about 2 years ago: NEW YORK - APRIL 13: Hideki Matsui #55 of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim warms up in the outfield against the New York Yankees during the Yankees home opener at Yankee Stadium on April 13, 2010 in the Bronx borough of New York City. (Photo by Chris Trotman/Getty Images)
With groundballing lefty Joe Saunders on the mound, Hideki Matsui will get the start in Left Field for the Angels tonight against Justin Verlander and the Tigers. Torii Hunter will be the designated hitter and Reggie Willits will be in Centerfield. This will be Matsui's 2nd start in the field as an Angel. Juan Rivera is not in the starting lineup. Matsui's only other start in the field coincided with a start on the mound by righty sinkerballer Joel Pineiro on April 8 against the Twins. No balls were hit to him in that game.

Good to see Reggie in the lineup.
He’s been making things happen when he gets the chance.

Well, look at the numbers.
Small sample sizes yada yada yada….
But Willits has a better BA than Juan, and has 4 walks to Juan’s 0… despite having appeared in only 4 games to Juan’s 15.
So, yeah, I’m happy to see Reggie spelling Juan for a game.

Never thought I would see this sentence, right up there with
“We need Mathis’s bat in the lineup”

Run for your lives!!

I thought Juan might have broken a rib on that HBP
I only saw his first AB last night, but he looked damaged from it. Wouldn’t mind seeing him get a few days off.

Good for Rivera he has that extra little fatty cushion which probably saved him from a more
serious injury. It looked really bad when it happened. If it were me, I would still be laying there dead on home plate. Amazing how tough these guys are.

The only things Sicoscia cares about is selling TVS for Howards
he doesnt care about losing ball games. Hey Mike, some advice, if we get a save opportunity tonight, bring in Rodney!

And telling lame jokes and old stories in front of paying lunch crowds!

said on the pre agme interview that ...
The closer role was Fuentes’ to lose, and it hasn’t happened yet. Better watch Airplane before the game so you can brush up.
eyespy - April 22, 2010
SPOILER ALERT!
Tonight’s game ends with Fuentes blowing the save and the Angels losing.

So what's wrong with Torii?
There has to be something wrong with him – he just hasn’t looked like himself in a while. Can’t quite put my finger on it.
Zoe Necrosis - April 22, 2010
Enough minor injuries to affect his play but not enough to keep him out of the game.
44FAN - April 22, 2010
Saunders off to his usual start.

He usually owns April

Godzilla's arm was run on last night...
and it showed up weak. Missed Juan’s arm out there.
K3YEROUT - April 23, 2010
Rivera is a GIDP machine the past couple of ball-games.
