don’t care if that’s Doyer stadium etiquette, I’ve had it and I can’t throw things at the horrible offense or bullpen.

I’ll stick this season out to the bitter end, I always have. In the off season I’ll count the days until spring training like I did when I was a kid and on opening day I’ll take the day off work or school like I always have. That being said, this season is really sucking some joy out of baseball for me. The Halos are too good to be performing this poorly.

peanut tossing

peanuts are too good to toss at opposing fans without first dipping them in catchup, mustard or worst of all… ranch dressing. If you are going to be a dick, leave your stain.

Not a bad idea at all.

Kind of reminds me of the stories my dad has about tossing batteries at Lasorda. I imagine that would leave a mark.

Ranch dressing Rev? hehehehehehe

now that is a stain and a foul smeeling treat for the drive home on a hot summers day. Nothing like spoiled dairy based products to give the nose a special treat.

"If you are going to be a dick, leave your stain".

Poetic

in Fenway a few years back some nice Boston fan thought it’d be cool to squirt ketchup on the back of my halos jersey. i didn’t even know about it until the end of the game. needless to say we lost, Papi hit a GS off Weaver, Schilling got the win (yuk), and I ended up looking like a maxi pad. not sure what I did to piss them off, although I was cheering pretty loudly when Figgy hit his leadoff homerun.

This is frustrating...

Hope it gets better… (hold my breath) I hope I don’t pass out!

I Dont Get It

We all know this team has talent, the starting 5 pitchers can pitch with anybody in this league (the roys, the cebathias), our offense is deep 1-9, n we have some good arms in our bullpen. so y cant we get it together. we are better then this. its becoming more n more frustrating to watch this team. They need to get it together soon, cuz if not its gonna be an early exit for us this year.

THANK YOU FRONT OFFICE !!!!

Or is that F You Front Office !
I would rather be watching Vladdy swing harder than any human being on the planet and miss, watch him hobble around the bases, ride the pine injured, and stiff my son for an autograph than watch the little reptile.
I would rather be watching Figgy struggle a little getting on base yet playing his ass off at 3rd, than having to put up with our current 3rd base dynamic duo of “Splinter” & “Fill in the Blank”.
And as shitty as our starting pitching is, I still say F YOU to Lackey for being a Red SUCK

Can I Get A Witness !
F You Lackey!
Thank goodness for the series finale of 24

It sucked less than the Angels did last night.

speaking of gnomes

I heard they are still on a boat in the Pacific and won’t be in Anaheim for another 2 days.

you heard it here first!

tell those little bastards to start rowing faster
That was priceless

row, row, row, you live to serve this ship!

they’ve got tiny paddles!

how the hell

are the dodgers, blue jays, the reds and the A’s better then us, better record, better pitching, better bull pen

I STILL fault the snuggies.

and the… wait for it….

NATIONALS

yea

ur right the nationals. aww man this bites

How come

we cant be consistent and go on a 7 or 8 game winning streak
