Final Score in Missouri: Los Angeles Angels of Adventureland: 2 ... Kansas City Royals: 1
Practically begging the Royals to take the game, the Angels had only 3 hits on Friday Night in Kansas City. Jered Weaver was stellar on the mound, though, scattering all sorts of baserunners and managing to dominate KC batters. Weaver allowed 9 Hits but only 1 Earned Run, walked 1 and struck out 6. It added up to Little Weave's 14th victory of 2009.

The Angels got all their scoring down late when Vladimir Guerrero stepped up for the second time in the game with the bases loaded. He laced a double down the LF line, redeeming a weak 2-out grounder he had tapped with the bases juiced early in the contest.
If someone told you that the Angels only had 3 hits and their opponents had 11, without saying it was the Royals would you have believed they pulled off a win? Sure, yeah right. The bitter pills were being passed around on the board here tonight but I will tell you what - after 21 scoreless innings, who could blame Angel fans for peering at the wild card standings and wondering what our chances were after Texas overtakes us.
Put the panic on hold, the drain was plugged up a but tonight. Kevin Jepsen had a 2 K inning for the Hold and Brian Fuentes saw an awesome Erick Aybar to Maicer Izturis to K-Mo double play get the first two outs of the 9th inning, receiving his 38th save of the season when the final out was recorded.

Gotta give it to Jered persevering with almost no help at all.

Honestly, how much harder could he be?
in the last 27 innings of baseball we have scored 5 runs.

Halos hitters seem to do better against the "best" the AL has to offer
its when they’ve never seen a guy before that they run into problems.

Now THAT would be a fun research project.
Go through the game logs of rookie AL pitchers for the past 5 seasons and compare how they do during their first appearance against he Halos versus the balance of their year.

WTY
Vlad’s two ribbies don’t make up for his bases loaded fail in the 6th. Especially since Farnsworth had just walked Chupa on 4 pitches.

This win for him reminded me of a Nolan Ryan win back in the day.
