Angels are LOBsters in Loss to Tribe

Final Score in Anaheim: Angels 2, Indians 9 ... Joe Saunders had his second straight terrible start. Every inning seemingly began with Saunders allowing a leadoff double. While the game was close the Angels bats were a tease with double digits of men left on base, including bases loaded situations in two innings that could not be resolved with even one darn run.

Matt Palmer was terrible in mop up duty, letting a medium-close game disappear. A lone bright spot was Brandon Wood's second consecutive 3-Hit game, including his first homer of 2010.

So yeah

FML

second straight game that I forgot to unbench Woody.

With your uncanny skill...

continue benching Wood and acquire and PLAY Kearns tomorrow.

It is done

My lose streak shall continue.

Wood for MVP

i think we can offically say Wood has turned the corner and will be a MVP candidate every year, and i think its safe to say we have the best 3rd basemen in baseball

YESSS!!!

YESSS!!!

The best 3rd baseman

EVER

If Wood or Kendrick had the kind of game napoli had

I bet they’d be leading in votes.
Nice to see Saunders getting the blame he deserves this time.

I voted for Naps.

Not only because of his bat, but because he was the one calling the game.

Yeah but the problem was Saundo's control

Unless Napoli was calling for pitches to bounce 8 feet in front of the place, this one is on Saunders.

Ya, Saunders really needs to get his shit together.
For the first time in a long, long time...

..I left the game early. Saunders looked terrible. He’s reminded me of the injured Saunders of last year over the last 2 starts. Runners constantly on base. Lots of 0-2, 1-2 counts that turn to 3-2. He’s lucky to get 3 DP’s. Overall, a pathetic effort.

Matsui is so..damn…slow. In an effort to score, he was a step beyond 3B when the right fielder got to the ball…and was thrown out easily at home plate. The 6th inning was unbelievable. Bases loaded with one out. Rivera hit the ball about as hard as possible. Right to Kearns. Then Howie hit the ball just as hard. Right to Sizemore. So many missed opportunities.

I left after Palmer gave up the 3 run double to Kearns. It was just too painful to keep watching.

I hope Santana has a better game tomorrow.

I left at the same time. Just didn't need to see that anymore...
The only reason now I wish I had stayed...

…is Wood hitting his 1st HR this year.
But really…that game was awful. Bad starting pitching, bad relief pitching, and no clutch hitting. The only highlights were the 3 DP’s, and…I can’t think of much more that I actually saw.

Same here.

I gave up before the one highlight: B. Woods’ blast—damn!
Did he hit it over the left field fence btw?

it was to LF into the bullpen

it looked like it could have been robbed

Oh, so I guess it wasn't legitimate then.

Right, MH25?

Rivera would have had it.
I just can't leave early.

The only time I remember leaving early was 2 or 3 years ago losing 12-0 if I recall to the Royals in the 7th. I woulda stayed but my ride wanted to leave. That’s why I drive myself to the games now.

+1

Me, too. Although, I am traumatizing my young kids by making them stay to the bitter end. I think they will hate professional baseball altogether by the time they go through therapy.

Thanks for making my exit that much easier...

and I got to see Woody’s first HR of 2010! woot!

I dont understand why Sosh had Palmer pitching to Kearns

in that situation anyway.

Saunders

Is putting up numbers like his career FIP suggests. So much for him being the #2.

yep

needs to find the luck

Palmer was a gas can on a campfire

If he threw the fastball it was hammered. If he threw anything else it was way off the strike zone and usually in the dirt. He made sure there would be no catching up tonight. He gets my vote.

The win pic was up to soon

bachi

Scottnak...

I should have had 100,000 on “yes” tonight, but don’t see my name listed anywhere.

Thanks.

your bet was not recorded

sorry.

I wonder if it was because I used a comma in the 100,000

oh well….thanks.

At least you had points to bet.

Must be nice.

yes that must be it

that would explain it.

That explains it.

Oh well, I’ll leave the comma out for tomorrow’s game.

I bet 10,000 on Yes

And my bet wasn’t recorded either, apparently. The problem in my case was probably the fact that I didn’t have 10,000 points to bet, but I wasn’t aware until after my bet was placed (and accepted). Had I known, I would’ve bet less.

Oh well.

If you bet more points than available, then you get an error message...

Trust me, I keep trying to bet ONE POINT just for giggles and it never allows me.

According to the original post oh-so-long-ago, you can bet 0 to keep your name in for Ironman bragging rights
I have nothing to brag about...

let me tell you. They finally threw out a 50/50 … and I still got that wrong! ;)

Well I bet 10,000

And then later in the day checked my balance and it was 9k-something after the game prior. I just assumed that was the error.

I’m not making it up that my wager was accepted…

Weird.

How do you check your balance, by the way?

oh, by checking the game prior ...
Don't Look Now

but all of a sudden, Brandon Wood’s season slash line compares favorably to that of the Angels’ former 3B.

Chone Figgins: .183/.322/.239

Brandon Wood: .197/.222/.262

What in the world is wrong with Figgins?

Yea, that's brutal

He never started that slowly for us I don’t believe.
Hate to see Figgy sucking.

He did in 2007, remember?

Or thereabouts. There was also the broken fingers issue for him that year—but then he got turned around with the help of Coach Haynes and was AWESOME…so there’s still hope for him up there in Seattle.

IF they sign Nathan Haynes that is.

Or even if not, hehe. :-D

Was at the game, even stayed til the last out.

But that was just because I would’ve had to wait for the Throwbacks bus anyway. Lol. I had nosebleeds, but by the time I got to see 3Wood hit his HR, I was pretty much sitting behind homeplate. The stadium looked deserted by the end of the 7th.

Either way, besides the loss, I had a great time! Throwbacks for pre-game (even though I dumbly forgot to wear the “Panther” shit), took the bus to the game (which is a pretty cool deal, and extremely laid back), tried those AMAZING funnel cake fries (From Rudy’s Fries, right next to Ruby’s in CF), and pretty much got to see every perspective of the stadium moving around. Sucks to lose, but let’s turn the page! Back to midterms!

I wouldn't want to wear any type of animal sh*t either lol
(even though I dumbly forgot to wear the "Panther" shit)

Typo?

Colonel 5 IP, 3 ER <> not blame of game

Angels offense = botg

Angels defense=

saved Colonel’s ERA from going into the double digits.

Saundo should have had about 4 or 5 more runs.

Some great D behind him for the 3 inning ending DP with RISP kept it in reach.

I agree he looked like crap, but...

Abreu overthrowing the cutoff (Morales) on a throw to the plate cost Saundo an important out.

Brandon Wood

Here he comes!!!! l@@k out

Here he comes

Walkin’ down the street
Gettin’ funniest looks from
Everyone he meets!

So the offense takes every other day off?

AND, what is the Angels love-affair with getting bases loaded, no outs or 1 out, and just completely failing 9 times out of 10 (this trend has been for many seasons now). A true WS contender wouldn’t do that.

Maybe if Vlad was batting 4th we might cash in?

;)

Dino gets part of the blame, too.

If it was anyone else but Matsui, I’d agree with him. But sending MATSUI? Against Choo’s arm? WTF??

Yeah, I thought Ebel made a mistake on that one.
Also -- 1230 posts in the game thread, even on a suck game like that!

Of course, about 200 were the local equivalent of “The Wave”, but stil…
