Halos Heaven

Congratulations Texas Rangers

Wow.

In 2001, the Rangers signed Alex Rodriguez to a ten year contract to get them to the World Series.

In A-Rod's final At Bat in the tenth season of that contract, he did just that, striking out for the final out of the 9th inning of the 4th Yankee loss of the ALCS against his old team.

Congratulations to the Rangers and all the Rangers fans, your long world series wait is over.

American League President Jackie Autry awarded Rangers owner Nolan Ryan with the League Championship trophy citing the memory of Gene Autry and Ryan's tenure on Gene's California Angels in her presentation.

Outfielder Josh Hamilton thanked Jesus Christ and God when Mrs. Autry presented him with the ALCS MVP. Hamilton said the Rangers don't know how to fail.

We'll see about that next week.

ugh it feels dirty to be happy the rangers won…. i guess I’m happy Vladdy is getting another chance to win it… gross that mrs autry is giving nolan ryan the trophy as well

VLADDY VLADDY VLADDY VLADDY !!!!!
I hate the fact Vlad could win a WS not on the Angels
as Angels fans

we should all be proud of our Front Office this past off-season. Well Done!

Signing Vlad just keeps him out of the WS. It doesn't take us there.

But if the Rangers win I wonder if Vlad wears his cap as a Ranger?

I am going to pose this question:

Of all the Top 20 Greatest Angels on our list, how many have gone on to other teams to win a World Series ring who weren’t on the 2002 team?

I really doubt it. 7 really good years in Montreal, 5 really good years in Anaheim and then 1 injured one plus an AL MVP award.
It isn't Guerrero's decision which cap he wears

MLB makes that decision, once the player is voted in. Thank the previous ownership of the Devil Rays, which made a contract deal with Wade Boggs, with Boggs promising to choose the Devil Rays’ cap for his bust if he made it to the HOF.

He was a monster in Montreal, but he arguably had his greatest impact upon a team’s success when he was an Angel. Whether MLB sees it that way or not is something we’ll all have to wait and find out.

If this is the case,

Why does Nolan Ryan wear a Rangers hat? It doesn’t seem to me that MLB would pick the Rangers. Didn’t he throw 4 of his 7 no-hitters and break Koufax’s record for strike outs in a single season with the Halos?

Ryan's induction predates the rule

As I recall, the news of Boggs’ deal with the Devil Rays didn’t come out at first. Boggs was still playing when Ryan was voted in to the HOF.

Thus, Ryan made the selection himself. Maybe he was still smarting from Buzzie Bavasi’s comment, maybe it was his pride at being a Texan. Who knows?

This makes it hard,

maybe impossible, for me to still like Nolan Ryan at all.

The Hall makes that decision, not MLB.
You're correct

That was me being lazy. The point was that the player doesn’t get to select the cap, that job is done by others.

As do I. It actually brings a tear to my eye...
Great news!

I feel so good as for this victory! It’s so great! all of us expected it but still it occured to be so sudden and so good. Congratulations, Rangers! You really did your best! Great job! And of course congratulations to fans who really support the team. Thank you!

congrats Rangers

on two other notes:

Where was Mrs. Autry during the All-Star Game? Sad she wasn’t pointed out, being the honorary AL Comish and the Wife of the First Angels owner…

what happened to the the pre season pics?

She was at the presser for the announcement of the starting pitcher

before the ASG I think

Congrats Texas

I’m with you: representing our under-rated division, and carrying the beloved ex-Halos, Guerrero, Molina and Oliver. (and Nolan Ryan, for that matter)
And PS: NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE JOB absolutely destroying the Yanks!!!!!!!!
Jeez, even Vladdy got off tonight!

forgot my man

Darren O’Day

Vlad who? Let's resign Matsui.
Ugh, c'mon San Fran or Philly!!!!!

Beat these guys for us!!!

philly. I hate the Gi'nts and I hate Texas.
Why do you hate the Giants?

The enemy (SF) of my enemy (LAD) is my friend. Haha.

Long story, everyone else here has heard it until they're sick of it.

I grew up a Dodgers fan. I was 7 when they came to LA and I learned to hate the Giants. Then I became an Angels fan and kind of outgrew my childhood hatred of SF until I lived the SF bay area for 9 years, and learned to truly hate that team, their management and their fans. Moved back to SoCal in 2001.

And then there’s 2002. If I hadn’t lived in the area for 9 years I would have despised the Giants just for the way they behaved on the field, not to mention that their fans made the Yankees fans look polite that year.

I'm with opiejeanne. F the Rangers and Giants.

My Giant hatred comes from my dual Angel/Dodger fandom.

So yeah, go Phillies.

I hate the Phillies also, especially for beating the Dodgers the last 2 seasons but I see them as the lesser of 3 evils.

Even if I didn't like the Dodgers, after living up north for 9 years I'd still hate the Giants.

We ended up going to a lot of A’s games while we lived there, primarily to see the Angels when they were in town but also because it was baseball and the A’s had some young players who were fun to watch back then. Giants fans would act like they were slumming, and clueless Raiders fans would show up wearing their gear and wonder why A’s fans despise Al Davis. Riding BART to the games was fun and cheap, and we never had to pay for parking or worry about getting out of the stupid parking lot afterwards.

wow

I had a feeling this might happen year after f***ing year the angels compete to get to the ws and they idiot make it on they’re first clinch in fu**ing years! F***ing 90 win team losers! Our 2009 angels were way better than this stupid team… I kno I’m probably ganna get heat for this post but F the rangers! I gatta vent!! I’ve been a fan since 04 .. I didn’t get to enjoy 02’ other than that damn dvd I’ve watched a 100 times.. I watch 162 games win or lose .. T.v. Or in person..Good for vlad my butt… U should have gone there w. Us! Sorry I’m just frustrated

remember Vlad wanted to stay an Angel.
yeah i kno man

But I still don’t care I can’t b happy with him when he’s on that team.. Almost Any other team man …

That's some revisionist history
remember Vlad wanted to stay an Angel.

He was offered a contract to stay with the Angels, for one year to DH. His agent said Vlad didn’t want to DH, he wanted to be considered a complete player and be the RF. The Angels and Vlad parted ways, and the Angels signed Matsui. No team can afford to wait forever.

What happened next is that no team made offers to Vlad in the weeks that followed. Finally, the Rangers offered one year plus an option, and no guarantee of playing RF (they already had the OF set). Vlad took the offer, and we know what came next. In 2010, he started 18 games in the OF and 129 as DH—about what he would have done for Scioscia.

Be sad that he’s no longer with the team, or be happy for his success, but don’t propagate nonsense that he was shunned by the Angel front office. If he had taken the offer, he could just as easily been in an Angel uniform in 2010.

BTW, revisit the comments about Vlad one year ago and you won’t find support for a generous offer to bring him back. The majority opinion was that he was done, with his legs shot and his wild swinging doing him in. If you review his season with the Rangers, he was on fire for the first three months, then slumped horribly for July and August, reviving in September. Aside from last night, he has been MIA for the playoffs. It isn’t as if he time-traveled to 2004.

Guess what George

Vlad played a handful of games in the outfield this season, apparently something Sosh wouldn’t budge on. That would have been the sticking point. And if as an organization you are going to let a certain future Hall of Famer walk because you won’t let him play a few games in the outfield (See the Rangers this season), than you better have a better replacement player.

IF Matsui had outplayed Vlad to the point that nobody missed him, then nobody would care about Vlad being gone because we would have something to look forward to next season at DH. Terrible Decision.

Finally, how many of our Top 20 Greatest Angels have made it to the W.S. on another team the following season they were allowed to leave?

What difference does it make if they got to W.S. with other teams?

Obviously none of the teams we had prior to 2002 were good enough to win it all.

Would you rather these players never get to live their dreams & experience something they have been working for their whole lives?

So many things you don't understand
Vlad played a handful of games in the outfield this season, apparently something Sosh wouldn’t budge on. That would have been the sticking point. And if as an organization you are going to let a certain future Hall of Famer walk because you won’t let him play a few games in the outfield (See the Rangers this season), than you better have a better replacement player.

° Vlad played 99 games in RF in 2008, and just 2 in 2009. He was recovering from his knee surgery in the offseason prior to 2009 season and the Angels had signed Abreu. Those were the reasons for less playing time from Vlad, except for the one you seem so reluctant to face: The severe erosion of his defensive skills.

Vlad always had a cannon for an arm, but in the 2008 season in the OF for the Angels he was throwing wildly to bases, missing cutoff men and misplaying fly balls. His RF/9 was well below league average (2.02 vs 2.31). Runners and 3rd base coaches began to challenge his arm, because of the decreasing likelihood the throw would be on-line. Again, this is something each of us witnessed and commented upon during that time. There is no point in pretending it wasn’t the case.

° The statement that “Sosh wouldn’t budge on” Guerrero making starts in the OF is simply your conjecture. Matsui, bad knees and all, made one more start in the OF for the Angels than Vlad did for the Rangers. Why would you assume it would be any different if Vlad was still an Angel in 2010, aside from your emotional, post hoc style of reasoning?

° Finally, if Vlad was still a “complete player”, why was the only offer he received to play from the Rangers? A player with Vlad’s bona fides figures to be helpful to some other team—the Royals, the Pirates? Could it have been the prevailing belief in baseball was that he was done?

IF Matsui had outplayed Vlad to the point that nobody missed him, then nobody would care about Vlad being gone because we would have something to look forward to next season at DH. Terrible Decision.

° Matusi wasn’t a terrible decision. He was a one-year deal (remember, Vlad turned down a one-year deal), he was the reigning MVP of the World Series and he was a left-handed power bat on a team that lacked one (aside from Morales). Matsui had a respectable season for the Angels, especially given the amount of his contract, but his production came at the wrong times for the team—he wasn’t hot when the team needed that heat. In fact, Matsui’s OPS+ was a couple of ticks better than Vlad’s this past season (124 vs 122—not a significant difference), but far north of the 107 Vlad posted in 2009 with the Angels—in that regard, Matsui in 2010 was a serious upgrade over Vlad of 2009. In order to highlight the Angels’ concern about Guerrero’s health, it is helpful to review his OPS+ year-by-year since the Angels signed him:

2004—157
2005—154
2006—138
2007—147
2008—130
2009—107

…in a stat where 100 is league average and 150 is stardom. Vlad, as a player, was crumbling as we watched him. There was no reason to assume that he would regain form, based upon the evidence shown in 2008 (defensively) and 2009 (offensively).

Finally, how many of our Top 20 Greatest Angels have made it to the W.S. on another team the following season they were allowed to leave?

° As one who has probably been a Angels fan longer than you’ve been alive, I promise you that number is smaller than the number of Angels who won their WS prior to joining the team. The Angels in the 70s through 90s were the best at signing players who had experienced WS glory, and were then easing into retirement with some of Mr Autry’s money. If Bill Stoneman did anything right, he put an end to that trend.

° If you view this season objectively—that is to say, without the useless whining you’re showing here—two things are clear: 1) Vlad on the Angels doesn’t figure to have made a significant difference to our season’s level of success, and 2) The Rangers—on the field, if not on paper—were a better team than the Angels. This is the task for the front office to resolve this offseason. I guarantee you, none of the solutions will involve signing Vlad Guerrero to a 2011 contract should the Rangers fail to pick up his option.

Let's agree to disagree Mister Kotter. I know I know, it was Gabe.

and I will stick to the following statement once more: IF Matsui had outplayed Vlad to the point that nobody missed him, then nobody would care about Vlad being gone because we would have something to look forward to next season at DH.

Your post hoc reasoning, once again, front and center

Matsui of 2010 greatly outplayed Guerrero of 2009. That is the only viable yardstick one can logically use. Nobody missed the Vlad of 2009. None of us here had any reason to believe Guerrero would have the year he did for the Rangers.

Further, as the OPS+ shows, Matsui and Guerrero had comparable offensive years. It is the results of the teams which differ, and to that end, there is no evidence that Guerrero would have made a difference in the outcome of 2010.

Finally, we DO have something to look forward to in 2011 at DH: Bobby Abreu, while the OF is stocked with Bourjos, Hunter and whomever the team signs to play LF.

You want a time machine. They don’t exist. Move on.

in lieu of a time machine we do have a search feature

SBN sites can check out what a person thought at the time of any deal with the right combo of search terms.

Need tech support

So I enter the terms on the advanced mode, fill in the necessary blanks, click the search and am told there are 16 comments which fit that search requirement.

But none of them appear. And clicking on the link which tells me there are 16 comments provides only an error message that the search can not be provided.

So what next?

Actually, that is not something that we all should be looking forward to, as it will likely ensure that he reaches the necessary PA's for his 2012 option to vest.
statistics aside... some do want their favorite angels player to remain an angel

i get that he had a “bad” 2009. but speaking as a fan who don’t necessarily understand what is the big deal with OPS and other statistics, i felt that we should have given him another chance to prove that 2009 was just a bad year.
personally speaking… as much as I wanted to give Matsui a try, he never brought that fan experience and excitement for me the same way Vladdy did for years.

It isn't about not liking Vlad

You’re not human if you don’t like the guy. That is why I don’t get those who are bemoaning the fact that he’s getting his trip to the World Series, if only in another team’s uniform. Clearly, this was the circumstance under which is was going to happen. Maybe the change of environment was the key.

That said, this is a game, but it is a business first. The unquestioned erosion of Guerrero’s talent, something seen by everyone here over 2008 and 2009, meant that he wasn’t considered the best option for the Angels in whom to invest $6M+ of payroll money. The team isn’t in business to employ fan-favorites until they decide to quit the game.

I don't recall reading anything that indicated Vlad was offered a contract by us.

Though often written here that he was, all I remember was that the club put out feelers on a 1 year deal while Vlad was still seeking a 2 year deal. So, the club moved quickly on Matsui.

I don’t believe Vlad was ever actually offered a one year deal to turn down. If you can cite something that indicates this I wrong, I’d appreciate seeing it. I understand the rationale for Matsui over Vlad stat-wise and would typically agree with that line of thinking, but the fan in me hated letting him go.

If Vlad actually was offered a contract and said no, that would go a long way towards easing my current disdain for the front office. And as a lifelong fan, that’s a disdain I’d like to get over.

having a friend in the FO

I can assure you that Vlad was offered a contract, but he declined it wanting more money and more years than what was offered. after denying what the Halos offered, and then them signing Matsui, Vlad ended up waiting around for several weeks and with no offers coming in at what Vlad and his agent thought he was worth, he took the Texas deal, realizing it was the best offer out there.

This is just from a quick search

Story here.

The Angels wanted Guerrero, a free agent, back, but only for one year. When Guerrero, according to Scioscia, asked for a deal “that was a lot longer in terms and guaranteed” money, the Angels signed Hideki Matsui to a one-year, $6-million deal to be their DH.

Guerrero eventually signed a one-year, $6.5-million deal with Texas that includes a $9-million mutual option for 2011, and he clearly has something left. He entered Tuesday with a .327 average, 15 homers and 60 RBIs.

“I’m not going to critique anyone,” Guerrero, speaking through an interpreter, said when asked about his decision to leave. “I know it’s a business. There are no hard feelings.”

Branch Rickey famously said, “It is better to trade a player one season too soon than one season too late.” Rickey never saw free agency in his professional lifetime, but that would apply in this case as well.

Congratulations Rangers....

You had to wear another team’s colors to win.

and buy other team's players.
they lost every game in red
meh

Rangers wore red first (circa 1983).

who gives a shit?

currently, the Halos are obviously the team in the AL West that sports red, while the Rangers are the team that sports Blue. If you are going to cite the past as to what a team should do, then Texas shouldn’t win in the postseason.

totally agree

Rangers ABANDONED red. End of story. We are the red team they are the blue team who stole our red look when we made it successful.

of all the things to possibly get annoyed by

this seems like one of the smallest ones.

I mean…isn’t the fact that the Rangers using several former Angels much more angering than whining about uniform colors?

well

its a long offseason, so anything and everything that we can bitch about, will be bitched about.

Did the Rangers just raise the bar for Mike Sciocia and the Angels?

Or was this a fluke? Perhaps 2002 was a fluke? Hmmmm….

No. Everything Vlad has ever done was a fluke.
I was pulling for the Rangers...........

Since Vicente Padilla left the team, I have no reason to dislike anything about Texas except their rivalry with the Angels.

I have friends in Texas; I’m happy for them.

I’m happy for Nolan Ryan, Vlad Guerrero, Benjie Molina, Darren Oliver, Darren O’Day, and the GREAT STATE of TEXAS!

I wish it could have been the Angels.

Texas is the worst state in the union

It is a waste of space that has not given this country anything positive in the 165 years they have been a state. They are all (I hate stereotyping, but a majority think this way) completely full of themselves with their “everything’s bigger in Texas,” “don’t mess with Texas,” their pledge of allegiance to the state flag, etc.

As for Nolan Ryan, he is a worthless traitor because he requested that his cap in the HOF have the Rangers insignia even though he spent his formative years and best years in Anaheim. As for the others . . . their on the enemy’s team now.

Sorry

Went a little crazy there for a second . . . disregard my previous statement. Haha.

obviously haven't been to delaware
Or New Jersey, or Florida.
Although every time I have to go through Texas I try to do so as quickly as is legal.
wack attack!

I didn’t think I could enjoy any game this post season .. But I don’t care which NL team is going forward … I’m watching and rooting like a mofo!!! Hopefully the phills get white hot and come back and sweep the WS

I cannot say those terrible words at the top of this page.

F**k Texas

Go National League (hopefully Giants).

I just don't understand the hate.

I used to always root for the Angels when they’d get in. I don’t get what there is to hate about the Rangers’ story. You guys beat the shit out of us every year, and you can’t be happy (or at least not angry) when something good finally happens for the boys from Texas?

in 6 seasons of blogging

you are the first Texas poster who was polite. So how is that for starters?

Agreed

You are the first Ranger fan that I have ever encountered (in person or online) that was not a complete jackass.

I also politically hate Texas . . . I know that I should separate politics and sports, but when Dubya is involved I can’t help myself. Sorry for bringing up politics, I hope this doesn’t turn into a political discussion . . . just stating why I hate Texas.

well thats why I am supporting the rangers this postseason

my good friend on the team is crazy about the rangers and he reminds me of myself during last year’s playoff run.

That's a retarded reason to hate a team.

but whatever floats your boat.

You politically hate Texas.....

yet you root for the team from Orange County…which has the same politics, actually had it much longer than Texas has. You don’t find that just a BIT ironic, possibly hypocritical??

Loretta Sanchez being elected in the mid 90s was the tipping point

away from OC being considered an analogy of whitebreadville.

Congratulations on a top-notch impression of a Rangers' fanpost

I see what you did there—you replaced “California” with “Texas” and “liberals” with “Dubya”.

You seriously need to get a grip. You just exemplified everything those paste-eaters on LSB show with regularity.

Mr Bailey, welcome, and congratulations on your entry to the World Series. Prepare to have the time of your life—this year.

Next year, it is all ours, of course.

Thanks!

We’ll have to see about next year, though! :)

I don't know, Rev.

I don’t judge the Angels based on the anger towards the Rangers that I see here. I guess I just look at it as, the team is MUCH different than the people posting on the internet ABOUT them.

i totally understand the way you see it

run a team blog for five years and you might see it the way i do.

I don't know.

I just started blogging with Bring On The Cats (my alma mater’s fan blog here on SBN), and there’s plenty of schools I don’t like, but I hope that I never become TOO jaded by rude fans to appreciate it when a team from our conference has a great year. I guess I’ll have to find out.

Congratulations on your blog.....and your #3 preseason ranking.

I just looked it up…..bringonthecats.com. How does the state of Kansas keep getting all those great basketball players?

I, for one, noticed that there was a LOT OF LOVE for TEXAS, as well as Oklahoma and Colorado here in California a few months ago. Some people still drool over the thought; they enjoy the feeling of power, and spending other people’s money.

Some people in Iowa

like to rag on Texas, too. Big game today!

Frank Martin is a great recruiter,

as is (unfortunately) Bill Self at Kansas.

I don't like Kinsler

Other than that, your team is decent. You guys got Vladdy, Bengie, and DO, after all. I have a ton of respect for Hamilton, too. That man can hit.

Good luck in the World Series.

Overall, it's nothing personal

For me, I don’t like Kinser just because of some things he’s said in the past…and a certain fan/former owner of yours that seems to always be there. Also, just think how you’d feel if like…Michael Young left last year and went to the World Series with the Angels or something like that. That’s sort of how I feel about Vlad. Anyway, it’s still better than the Yankees or Red Sox making it I guess.

More to Rev’s point: Someone from LSB posted his address and googlemaps directions to his house or a few months ago, so for his part, I can see why he feels the way he does.

Besides that, most of us are dudes, and dudes rip on each other…so yeah. Anyway, enjoy your victory!

And for reference, I know 3 Ranger fans in person that are all pretty cool
the trolls were out here long before

inkara started stalking me. I kinda miss the attention.

There's trolls, and then there's what that dude did

Which is more along the lines of a Gollum.

I am rooting for Texas in WS

Vladdy needs a ring before he retires. That aside, I think this brings credibility to AL West. Look at how they dominated NYY and TB.
Oh and SF sucks.

Wow, indeed

Thank you, Rev? Hopefully we will do the same what you guys did 8 years ago: beat the Giants (or the Phills)

If it's the Giants I'll be forced to root for Texas.

That makes me want to wash my hands after typing it.

If the Rangers win I will look at two positives

Ring for Vlad
Fire under Arte’s ass

Vlad is a beast.

I knew he would punish they Yankees at some point for walking Josh over and over and over. They were treating Hammy like he was freaking roided-up Bonds or something!

Thats what I was thinking

Go Rangers. Make Arte and the front office work hard this off season.

Heavy Sigh

Vlad always did want to stay an Angel and without him, the team feels like a wreck.

Yeah, I know he looked like a mess last season but it’s clear he was hurt. And even when a mess, he’s like that GF you can’t live with – and can’t live without.

- Ron Washington

The Halo was lit up tonight

Classy move by the Angels.

That IS classy!

Very cool!

*sigh*

Too bad theHalo couldn’t have been lit up for the Angels during the games against Boston. I can’t believe they couldn’t wait a month to start the repairs.

my understanding is it was four times over budget

and we are lucky it was done as good as it was as fast as it was without modifications to the structure.

Maybe, but I really believe they could have plugged in the lights for the halo after those wins.

I may remember it wrong, but it seemed like all they were doing was painting the Big A when the playoffs started.

Heck, I would have loaned them some of my Christmas lights.
The halo was lit Sunday night too . . .

I thought it was because the Ducks won that night . . . I wonder why they are actually lighting it up?

It was meant to be a search light beacon for free agents to find their way safely to Anaheim.
It was also lit up on thursday night as well
Go GIANTS.............

I’d rather them or the Phillies win……

No Ranger WS.

FU CK the Yanks thats the last time im pulling for em!
It's twice as much fun now re-reading Halowood's April, 1st fanpost

“Will the Texas Rangers Contend?” I saw pop up in the related fanposts on the right side bar:
http://www.halosheaven.com/2010/4/1/1401732/will-the-texas-rangers-contend
Looks like Halowood struck out in this fanpost now seeing how it all played out for the Rangers this season. I still think none of it might have happened had Nolan Ryan not been best buddies with Bud Selig.

Halowood struck out on a lot of fanposts

Partly, because he posted so many

No matter how shitty vlad is hitting

you never intentionally walk someone to get to him (case in point 2009 ALDS red sox epic comeback), hell always burn you

If I remove all emotion (impossible)...

…I know that under any state of mind, I could never root for the Yankees. Period.

Saying it any other way would make hypocritical.

And although most Ranger boards have banned me (including the SB Nation one), I don’t have anything against the team. Half of them are our favorite ex-Angels (FU Angels FO) and they’ve never been a nemesis other than playing in the same division.

Sadly, I think I’m rooting for them in the WS as well.

1) If they win it all, there is a small chance it keeps Lee from the Skanks and that is win
2) It makes the AL West a little less of a sewer than it is
3) It puts a lot of pressure on the the Angels to do something and stay relevant (and keep attendance from declining further)
4) Gives me an excuse to drink/smoke

FML

+1 ... except for #4
Happy for Rangers fans, happy for Vlad & Bengie, happy for Nolan

It’s a Good Thing when a $55 million team put together smartly upends the Evil Empire after decades of frustration. I was rooting for them hard, and yelped when Bengie hit his homer & Vladdy hit his double. They are a very good story, and they’re representin’ the AL West.

Still, I’ll probably root for the Giants.

I'm Happy About It

Go Rangers. It’s hard to root for them, but against the most evil sports team in history, yeah, I’ll root for Satan himself.

I know that Vlad plays well in his favorite stadium in Arlington. I know that. But it still doesn’t make me any happier to see him do so well there. There’s this storyline of the Angels letting him go and how he’s still got something and blah blah blah, and of course he does. Check it out.

Split R H HR RBI BA OBP SLG OPS
Home 49 98 16 63 .315 .354 .527 .881
Away 34 80 13 52 .284 .336 .461 .796

So away he was 2009 Vlad, give or take. It was at home that he was great. It was obviously the right move for his career; I just wince every time I hear about how the Angels let him go and all that jazz.

Congratulations Rangers

However as a loyal Halos fan, my only desire for you to continue winning is so that:

1) The Yankees drive up the price of Cliff Lee to the extent that Greenberg and Ryan are selling plasma to retain him;

2) Arte really does step up large with the checkbook realizing the gap between to catch the Rangers is more than just one or two players.

Tip of the cap to the Rangers

Well done and while it is easier to root for them as they have a handful of former Halos, I still cannot bear the thought of Vladdy going to the World Series in anything but an Angels uni. Going to have to cheer for the NL in the Series for that fact alone.

Still, my Vlad mancrush rolls on , as does my love for Nolan Ryan and it was good to see them and the Rangers blow up the proverbial Death Star last night.

I also concur with the rest of you that hope Arte is fired up and won’t let another 2010 happen again on his watch…

Minus our starting pitching and Kendry Morales, I would gladly trade our entire team for the Rangers team

There isn’t one player this past season that by midway through the season I would miss next year! Well, maybe Naps.

Torii?
Torii is on the downhill side of a fine career....
theysaid that when we signed him

and he has at times carried the team… they (me included) also said it about vlad as a justification to not re-sign him… YA NEVEAH KNOW…

I cannot tell a lie....

I wish it was us going to the WS….but….I will not begrudge the Rangers happiness. Congrats, Im happy for Vladdy, and Mr. Oliver and Bengie. Especially Vladdy and Mr. Oliver, I want you guys to get the rings you so richly deserve. Best of luck.

Congratulations to the Rangers and their fans.

I will be really happy to see Vladdy’s beaming smile when the Rangers wrap up the Series in 5 games. He has quite a smile. Go Rangers, rep the AL well.

But, after the World Series, you will be my “enemy” again. :)

whatever.

i hope texas sucks in front of the smallest attendance and viewers the ws will ever have.
