I thought they got lucky with their wildcard matchup and was/is an advantage. But when they were down yesterday and showed little life, I was thinking “Yes! (network)”
Only to have the baseball gods shove moaky socks down my throat.
Well, I’m going to go read some old Wood press clippings to feel better about baseball.

I distinctly remember putting a big wad of TP in the exhaust pipe of their mom’s car one night, only to imagine the car blowing up the next day, so I removed it all before we left.
I know, right. I was 10 years old though, and having a family of 3 blow up due to something I did was not something I wanted to carry around with me for the rest of my life.
although if I had known he’d become a rival of my favorite team I may have acted differently.

RexTookMyStash - October 7, 2010

Pretty sad, huh?
cath619 - October 7, 2010

cath619 - October 7, 2010
HAHAHA!!!
opiejeanne - October 7, 2010
So early?
I am dealing with the local tv gods who have deigned that I will not be able to watch these games without paying extra for them. Poop.
I will check MLB to see if they’re available.
opiejeanne - October 7, 2010
What's up with these wacky ass start times?
I feel bad for the Ranger fans who are missing these games b/c of work.
Eh, not really.
RexTookMyStash - October 7, 2010
They should play this song when Halladay starts next:

RexTookMyStash - October 7, 2010
Is it just me?
Or does Joe Maddon in that pic look exactly like Malcolm McDowell?
Stirrups - October 7, 2010
OMC! HE'S AN OLD GUY!!!
opiejeanne - October 7, 2010
Well, that is true.
He ain’t this guy any longer.
Stirrups - October 7, 2010
That's the version of him that comes to mind first for me.
I saw him in something recently and was amazed that he hadn’t been preserved at that earlier age. He’s probably older than I am.
opiejeanne - October 7, 2010
He sure does!
LanaBanana - October 7, 2010
The Rays have an OF of Crawford, Upton and Jennings today
I wonder if anything hit into the outfield by the Rangers becomes a hit today
~MMP~ - October 7, 2010
id rather watch the Laker Game
Angels_48 - October 7, 2010
The Rangers should lock up the series today...
…and I’m still grumpy over the NY win.
I thought they got lucky with their wildcard matchup and was/is an advantage. But when they were down yesterday and showed little life, I was thinking “Yes! (network)”

Well, I’m going to go read some old Wood press clippings to feel better about baseball.
RedFog - October 7, 2010
I actually think the Rays have a decent shot to win today. Wilson
~MMP~ - October 7, 2010
's control isn't the greatest and the Rays draw a lot of walks. Plus, Wilson isn't very good at holding runners.
~MMP~ - October 7, 2010
CJ is an OC kid yah?
Wally's World - October 7, 2010
Yep, Newport

Your shortsightedness has cost us all dearly, 2pints
Did you two at least lurk outside his sister’s window for a while?
Commander_Nate - October 7, 2010
it was a 2 story
we let the TP fly, then bolted. had to get back to my buddy’s house before his parents realized we were gone.
2pintsofbooze - October 7, 2010
I'm not even gonna make a pick on this game
I got all three wrong yesterday so I give up.

2pintsofbooze - October 7, 2010
And it begins
~MMP~ - October 7, 2010
WOW, Shields' numbers are almost Kazmir'esque
K3YEROUT - October 7, 2010
Risky choice.
Maddon will get ripped a new one if he sucks and they lose.
Wally's World - October 7, 2010
Understood...though Price was a "no-brainer" and look where that got Maddon... :((
K3YEROUT - October 7, 2010
imagine how pissed we'd be if sosh started Kaz in gm 2.
Wally's World - October 7, 2010
Ouch...
That said, I like my chances with Shields over Kaz any day of the week!

Just saw a post on FB from Jeff Biggs. “The Drive” raido show will not return until next season.
I’m sure we’ll still have to listen to Ridin Dirty though. And so the fans get screwed again. This sucks.
angelsfan7 - October 7, 2010
Yeah, this doesn't bother me at all.
clover_black - October 7, 2010
you must not listen to sports radio then.
angelsfan7 - October 7, 2010
This doesn't make me happy
I wonder what Biggs will do until next year?
LanaBanana - October 7, 2010

Ridin Dirty is all you listen to?
LanaBanana - October 7, 2010
Yeah, no.
clover_black - October 7, 2010
I'm sure that show will remain....

angelsfan7 - October 7, 2010

That's how it's seemed to me, too
I can’t listen and I’m disappointed with AM830 for having the show

There's still Rex Hudler on Saturday afternoons.
44FAN - October 7, 2010

:|
clover_black - October 7, 2010
probably like it did to get bounced out of the ALCS last year.
angelsfan7 - October 7, 2010
Wait, Treanor's job is to get on base? I never realized that that was the goal.

44FAN - October 7, 2010

~MMP~ - October 7, 2010
since he isn't a closer
he is allowed to. his arm and stamina have changed since he is out of that role of only being a guy who can pitch with a small lead in the 9th inning of a baseball game.

ive seen home plate umpires call that a swing
on check swings half that far.
then the 1st base ump blows it too.
combine that with the bullshit call on pena yesterday
i still want a world series to be won by a bad call.
it’s the only way to get something changed.
Quinlan's Goofy Swing - October 7, 2010

Quinlan's Goofy Swing - October 7, 2010
Nolan Ryan and Bud Selig are bosom buddies, they make thing happen.
44FAN - October 7, 2010
ive watched about 100 rangers games this year
and it’s amazing how many bad calls went their way, their pitching staff as a collective, were given maddux sized strike zones all year.
something fishy
Quinlan's Goofy Swing - October 7, 2010
I guess they got all our "luck" this season.
angelsfan7 - October 7, 2010
maybe
usually that stuff evens out, but clearly some teams have extra help – surprised to see the rangers fall into that category.

Wally's World - October 7, 2010

Quinlan's Goofy Swing - October 7, 2010

Yesterday their RISP was Angel-like.
They need to point some fingers at themselves as well.
RexTookMyStash - October 7, 2010
hitting all those fly blls right to the outfielders is so Angel like as well.
44FAN - October 7, 2010

Quinlan's Goofy Swing - October 7, 2010
They were having withdrawls
~MMP~ - October 7, 2010
Yikes, the Rays have terrible batting averages.
How’d they win so many games?
RexTookMyStash - October 7, 2010
Pitching.
Commander_Nate - October 7, 2010
Pitching and defense. Also, while they don't have high batting averages, they walk a lot and run a lot.
So they generally manage to make the hits they do get count.
~MMP~ - October 7, 2010
Makes sense. Thanks M and Nate.
RexTookMyStash - October 7, 2010
pitching and defense?
sounds like a recipe for success. we should inform Sosh of this brand of baseball.
2pintsofbooze - October 7, 2010
Fucking Qualls had a 7.32 ERA, 7 BLSV's, and a 1.80 WHIP, in 59 IP's this season.
Why’d you put him in a high leverage situation Sosh?
RexTookMyStash - October 7, 2010
What are the matchups for Games 3 and 4?
Commander_Nate - October 7, 2010
Garza/Lewis and I think it's Davis/Hunter in Game 4
~MMP~ - October 7, 2010

unbelievable
angelsfan7 - October 7, 2010
Good job Rays
~MMP~ - October 7, 2010
Nice play Bartlett
~MMP~ - October 7, 2010
I'm not a fan of S-Rod's haircut
~MMP~ - October 7, 2010
Crawford's Playoff BA: .125, Upton's .000.
Let’s give him a 4 year, $354 million dollar contract.
RexTookMyStash - October 7, 2010
I haven't been too impressed with Crawford from what I have seen this series.
Werth, Jason went 0-4 in last game as well..
44FAN - October 7, 2010
I think all major league players should be given contracts based on how good they can hit
through 4 ABs.
clover_black - October 7, 2010
If you just judge Wood based on the 4 times he's hit HRs, he's batting 1.000 and hitting a homerun every time.
Sign him to a 6 year/100 million dollar contract
~MMP~ - October 7, 2010
Sosh does this at well.
Mathis hit a blast, first game of the season. And sosh tries to tell us he is a DEFENSIVE catcher.
The power bat tells us a different story.
clover_black - October 7, 2010
exactly, small sample sizes are my favorite sadistic
44FAN - October 7, 2010
It's called being clutch in the playoffs, and being a champion.
What good are 125 RBI’s if he’s going to flop next october?
RexTookMyStash - October 7, 2010
Or you can just sit and watch post season baseball
since your team is loaded with a bunch of nobodies who cant hit
A-rod was slammed for not producing in october… then. he goes ape shit and now he’s the best thing since sliced bread.
Its just plain stupidity to think that a player of carwfords caliber will continue to do shitty in the post season.
clover_black - October 7, 2010
Well I am pretty stupid, so it make sense.
RexTookMyStash - October 7, 2010
His season numbers and production are promising at least:
.307 BA, 19 HR, 90 RBI’s, .851 OPS.
RexTookMyStash - October 7, 2010
I'll take anybody that can hit...
at this point I am no longer going to be picky
44FAN - October 7, 2010
I hear yah.
RexTookMyStash - October 7, 2010
Crawford already playing like an Angel..
He’s gonna fit in great…:(

And now Girardi is in favor of instant replay after that call last night

~MMP~ - October 7, 2010
This is a good thing since the Yankees speak for all of baseball.
RexTookMyStash - October 7, 2010
I hope the Rays fans apologize to all their fans that showed up after the game.
It should only take about a half hour.
RexTookMyStash - October 7, 2010
A bunch left, so it should probably only take 10
~MMP~ - October 7, 2010
Even better
RexTookMyStash - October 7, 2010
I don't think there will ever be any fans showing up again in Tropicana after these last tow games.
44FAN - October 7, 2010
well that stinks
