about 2 years ago: ANAHEIM, CA - APRIL 05: Catcher Joe Mauer #7 of the Minnesota Twins stands on the field during warm ups prior to their Opening Day game against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at Angel Stadium on April 5, 2010 in Anaheim, California. (Photo by Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images)
Joe Mauer, one of the game's great "good guys," was interviewed by Jeff Biggs, pregame show host for AM-830 (radio home of the Angels), in the clubhouse prior to Wednesday's game in Anaheim. Biggsy discussed Mauer's contract, how long Joe will be able to continue catching for the Twins and talks about the art of catching, and more! Click the link below and enjoy...
As far as interviews go, Mauer has one of the great midwestern accents in the game today. Thanks to AM-830 for sending us these audio files.

Something wrong with midwestern accents?
NoDakHalo - April 8, 2010
what is a Soda PAP?
Rev Halofan - April 8, 2010
most don't even say the "soda" part...
its just “pap”
to distance myself i refer to what we call “pap” as “soda”
I know I am guilty of the goofy accent though. no matter how hard I try it always seems to come out, “North Dakooooooooota”
NoDakHalo - April 8, 2010
I do the same thing
It’s “soda”, not “pop”
WiHaloFan - April 8, 2010
Soda is NEHI.
44FAN - April 8, 2010
Actually we just call it pop here.
Now if you were to cross the border into Wisconsin…… good luck understanding a word they’re saying. We may have an accent here but at least we use real English words. Sconnies call drinking fountains bubblers.

the infamous "bubbler"
went to college in madison…..that damn word got me every time.

Say what, say what?
What. I was just about to defend Wisconsin.
Orange County, have I been gone too long??

My wife is from Washington state........and of Norwegian ancestry;
I didn’t notice any accent.
wumbug - April 8, 2010
Seattle is a suburb of Norway
Isn’t it good Norweigian Wood?
Rev Halofan - April 8, 2010
Lots of Norwegians there........
and Mauer definately has a polished twang that sounds like a lot of the older ones to me. However, I don’t know if “Mauer” is Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, or whatever. Living in that area leads one to think that he’s one of these.
How ’bout it, WiHalofan?

Thanks for posting
I love him. He may or may not be on my List.
(I’m one of the few girls that posts at this site, BTW)
