The Angels have announced a preliminary 2010 stadium giveaway schedule. Here is my A PRIORI review of the items and events:
April 9: ANGELS BONNET BEANIE - This will be some lame thing that if the girl in your life really wants it, give it to her and get a new girl.
April 12: FLEECE BLANKET - I can almost guarantee by some psychic kinesis that there will be a mid-April heat wave as inevitably coincides with Angels blanket giveaways.
April 26: WALL CALENDAR - the one they gave out last season ends with April 2011, so this is perfect.
May 7: ANGELS TROLL - Maybe this explains keeping Jeff Mathis on the roster.
May 8: MOTHERS DAY SUN HAT - Go ahead and rub in my mother's recurring skin cancer.
May 10: ANGELS WRESTLING MASK - How many kids will put theirs on and body slam dear old dad?

May 11: ANGELS REPLICA HAT - Probably the "gold ring" edition.
May 24: MORALES BOBBLEHEAD - An improvement over his 2010 BobbleAnkle doll.
May 25: SIX PACK COOLER - Call it a hunch that Cupie is first in line for this game.
June 7: ANGELS NEWSBOY HAT - Uhhh... They're called "bloggers" now. I guess Arte likes Matt Drudge.
June 11: POST GAME CONCERT - You lost me at the cast of GLEE singing the National Anthem before the All Star Game.
June 28: TBD ("to be determined") BOBBLEHEAD - Take the unders on this being Alberto Callaspo.
July 7: FLASHBACK HAT - Pray it is not a "Winged Logo" revival.
July 9: POST GAME CONCERT - Perhaps Paul, Ringo and two Ouija boards make an appearance.
July 19: ANGELS HALL OF FAME SHIRT - Is this the year Robb Quinlan's jersey is retired?
August 2: ANGELS BANNER - To hang in the living room until your wife comes home.
August 4: ANGELS FLAT BILLED PLAID HAT - Because the back of your closet shelf can never have too many crushed old Angels giveaway hats you will never wear in public if your life depended on it.
August 6: POST GAME CONCERT - That cantina band from Star Wars is looking for a gig close to the desert.
August 16: 50TH ANNIVERSARY MUG - on Madonna's 52nd birthday!
August 18: GNOME BOBBLEHEAD - Did Arte shave last year's beard yet?
August 20: POST GAME CONCERT - I'm going to take this opportunity to brag that I saw Social Distortion play a backyard party in the OC in 1979 and it would be hard to top that performance even if this performer plays in tune.
August 23: RALLY MONKEY CHIA PET - We can mock our own franchise better than fans of other teams.
As always, a few more will be added. Every Friday will be one of those four-minute firework shows that never follows the appointed music and every Sunday will be the family thingy for kids and their bored parents.

I'll mark my calendar for the fleece blanket and six pack cooler.
Flashback hat sounds promising, but I don’t trust any promo that involves a hat— too much stupid shit my dog wouldn’t even wear.
clover_black - December 2, 2010
wrestling mask?
good idea
I was surprised they didn’t do a Kendry bobblehead last season. perhaps the promotions department had a premonition about his injury and knew a bobblehead would only pour salt in the wound. erie

Angels Troll
Does that mean Arte hits up Over the Monster and starts messin with the Sux fans?
Definitely gonna hit up the bobblehead nights. Gonna assume that TBD may be Crawford if we sign him, if not probably Weaver

It took months to ACTUALLY get the stupid garden gnomes.
Once I got mine, it went straight outside in the garden (the back garden behind the fence mind you, I did not want it stolen) as it is so ugly/creepy/weird looking that if you looked at it out of the corner of your eye, it looked like it was trying to steal your soul or something. Glad I have it, but not on a shelf indoors.

Mine is on the mantle. People think it is a short stubby Santa
LanaBanana - December 3, 2010
Harumph
I NEVER received my garden gnome. Called dozens of times. Was always put through to someone’s voicemail. Nobody has ever called me back. Really soured me on the organization’s professed fan-friendliness to not even receive so much as a “sorry about that.”

I had the same experience with them about the damn gnome
Still calling them, still waiting for it….

I was actually in the
hospital for this giveaway. Surprisingly enough, I called my SSH rep and explained that it was an emergency admit, and that I REALLY wanted a gnome. I thought I was SOL, but she called me in November to come and get the ONLY one she could find, and I went and picked it up.
I couldn’t wait to see it, so I opened it while I waited at a traffic light. The car next to me rolled down his window and asked me if I would sell him, and I told him I had just received him from my SSH rep. He was disappointed that I would not, even when he offered me $30 for the gnome.
My gnome graces my bookshelf full of Angels crap from the last few years..

Yes
truly “comforting” to hear that.

Damn Rev, hate to one up you but ...........
August 20: POST GAME CONCERT – I’m going to take this opportunity to brag that I saw Social Distortion play a backyard party in the OC in 1979 and it would be hard to top that performance even if this performer plays in tune.
I’ve probably played on the same bill as Social Distortion and hung out with them hundreds of times from the late 70s to about 85 or 86 when I dropped out of the music scene. My girlfriend at the time and Dennis’ girlfriend were best friends. The best times were at the CASH club, an afterhours venue where you paid some money at the door and the trash cans full of cheap beer and cheap small bottles of wine were free. The basement was a black light room set up which I would take full advantage of and wear a white leather bikers jacket that would glow and mess with Dennis and Mike as I would know exactly what they had recreationally ingested that evening.

You and Rev are making me jealous
I’m reading Greg Graffin’s new book right now and in it he talks about playing Bad Religion’s first show at some obsure warehouse in Santa Ana with Social Distorition back in 1980. Also just read a part yesterday where one of their shows with Pennywise and NOFX turned into a riot and got broken up before BR even took the stage in Dec. 1990 and they ended up getting blamed for it on CNN. I wouldn’t plague the Earth until 5 years after the first incident and was only 5 years old when the second occurred.
Sounds like those would have been fun times.

I lived and had my rehearsal studio in Santa Ana fequented by members of TSOL,
Social D, Speed Queens, Strong Silent Types, 411s (not the later famous one) used to also use a studio in Los Alamitos that was used by WASP, they used to always have the time block right before ours. Ask Tony from the Adolescents about the time they played at a place in Los Alamitos or whatever city that is called the Woodsound, he was about 15 or 16 and a bouncer decided to pick a fight with a patron and then Tony, who was just a little kid then, needless to say there was not a single pool cue left that was not broken and every bouncer was lights out and bleeding by the time the cops arrived. My drummer at the time became the original drummer for Hole after she moved.

If you guys had any idea how fast these things find their way to your local thrift store...

Hooray more free Angels stuff!
Now, if I can only push the stuff from previous season aside or back, I’ll have room for THIS season’s giveaways
Angelsfan015 - December 3, 2010
So far I like most of it.
I’m still having fun going through the box with all the give-a-ways from this year that I bought.
I have my gnome in the front window – it will be fun to see what some of this stuff looks like.
I’m with Rev on the calendar – they one they gave out this past season was my favorite so far. I’m thinking it’s going to be full of the past 50 season’s pictures.
