Jeff Biggs on today's AM 830 radio show THE DRIVE spoke to TORI HERNANDEZ, the Angels Manager of Baseball Operations (nice title!) on Tuesday afternoon. Biggs goes over the recent Baseball America Top Ten Angels Prospects from Number 10 to Number 1 and talks about the team's minor league organizations.
Take the time to listen to all of this, it is info-packed audio, Biggs is at his best here, pulling all the info out of a guest for the benefit of his listeners. Tori Hernandez will never be mistaken for Mel from Fullerton.
Nice to see Biggsy talking to real experts on our minor league system. As always, big thanks to Jason Brennan for sending over these audio files fresh!

Can someone
please tell Mel from Fullerton that he does NOT have to be on the radio every day, twice a day???
For some reason, every time I turn on KLAA to listen to either Roger Lodge or Biggsy and Jason, no matter what, I get to hear Mel from Fullerton. And I’m not counting all the times I hear him on Angel Talk..

I have Mel from Fullerton on the line for you
Commander_Nate - January 19, 2010
I have the same problem.
Unless I dial into 830AM during that stooopid snake oil medicine promo show, or ‘Drivin’ Dirty’, I get Mel From Fullerton. So I have stopped dialing in, and I will not dial in again until I know that it is game time, when I am certain that they will not be taking any callers.

At least he's better than most callers...
I like that ‘older’ gentleman from Ventura (is it Greg?) who always calls Bigsy et al. He reminds me of sort of a grandfather kind-a-dude weighing in on the state of Haloville.
It’s almost like a benediction.
You should be a caller, S…we need you on the airwaves brother.
Raaddad - January 19, 2010
Greg is cool
Jerry from Buena Park calls up after a few swigs of the bottle with his old lady jeering him on…
Rev Halofan - January 19, 2010
Ha!
I’ll have to check that out next time.
Raaddad - January 19, 2010
In order to be a Bigsy caller, I need to first be a Bigsy listener.
No offense to Bigsy, but we already know that I am commited no never being a Bigsy listener again…thanks in no msall part to his program’s love for guys like Mel From Fullerton.

Somehow
I’ve had the good fortune to never hear Mel from Fullerton.

BA Top 10 Angels Top Prospects.
I would not necessarily put Conger at # 1 until we see a full season at AAA.I would put Reckling at # 1.And even though Trevor Bell did make progress last year with a call up to the big club,I would place Mark Trumbo at # 10.I know that Trumbo has seen his rankings fall from last year,I believe that given the chance he has more upside than Trevor Bell.I also like the catcher we drafted out of Arizona,he might have even more upside than Bell. One of the prospects I do not know about is Fabio Martinez. The only thing I know of him is that he came out of the DR.
I also have never heard of Mel from Fullerton.

Grichuk's ceiling is Ryan Braun??
YES PLEASE!!!
howiestheman - January 19, 2010
also korean for hell yeah is
dae han min gook! clap clap clapclapclap
teopeht - January 19, 2010
Really? 'Cuz I was at the '09 WBC Final...
…and they were chanting that and I joined in.
Why would they be chanting “Hell Yeah” at their Japanese opponents? I figured it for something offensive, especially considering the last part.
Commander_Nate - January 19, 2010
I'm pretty sure american military slang isn't common vernacular in korean.
clover_black - January 19, 2010
Well, it spread far beyond the US military a while ago
And the US military has been in Korea for 50+ years.
And to say Japan and Korea have some bad blood between them is a bit of an understatement. It could be possible. It was the spelling that got me wondering until BigKahunaMan’s post below.
Commander_Nate - January 20, 2010
Unfortunately, it's not
“Dae han min guk” is South Korea’s official name in Korean. It’s just like us saying “U-S-A!”
BigKahunaMan - January 19, 2010
Ok, that makes more sense
I just figured it was more of a taunt or something based on the…uh…“interaction” between the two sets of fans.
My buddy and I jumped on the Korean bandwagon because the Japanese had eliminated the US in the semis. The whole experience reminded was awesome. It reminded me of the World Cup or World Series. It really convinced me that the WBC has a future.
Commander_Nate - January 20, 2010
Whatever agreement you have with Biggsy and the gang from 830
that gets these MP3s posted here is appreciated, Rev.
Nice to be able to hear this from the road.
LAASurfin - January 19, 2010
Do we have both men in American named Tori [Torii, whathaveyou]?
I mean, seriously, are there any other Torii’s out there? Not in the top 1,000 male baby names as far back as I can check … you can check my math here
LazorkoRules - January 19, 2010
Rumor was Tori Spelling was going to be the 8th inning arm
until we signed Fernando Rodney
Rev Halofan - January 19, 2010
Torey Lovullo was also an Angel ...
So we have a trifecta people. All baseball Tori’s must be associated with the Angels. And wasn’t Joe Torre a color guy for us for a while?
LazorkoRules - January 20, 2010
Love it
how Tori kept saying the Trout was our first overall pick, instead of Grichuk. Just goes to show you how the Angels were REALLY thinking. lol.
