Final Score at Angel Stadium: Angels 5, Indians 2... The Angels left a combined 26 men on base in Monday night's game in addition to grounding into 2 double plays, but managed to score 5 runs and ride the excellent pitching of Jered Weaver and the gutsy relief of Kevin Jepsen to a victory over the Cleveland Indians.

Rev, no mention of BWood going 3 for 4?
red floyd - April 26, 2010
added that.
thanks for the reminder
Rev Halofan - April 26, 2010
plus for anybody still whining & bitching about Wood replacing Figgy...
0 for 4, 3 K tonight & .179 AVG
Quad Fin Rider - April 26, 2010
I haven't heard much about that.
Maybe Wood replacing Izzy, but I doubt we’ll hear anyone singing that song tonight.
AlanFalcon - April 26, 2010
While it's true that Wood went 3 for 4 in last night's game,
his batting ave. is .158, and he has already made 4 errors, giving him a fielding percentage of .907. Izzy’s batting average, however, is .219 and he has made no error in fielding. If the Angels are hell-bent on making Wood their starting third baseman, then I hope like hell he pans out. But Izzy is already a clutch hitter with a great glove. I’m not sayin’, I’m just sayin’. But then that’s already been said.
agent_99 - April 27, 2010
I went with Chupa
But another great outing by the Dream Weaver—mister consistency in a season of some inconsistency
Raaddad - April 26, 2010
I only wish Weaver could have lasted longer.
So I went Abreu.
But serious respect for the Dream Weave.
AlanFalcon - April 26, 2010
They showed sats on Weave on the broadcast
He’s got like a 1.00 era first 80 pitches;
And I think it was something like 3.41 after that
Raaddad - April 27, 2010
*That would be "stats" not "sats" or SATs
Raaddad - April 27, 2010
David Huff is my Panther!
lightupthehalo29 - April 26, 2010
didn't Sizemore hit the ball Abreu caught?
i actually don’t recall
SCHalo - April 26, 2010
you sr are right
fixed that.
Rev Halofan - April 26, 2010
if it was Shieldsy with Hafner up
and bases loaded…. :) thank God
SCHalo - April 26, 2010
Panther = Wood
gotta show him some love to balance out all the hate posted here — I think he may just have finally turned that proverbial corner.
Quad Fin Rider - April 26, 2010
+1
DAD OF VLAD - April 26, 2010
His approach is so much better
He looks way confident—and hitting the ball to the left side
I was wrong earlier this season thinking the opposite field approach was working;
he definitely needs to keep looking for the first good pitch and pulling the ball like he did today
Raaddad - April 26, 2010
Still has a lot of work to do as you saw in that last at bat where we seemed to be reaching for balls down low and way out.
Never is going to be perfect but still needs work (was better though)
TheAngelsColts - April 26, 2010
I'm looking for Wood to keep improving at the plate and hoping his glove will follow
He hasn’t played anywhere near his potential. After his 2 rbi including the go ahead against ny he gave a great postgame interview (his first of the season as well if I’m not mistaken) and you could see his confidence isn’t shaken. And I was starting to doubt him…keep it up Woodsy!

Jepsen.
Absolutely saved the game for us, coming in with runners everywhere and only one out, and not allowing a single one to score. That, is PANTHER.
Clutch - April 26, 2010
Yepsen.
Voted for Jepsen, too.
red floyd - April 26, 2010
true dat.
NW angels Fan - April 26, 2010
Same here
Jepsen got my vote.
CLUTCH summarized it all.

I have a boner for Wood
Give him the Panther, he was rawwww-tastic tonight and he is stocking his way back to .200 and an All-Star invite.
“GIVE IT UP FOR YOUR STARTING THIRD-BASEMAN, Brandon WOOD.” – Joe Buck
DAD OF VLAD - April 26, 2010
Don't you mean I have Wood for a boner?
red floyd - April 26, 2010
NO but that sounds like a stupid joke that Joe Buck would say
DAD OF VLAD - April 26, 2010
This is embarrassing
What is “Panther”?
SportsChicken - April 26, 2010
A Panther is somebody so getting laid tonight
Quad Fin Rider - April 26, 2010
What does that have to do with the Angels
I can’t make the connection.
Pardon my ignorance.
SportsChicken - April 26, 2010

DAD OF VLAD - April 26, 2010
From WiHaloFan's comics last year
A meme was having Napoli saying “I’m sooo getting laid tonight!” after doing something awesome.
Clutch - April 26, 2010
Speaking of which,
This has probably been addressed already, but what happened to the comics this year?
Clutch - April 26, 2010
i thin WiHaloFan
1) ran out of good ideas
2) is busy
3) Got laid so much from them he is afraid of what happens if he makes more
DAD OF VLAD - April 26, 2010
*think
DAD OF VLAD - April 26, 2010
Haha, probably true.
Clutch - April 26, 2010
I think it's more of a case of where he's no longer snowed in
I hate to sound like such a selfish prick, but I was hoping for some bad weather up there to keep him behind the computer.
Quad Fin Rider - April 26, 2010
I suppose #2 is the right answer
but I like to believe it’s #3
Raaddad - April 26, 2010
Here's the breakdown as to why...
1) 98%
2) 2%
3) 0%
The world would be a much better place if you could get laid by doing comics. Sadly, that’s not the case.
At least for me.

Do you know Kenny Powers?
In his prime he was a panther every night on the mound.
PS. find and read the story on the home page, i think right side

here you go
Lore of the Panther
b0rd3rline - April 26, 2010
The Panther
represents the metaphysical ontological side of Halo Heaven.
Our Rev Halofan has shown us the light
and the power of the Panther.
Iand t was there tonight, brothers and sisters
Raaddad - April 26, 2010
^"and it"^
Raaddad - April 26, 2010
Maybe instead of "Moralesland"
We should do “Panther”, and make the Lore of the Panther mainstream. I’m sure Throwbacks would love it!
b0rd3rline - April 26, 2010
I was thinking Kowbelland or Kowbeland
TheAngelsColts - April 26, 2010
Nice.
also, because we will all be parked out in left field foul territory;
so AngelColts is right—it’s the wrong field and area for the Moralesland sign.
*Maybe Throwbacks can “commission” the giant letter posters in time.
Raaddad - April 26, 2010
Alright I read the story
Thanks to everyone.
I voted for Jepsen.
SportsChicken - April 26, 2010
It is the equivalent of Player of the game basically.
TheAngelsColts - April 26, 2010
No, it is so much more. It is PANTHER of the game!
AlanFalcon - April 26, 2010
Tough one tonight. Weaver, Wood, Abreu and Jepsen all made solid cases for themselves.
~MMP~ - April 26, 2010
Going with Jepsen though

Tip of the Hat
Wag of the Finger
Not bad though; the team hasn’t clicked yet, but still manages to win games.
Fan Since 1981 - April 26, 2010
The Wag of the Finger award
you should give that out on a regular basis here
(and the Tip of the Hat as well)

The best part of that show was Goldie Hawn
About 10 years ago I worked as a Business Manager at a firm in Century City that handled both Goldie Hawn & Chris Robinson. So I would often see Goldie early in the morning without any makeup on & then later in the day catch Kate Hudson all dolled up after a photo shoot — believe me there was never any comparison — even though Kate was much closer to my age, Goldie was always WAY, WAY hotter.
Quad Fin Rider - April 26, 2010
She was (and still probably is) the essence of hotness
Raaddad - April 26, 2010
Goldie is definitely still hot.
But did you see the Racquel Welch interview in the LAT a few weeks back? They had some current pix of her, and she is STILL smoking!
red floyd - April 27, 2010
No, didn't see it
Now Raquel Welch was my favorite as a kid—1,ooo,oo Years BC blew my mind as a kid, and she was unbelievable in that film with her little torn lioncloth deal, the long wind blown wild hair, the big expression-filled eyes, that perfect body, and the cool fight scene with the other “caveman” chick.
Raaddad - April 27, 2010
LATimes didn't seem to put the pic on the electonic version of the story. I'll try to find it later.

BOOOOMBAAA
Who else is glad Bobby’s hitting the long ball early? That was a big blast tonight.
LIGHT THAT BABY UP haha.
Neekohlai - April 26, 2010
I mentioned this in the game thread
But Fuentes looked angry out there tonight. I like that in a closer, you need that fire.

My last comment tonight (applause)
Caption for picture above:
Matsui: So you hit the first pitch now, my friend—are you listening to me Chupa?—and you crush it out there—yes—above the right centerfield wall. As they say around here—stop f…king around and hit the f…king thing!!
Bobby: Yes, my exalted Japanese amigo
Raaddad - April 27, 2010
I wish Matsui had taken his own advice while the Yankees were in town...
Or was he really playing for the Angels this past weekend?
44FAN - April 27, 2010
panther to weaver
unless a given hitter has a monster game, a pitcher who goes six-plus and gives up one or no runs always gets panther from me.
great to see b wood do so well in a game – let’s hope he can sustain it.
Kernel - April 27, 2010
3 for 4 agaisnt the Indians is fine...
but he still looks out of his element as he stands in – and his defense is terrible…but I agree that he is coming around
Halopauly - April 27, 2010
I detect a glimmer of a positive vibe in this message...
You have completely 180’d.
Downing Rules - April 27, 2010
I thought I would lie low and see about Wood for a few days...
but seriously, he is an automatic out, a below average defensive third baseman, and is not getting any better…this dismal start to the season is certainly not his fault, but he just is not a major leaguer…and while I’m at it, holy cow the Angels stink! Even when they win, they stink…they better go on a tear starting now or it’s going to be a 75 games won season…
