Matt Cain is in the same boat as Cliff Lee: set to pitch in a LCS Game 7 that was not to be. In the Sixties Sandy Koufax and Juan Marichal only started against each other three times. The precedent of not starting ace verses ace is there. By starting Tim Lincecum in WS Game 2 his next start would be in WS Game 6 and he would miss out pitching in Arlington’s homer heaven. A Texas and San Francisco World Series is a nightmare for Fox Sports (no, not their worst nightmare—that would be a Seattle and Pittsburgh World Series).
Hate Barroids who they honored before the first home play-off game. Hate ‘51 Giants who cheated with elaborate binoculars scheme so they knew which pitch was being thrown. It’s okay to to hate the NoCal haters.
I don't know which pitcher is better, Lincecum or Cain.
But Bochy should start the guy he thinks can deliver a W against the Rangers. Psychology is a big part of the game and winning the first game in a best-of-seven series provides a huge mental boost.
but I’ve been a pretty avid follower of Frisco since I was a kid (spurred on by my ever growing hatred of all things Dodger blue). Frankly, the idea of starting anyone except Lincecum is idiotic. Remember last year when we wen to KC to face Greinke and people wanted to start Palmer instead of Lackey since “we were going to lose anyways?” Remember how Rev made that video rant that included “What the fuck is wrong with you people? When we face another team’s ace, I want my ace on the mound.”? It’s the exact same logic here. Outside of a bizarre and rough August, Lincecum has been dominant (not to say Cain hasn’t) and shown baseball that the 2 Cy Young awards weren’t flukes. Besides, with how fluky a best of 7 series can be, the Lee/Lincecum match-up could end up being a 10-9 slugfest. The only predictable element is that Timmy has proven his post season worth (to a degree) and would best match up against Lee.
Starting Cain would be a waste, save him for game 2.
Yes, only because right now, Matt Cain is their ace.
Save Timmy for game 2.

I hate both teams, but I’d rather see the Rangers win and Vlad get a ring than the Giants.

It's one of those world series
where you just don’t watch and you don’t root for anybody and in the end you just hope both teams kill each other.

it’s even worse than st. louis and the cws.
