She inspired my 5 yo to leave his game ball at the Adenhart memorial as we walked out of the stadium. He had gotten the ball from Tommy Hunter of the Rangers as Hunter left the bullpen prior to the first inning.

Angel beat-writer for 3 years in the late 80s, early 90s.

Who’s to know where her loyalties lie… don’t forget Torre was an Angels broadcaster for 6 years.

Her columns have tended to gush a bit about the Angels, that's why I said that.

I really don’t understand the comment about Torre, unless you think that he should have turned down the job managing the Yankees because of loyalty to the Angels.

He speaks respectfully of the Angels.

Uh, sort of, yes. But she usually writes columns that praise the Angels, unlike diGiovanna. Although, he has been better this year.

I've always thought diGiovanna had a nasty predisposition

to overvaluing Angels minor-league talent.

Just from cursory looks at Helene’s articles, it looks like she spends her time spread out all over the LA sport-scape, which to me says she’s just parroting what ESPN Boston and the Globe will be reporting in the morning:

“Yes, the Angels won the division, but we’ll just crush them. Again.”

I had about 10 people in my section in the 7th inning at whom I yelled: “Where the HELL are you going? There’s going to be a celebration here TONIGHT!” They stuck around even though they had packed up and started leaving!

Good for you. I'm always annoyed when fans leave before the end of the game.

Awesome Game

I know this is late but I just had to post. I just got home from the game and it was incredible. You could just sense that the team wanted this over tonight.. It was amazing to see them go out to centerfield and pay tribute to Nick. Pouring champagne over his hat just like any other player.

I don’t care what any newspaper article says, the playoffs are the playoffs. It not like a game during the season. We can do this. In faith that I know we can… I’m buying my ALCS ticket tomorrow and so should all other Angels fans who can afford to do so.

Thank you Angels – I had a blast this season. I’ll be there celebrating again on Thursday too.

There was a point, I think it was during the 4th inning, where it seemed that

the Angels and the Rangers were playing in different time zones. I live about 4 miles from the stadium and I could feel the electricity crackling in the air from here.

I just wrote this up a few threads...

I am equally as confused/infuriated by this. If I didn’t work at UCLA, I’d be there every night!

I think that after Saturday's game...

bandwagoners may have given up… True fans were at the game today (not saying you’re not a fan if you couldn’t make it). There just were not the bandwagoneers that are there it was “real” fans.

Also, I was at Sunday’s game and Fan Appreciation Day is usually sold out and it wasn’t. I think people had given up. I’m ok with that – we don’t need bandwagoneers, we need the seats for the real fans.

We considered which game we could make it to this week and chose Thursday.

We have great seats, Row E behind the Angels dugout. Couldn’t believe they were still available online on the Angels site.

Weekday day game is my guess.

There were some seriously down moments this year.

I thought the bullpen was going to seriously screw up the entire season. Well, the offense picked up the slack, then the starters have come through here at the end of the season. Glad that this team showed the heart and determination to go the distance and win the division. Sorry I gave up there in the middle of the season.

No. Most of us aren't Mormons.

I wasn’t raised in a home where alcohol was consumed either, but I do have a small glass of wine once every six months or so. I am well aware of the problems caused by alcohol but I will also point out the wine Jesus created at the wedding at Cana.
