Today was spent getting equipment and physicals. To paraphrase Robert Duvall, "I love the smell of glove leather in the morning, it smells like... like victory."

Spring training is awesome!
I’m heading out on March 23 and going to 7 games. The experience is great. Compared to Angel Stadium there is not a bad seat in the house. Good opportunity to meet players, all around good time.
I’ve been saving up vacation time for a year now. Can you tell I’m excited?

My wife and I went 8 years in a row until last year (and I went a few times as a kid to Palm Springs). Last year, we couldn’t afford it, and now we have a newborn who’s not ready to travel. So, it might be a while until we get to go again. The atmosphere is so laid back. It’s easier to get foul balls. I’ve gotten like 4. It’s also easy to get autographs if you’re into that. My only beef is that it’s gotten way pricier, like as much as a lot of decent regular season seats.
Some tips: make sure you buy tickets to a game in the middle of the month. At the beginning of the month, there are still a zillion minor leaguers they are taking a look at. And in the last two or three games, the starting 25 really phone it in, or don’t even show up. Also, watch out for “split squad” games, unless you want to get stuck watching a bunch of scrubs.
Finally, keep hydrated and sunscreened. I’ve seen a bunch of people (mostly elderly) pass out from heat stroke. Although it’s usually very nice weather in March in Arizona, you could get unlucky and be stuck at a really hot, dry game.
