When I was a kid and the Angels always sucked this bad people would GIVE us free tickets in the first row behind the dugout. I sense some quality free duckets in my near future.
One incident that Fats Waller later in life recalls happened in 1926. He was performing in Chicago, the day before a couple of gangsters jumped on stage with machine guns looking for someone. The next day he was performing when he noticed the same two guys in the first row. During the show there were no incidences but afterwards those two same men met him in the back of the Hotel Sherman. The jammed a revolver in his side and ordered him into a car. The drove him a few miles away and stopped in front of Al Capone’s headquarters. They walked through a crowd of people to a piano where he was ordered to play by gun point. It was a surprise birthday party of Al Capone and he was a present for the boss. Every time Capone asked Fats to play a request he would give him 100 dollars. The party lasted 3 days and by the end Fats had made several thousand dollars in tips. When asked by his kids what was most memorable about the incident re replied, "it was the first time [I] ever drank champagne" (63). This was common for Fats to be thrown into uncomfortable situations and leave the head of the party.

One incident that Fats Waller later in life recalls happened in 1926. He was performing in Chicago, the day before a couple of gangsters jumped on stage with machine guns looking for someone. The next day he was performing when he noticed the same two guys in the first row. During the show there were no incidences but afterwards those two same men met him in the back of the Hotel Sherman. The jammed a revolver in his side and ordered him into a car. The drove him a few miles away and stopped in front of Al Capone’s headquarters. They walked through a crowd of people to a piano where he was ordered to play by gun point. It was a surprise birthday party of Al Capone and he was a present for the boss. Every time Capone asked Fats to play a request he would give him 100 dollars. The party lasted 3 days and by the end Fats had made several thousand dollars in tips. When asked by his kids what was most memorable about the incident re replied, "it was the first time [I] ever drank champagne" (63). This was common for Fats to be thrown into uncomfortable situations and leave the head of the party.
