where is the none of the above button?
HaloFanInDC - December 6, 2010
seriously
I read the poll and said this verbatim, “uhhhhhhhhh”
hobbit_86 - December 6, 2010
That would be my pick too.
Fred Fredrix - December 7, 2010
That's my realistic guess, too
but wouldn’t it be great if it were ALL of the above. I know, I know- just a dream.
LanaBanana - December 7, 2010
The only one who can "bounce back" is Kazmir. The others have never been successful.
I just noticed it said awful 2011… is that a typo or a prophecy?
Balls and Strikes - December 7, 2010
good read
fixed. Thanks!
Rev Halofan - December 7, 2010
Awful would be a bounce back for these 3 guys
linkbruin - December 7, 2010
Just listened to the interview.
Tony Reagins is a pathological liar. I will never believe anything this man says again.
He said, “Brandon Wood played good defensively.”
This is a man we cannot trust!
bc56274 - December 7, 2010
I thought wood was pretty solid defensively
Not GG material of course
Halos2011champs - December 7, 2010 via mobile
Maybe Tony is learning the Scott Boras way
…of spinning gold from crap. For example, he could say “Brandon Wood led the majors last year with most batting practice homeruns. He is a strong clubhouse presence by providing various refreshments like chips and sunflower seeds for his teammates and he goes around with a towel to wipe up excess water off the floor to keep any of the good players from slipping and injuring themselves… an asset to the club!”
Hoppity Hooper - December 7, 2010
Small sample size, I know, but
Brandon Wood actually was the best fielding third-baseman among third basemen who logged 400+ innings last season.
He apparently has really good range.
Slyintine - December 7, 2010
if im not mistaken ... last year
Tony said ..something exciting would happen during the winter meetings.. a.k.a. matsui!!!!!.. so im not ganna get my hopes up..

Hey Rev...
Now that the poll say “put 2010 behind them and have a great 2011” I feel Kendry Morales should be an option. If anyone needs to put something behind them its him and his season ending freak accident.
C.A._Rep_Los_ANGELS - December 7, 2010 via mobile
because he would get 100% of the vote
Rev Halofan - December 7, 2010
At least Kaz has a track record of not sucking at the major league level....
But all three sound like a tall order. Especially Mathis. Anyone who changes the definition of premium from “elite” to “suck” will not be having a good ’11.
It’s not the Mendoza line anymore. It’s the Mathis line.
Monkeyspanked - December 7, 2010
Exactly
I could picture Mario Mendoza saying “Everyday I check the paper to see who’s below the Mathis Line”.
Hoppity Hooper - December 7, 2010
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzing!
PieceOfAase - December 7, 2010
High points of the Reagins interview:
Reagins on BWood:
How do we square all those comments? Backup infielder, 3B, or SS?
On Callaspo, Mathis, Napoli:
Yeah, they’re all tendered contracts, but it’s musical chairs dependant upon what deals they can work out.
On Walden and Trout:
Speaks for itself. Walden’s in the pen barring unforeseen circumstances. They hear Trout’s footsteps.
Close to the vest on Beltre, Crawford, and Soriano.
Reagins was on a mission to mention Tyler Chatwood in the interview….he was not asked about him.
wumbug - December 7, 2010
none of the above
DAD OF VLAD - December 7, 2010
Brewster's Millions Remake FTW
red floyd - December 7, 2010
Hacksaw’s got a pretty low bar for good hitting. Mathis has “a history of being able to hit major league pitching” and Bourjos “hit well in cameo appearances”? OK.
Sam Miller OCR - December 7, 2010
"Santee, let me hear ya!"
yeswecan - December 7, 2010
Santee?
What is that? I don’t understand.
Santa?
wumbug - December 7, 2010
it is a VIC the BRICK reference
Rev Halofan - December 7, 2010
I learn something new every day.
Before this, I thought Santee was a colloquial form of Santa, a suburb of San Diego, or a river.
wumbug - December 8, 2010
It is a Hacksaw reference
If you really want to get technical it is Jim Rome doing a Hacksaw impression.
hauldog - December 8, 2010
Now I understand. Thanks!
wumbug - December 8, 2010
I know who those guys in the picture are!
The one on the left is Tom, from Myspace.
The one in the middle is former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleisher.
I seriously want that leather jacket Rev has on…I have one similar but it sure as hell doesn’t have plaid lining. Love it.
Mayheminthehood - December 7, 2010
No.
The one in the middle is obviously Brian Downing. Duh!
Match Day 5 - December 7, 2010
Or Alfredo Amezaga.
Mayheminthehood - December 7, 2010
Jeff Mathis?
red floyd - December 7, 2010
Or Jeff "Premium" Mathis
RallyMonkey5 - December 7, 2010 via mobile
GMTA
red floyd - December 7, 2010
I'm hoping the guy in the center has a ponytail --
That’d be so sweet.
Halotosis - December 7, 2010
Lol. Kinda like this...
maze88 - December 7, 2010
I voted for Kazmir
who was the best of the three poor choices.
angelslogic - December 7, 2010
I'm guessing
A member of the local media to the left and maybe a sabremetrics baseball guy in the middle.
BBFan1 - December 7, 2010
^...close...^
berry good
Rev Halofan - December 7, 2010
Am I dumb or is there no link to Halotalk?
snowhor - December 7, 2010
did you try refreshing?
autry's cowboys - December 7, 2010
Go
here
angelslogic - December 7, 2010
Sorry, try this one
here
angelslogic - December 7, 2010
Got it by Google. Then refreshed.
Is there a link in this post that I’m not seeing. I have to google lunchtime halotalk every week. I’m going to put it in my bookmarks.
snowhor - December 7, 2010
Nevermind. I see the player now.
Does that not show up until the show starts?
snowhor - December 7, 2010
right
angelslogic - December 7, 2010
I'm so excited! A LunchTime HaloTalk where there is actually going to be stuff to talk about!!!
Mayheminthehood - December 7, 2010
what
how terrible Mathis and Wood are isnt doing for you?
autry's cowboys - December 7, 2010
Beltre was a dog already, but considering how much we're going to overpay for him, he's freaking Cujo.
Mayheminthehood - December 7, 2010
I don't think ARoid can play SS anymore...
That hip and advancing age, etc
K3YEROUT - December 7, 2010
if you're going to compare Werth to Rivera
one must completely discount defense and baserunning
2pintsofbooze - December 7, 2010
And getting on base.
dmhead - December 7, 2010
Reggie! Reggie! Reggie!
Over Juancho any time, any place, anywhere.
angelslogic - December 7, 2010
I agree.
The professionals in he game are much smarter regarding baseball then I am. But… how do they explain Mathis again?
rmhalofan - December 7, 2010
Im just wondering why Tony Reagins would be late to the meetings. Tim Brown is reporting that the Angels were in position Monday, about the same time Greg Genske, Crawford’s agent, arrived. Maybe they had a meeting with Crawford in Texas?
ramo - December 7, 2010
Supposedly Reagins plane had mechanical difficulties during a layover in Dallas.
Persi W - December 7, 2010
I thought I read it was the Nats that made that huge offer for Cliff Lee.
Mayheminthehood - December 7, 2010
Napoli at 3B
autry's cowboys - December 7, 2010
That would be awesome if they sign Carl Crawford and Beltre.
ramo - December 7, 2010
WTF?
Would you prefer Tony Reagins showed up early and dressed like an elf?
New York Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman, dressed as an elf, rappels down the face of the 22-story Landmark Building in Stamford, Conn.
Halotosis - December 7, 2010
"Angels on my TL" may refer to specific types of headlights on the guy's Acura TL.
Mayheminthehood - December 7, 2010
No Napoli trades allowed!!!
angelslogic - December 7, 2010
Why not?
He finally got a full season of playing everyday and was less than impressive. We have 4 catchers on our roster. Time to let him go and give Conger a chance. His 15 HR a year aren’t worth all his K’s and low BA. Trading him for someone like Papelbon would be a brilliant move.
Persi W - December 7, 2010
Wow
mattwelch - December 7, 2010
no way Persi
Maybe you should put on the catching gear, dude…
Rev Halofan - December 7, 2010
Mike did not get a full season of play (3/4 maybe)
and he hit 25 home runs (not 15), a total which has increased not decreased over the previous year. With a true full year of ABs, 30+ homers is not out of the question. How many catchers in the majors can achieve that?
angelslogic - December 7, 2010
26 actually
Regardless of numbers, Mike Napoli routinely wins baseball games.
Commander_Nate - December 7, 2010
Though never in clutch situations or when there are ducks on the pond
but that’s another story….
Raaddad - December 7, 2010
true
those 2 bombs he hit off Beckett in the playoffs in Boston weren’t very “clutch”
2pintsofbooze - December 8, 2010
and then there's that. . .
Raaddad - December 8, 2010
Only Matsui hit more HRs with runners on than Naps.
snowhor - December 8, 2010
no comprende
2pintsofbooze - December 7, 2010

ramo - December 7, 2010
Maybe Scioscia would have to admit failure
If the Angels were to release him.
angelslogic - December 7, 2010
OMG
I thought of Ken McMullen just now also.
angelslogic - December 7, 2010
Does the poll include AAA?
If so, I’ll have to go with B. Wood.
Raaddad - December 7, 2010
LLOL
