It is Veteran's Day today and we should all take a moment to realize that the simplest freedoms we take for granted exist because many men and women we will never know made the ultimate sacrifices on our behalf.
Thanks on behalf of everyone here at Halos Heaven to all of our veterans. Without you there would be victims of anarchy running in the streets instead of walking around our malls wearing teeshirts advocating anarchy.

In related news, yesterday was the Marine Corps' 235th Anniversary
Nov. 10th, 1775 – Older than the United States itself!
Happy belated, fellow Devil Dogs!
Commander_Nate - November 11, 2010
I haven't said ooorah in 3 years and I won't start now.
But yes, Happy Birthday Devils, and you’re welcome Rev. Such a nice sentiment…..I think.

Happy B-day, Jarheads
From your Army big brothers (we’re five months older)
Quad Fin Rider - November 11, 2010 via mobile
Thanks!
FYI, they gave you those extra five months because even back then they knew you’d take longer to get ready.

HA! Love these rivalries.

I was the youngest Marine
at our Marine Corps Ball my second year in. That was kind of a cool experience.
WiHaloFan - November 11, 2010
HAHA, me too. I was lucky enough to meet our base General.
Halowood - November 11, 2010
I had a MGySgt...
Who had been in off and on between active and reserve for over 40 years. No joke. He used to tell us stories while we were standing around in formation about bootcamp in 1963 (I think that was the year he joined) and flying around in helo’s over Vietnam. They kept trying to force him to retire and he managed to hold them off until 2007.
Needless to say he was the oldest Marine by about a decade at my first 3-4 Marine Corps Balls and pretty much everywhere else he went too.

ooorah!

Rev...
…really, thanks for this post. I was never in the military, but I know many that joined the armed forces. I have a great deal of respect for those that served, especially those that volunteered.
My greatest respect is for those that lost their lives while in uniform. There’s nothing I have done in life that approximates THAT sacrifice. Whenever I think about it, I am just humbled beyond words. Acknowledging that it is completely underwhelming, thank you.

I don't have the words, but Lincoln did...
sothball - November 11, 2010
Thanks for publishing THAT here.

Thanks to our veterans
I don’t know of many jobs that have such a wide array of possible outcomes. You could spend four years in the armed services during relatively peaceful times, or you could find yourself flung into the desert where you’re not sure who is terrified of you and who wants to kill you and everyone in between. Seriously. I don’t know if my job will be “busy” on a given day. These men and women don’t know what their lives will be like after six months.
So yeah, thanks to our veterans. You are willing to serve our country come what may.

Many thanks to all of our veterans
I know we can never thank you enough for what you have sacrificed. Still, I’m glad we have the opportunity to give you our thanks.

Story reminds me of my sig on other fora:
The only reason we retain the rights we have is because people JUST LIKE US died to preserve them.
red floyd - November 11, 2010
I like how this fanpost was made during the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

Thanks Veterans...
May God bless you and may our country collectively remember how much has been sacrificed for the freedom we often take for granted.
grahams98 - November 11, 2010
Thank you veterans!
Also, I discovered at my neighborhood (West LA) Wahoo’s and assume it’s a chain-wide thing—if you present your active military ID or veteran’s ID today, you get a free #1 combo.

To the true heros,
Thank you for being brave enough to put yourself where many of the rest of us aren’t. I remind my children often of the respect that is owed to all of you for your selfless service.
rmhalofan - November 11, 2010
Thank you to all persons in the armed services.
My hat is off to you all.
God bless and stay safe out there.
RexTookMyStash - November 11, 2010
Oh and for all Vets, Chili's is offering a free meal today with proof of military service.
Yeah, I’ll be there.
