Final Score in Anaheim: Angels 4, A's 0 ... Joel Pineiro pitched a complete game 4 hitter over the suddenly punchless Athletics, Bobby Abreu hit a HR for some late insurance and the Angels swept the Oakland Athletics in a weekend that may have saved the Angels sputtering early season.
The A's as comprised now are basically a Triple A team, but considering that the Angels early season strength of schedule matchups have been the most overbearing in all of baseball, hey, who cares? As they say in Oakland, Just Win Baby...
The Halo is lit tonight as the team flies to Arlington West Arkansas to play the fake Texans in a two game series. The Angels are now just two and a half games behind the cocaine-managed Arkansas Rang-Rovers in the American League West.

You deserve it
great work
And, in case anyone is interested, Blast has the perfect loud ballpark voice. That will come in handy when Sux fans show up

cross eyed?
I wonder if that’s how Papelbon got that way. No, he was like that before the iPhone. Must be the inbreeding.

Makes my day. I wish I had a kid to put in ETrade ads

I just want to thank the A's for letting us beat them up for a weekend
and finally not be the ones getting beaten up. Hopefully this will turn things around as we head into the Texas. Hopefully the starting pitching dominates and the bats catch fire in the Texas heat!

According to the guys on Lookout Landing,
Texas is not all they’re said to be.

I wonder how they're going to spin the Andre Ethier for Milton Bradley trade in the "Moneyball" movie
Quad Fin Rider - May 16, 2010
For trading Ethier, haha, that is funny.
I got into a conversation on A’s nation about bad trades, and brought that one up. Milton Bradley for Ethier. It was hilarious because no one could just admit it was a bad trade. Yah, Bradley helped them to the ALCS, but c’mon. Ethier is a budding superstar, and we all know what became of Bradley.
Wally's World - May 16, 2010
Actually not that hard to defend
Bradley helped them get to the only AL west title they had a chance for. Ethier would have turned 75 win teams into 80 win teams the last few years. And now he’d be too expensive. Bet if he were kept in 2006 Beane would have traded him this past offseason.

Just like to point out...
The Angels are 3-0 during my california vacation. Also the last year I lived in this state was 2002.

Bad luck Mariners
Seems like whenever they have a situation where a big hit will win the game, the shitty part of the lineup is up. Or maybe it should be the lineup part of the shitty.

Outfield fail
I’ve become accustomed to seeing outfield fail and this series did not disappoint. All it takes is a little Jack Cust. He’s contagious, just look at Eric Patterson.

Is that 2 straight shut-outs for Napoli?
The Angel pitchers must be doing extra well having to pitch to Napoli.
The hurlers should be credited with a minus 1 in ERA on the days he catches.
Yes, that is sarcasm.
Barca - May 17, 2010
I noticed pineiro's comments after the game though...
He said he is beginning to trust napoli and they are starting to get on the same page. Implying that before these last few games, he didnt trust napoli to throw down the right signs. Early comments about mathis had been about how great it was to have no doubt in the catcher’s calls, etc…
Perhaps if napoli can stop going all 2008 jeff mathis with the bat and hit something, this improved confidence from the pitching staff will mean more playing time.
Balls and Strikes - May 17, 2010
I was at the game with an A's fan
And he was surprised at how many groundballs Pinata induced. He definitely had his sinker working for him yesterday, great game to be at!
