Pineiro's struggling with his command early

Fluid motion, not too much stress from the look of it, decent movement. He’s just inconsistently missing, low, high, inside, outside and he’s falling behind. I really haven’t seen much from his sinker thus far.

Haven’t seen the slider either, just curveball and change up I think.

I'm curious how things will work out for him

In the early 2000s he had a good fastball (around 93) and a sharp slider. He generated a decent number of Ks.

But I have never watched the “new” groundballing Pineiro. So I’m curious how good his “stuff” is.

Well he has good K's this spring

7 or 8 per 9 innings. His fastballs hovering around 88-91 now. But supposedly he has better control and a good cutter and sinker. Personally, I haven’t seen them yet. His fastball has good movement, and like his rainbow curve and wicked changeup. I’ve seen nothing of the pitches that made him good though.

The military uses simple letter and number designations for everything.

It was probably the first rifle in use under that system so it was M-1. It was replaced by the M-14 in Korea and the M-16 in Vietnam. Just a guess, but the M-2 (.50 cal) was probably the second type of heavy machine gun the military adopted and is still in use today.

If his fastball is at 95, 96 and combined with that changeup, he should be fine this year.

I'm worried about his location of those pitches
