I got to talking to the guy next to me about how the Clips really need a new owner. And he was like, “Yeah, but that new owner will probably just move them from LA.” So I pointed out to him, how Arte Moreno has essentially proven that you can establish a team in the Los Angeles market even if ANOTHER team has already established themselves.
I think when you look at the last two years, the slogan’s reflect this attempt to lasso the current Angel fans as tightly as possible and really cement the Halos has a team that is truly apart of the greater LA/Southern California area. That may be weird to say because hey, weren’t we always in So Cal? Correct, my friend but it seems Doyer fans have always outshined us until the 2000’s rolled around. Now, I think its safe to say the lines Dodger blue and Angel red have been firmly drawn for a whole new generation and from here it can only build from what has been established.
“Yes we can” has been used by others such as Cesar Chavez and Obama, so I think it’s not as unique. “The Halos are back” is my vote because it is so uniquely woven into the story of the Angels championship. They changed their uniforms to red, dropped the lame Disney wing, and it just so happened to be the season we not only finally got back to the playoffs, but went all the way. Since that slogan is associated with the ring, it’s got to be tops.
It predated Obama, and I don't remember Cesar Chavez using the slogan
(but then in 1979, I kept eating grapes). But I remember the surge that brought us to the brink for the first time and I was still young enough to believe that having a stadium chanting that slogan could bring us to victory (OK, I was 22, but it was a different time). Whenever Obama’s sycophants would chant it, I would drift back in time and not even hear whatever he was talking about. Hey, maybe that explains the victory over Hilary.
In 1979 I kept drinking wine. I have been drinking the nectar of the Gods since the summer of 1972.
The Halos Are Back! wins hands down because the Angels took all the marbles. Mike Scoiscia had this Big Steely that he obliterated the Yankees with an 8 run fifth inning (ALDS Game 4) and the Twins with a 10 run seventh inning (ALCS Game 5).
Put “big steely marble” into a search engine and you will find a store in Studio City that sells 1" diameter steelies for $2.50, 1 1/4" diameter steelies for $5.99, and 2" diameter steelies for $25.00. Sosh must of used a 2" diameter steelie against the Yanks and Twins! That was the best $25 ride in the park.
because in light of the Adenhart tragedy at the beginning of the season, I felt our fanbase did the best possible job we could have in supporting our team and rallying around them.
"World Champions"
My favorite slogan, came about right around October of 2002.
The rest are pretty ridiculous and I’ve never even given them a second thought.

SO I saw a Clippers game today AND...

Well said
And I hated the name change until I saw how much it pissed every Doyer fan off. Now I love it. Arte knows what he’s doing.

Wasn't 2002 "The Hunt for Red October"?

Rev Halofan - February 16, 2010
The pocket schedule had "The Halos are Back..."
since they ditched the Disney-fied angel wing logo and went back an A with a halo on it.

Now I'll disclaimer this by saying I wasn't even a fetus at the time
But my dad would argue that “yes we can” is the best ever. He still chants it from time to time during close ballgames.

Could be the 2010 team Slogan. And a start to a NEW “Tradition”.

One of the best things about 2009 ending was that I would be free of that lame slogan.

WORD
Fan Strong was stupid.
TrAdition is OK, but agree with Wytelightning above. Most of these slogans are fer the boids.

...so they'd "sell" in Baltimore, Toronto and St. Louis?

Fan Strong and Organization Strong.

I liked "The A-Team"
Because it pissed off the Dodger fans when I referred to the Doyers as “The B-Team”. Which they still are and always will be…forever and ever.

Team slogan for the A's
“Plenty of Parking”

Negative. Negative. It just impacted on the surface.
