K-Mo is the heart of our offense, no doubt about it, but without Weaver, I think our season might be over already. This dude is the leader of our pitching staff and is becoming an ace.
let him do all the things he’s great at right up until gametime. Then pay a 7th grader…. strike that…. let a 7th grader intern with the Angels and have him follow Soth’s flowcharts during the game. This would allow Soth to go home early, get a good meal and nap in him, and we could probably negotiate to cut his salary in half. Then we could follow the intern through the rest of his Jr. High and High School career and if he has a GPA of 2.5 or higher we could send him to the College of the Desert and he could train to take over for Tony in like 15 years…..
We might want to buy out their arbitration years. . .
in addition to signing them to a long term deal. Generally, the team has been risk averse in this regard. They don’t like buying out arbitration years, even when it means extending a player for a team favorable contract.
This is why I would be in favor of negotiating an extension this off-season, rather than waiting for 2012.
Generally, you don’t see Boras clients signing these kinds of extensions, though. If you’re a player, you retain Boras for one reason and one reason alone. You want test the waters of free agency and get the maximum contract possible.
K-Mo and Jered
Although they both have Scott Boras as their agent.

No-one is untouchable
Whatever needs to be done for the long-term good of the team, needs to be done.

Weave for sure

Robb Quinlan and Reggie Willits
Because they are truly the heart and soul of this team.

I voted 'other'
If there is any Angel that is untouchable, it is Scioscia himself.
As The Limey said, “No-one is untouchable”

I say we rework Soth's deal

Weaver and Morales are the only Halos I would want signed to a long term deal
And unfortunately, they are both clients of "he who should not be named.
righteous halo - May 24, 2010
And making the deals with "he who shall not be named"
is absolutely necessary, though it will clean out the tills (is that next year, btw, or 2012?)

In the spirit of the question
I’ll say K-Mo gets the ever so slight nod over Weaver.
in the broader sense however, The Limey is correct.

I hate to say it but NO ONE...
Emotionally, I would say Weaver and K-Mo.
However, in reality, I can see foresee some blockbuster deal that would leave us without one of these Angels in exchange for a couple of big names.
K-Mo over Weav at this point. I love Weaver but I am not convinced he is top-of-the-league pitcher yet despite all the King Felix comparisons.
After this year, though, I might change my mind.

If Pujols wasn't a free agent this offseason
I would say Kendry, but since I am allowed to dream, I say keep Weaver, sign Pujols, then trade Kendry.
Dono Romantico - May 24, 2010
Pujols, we don't need any more Divas on this team.
