My brother and I have an argument, he says that pitchers in the Major Leagues are not allowed to throw underhand. But I have seen pitchers throw underhand. Is there a rule stating whether or not a pitcher can throw underhand?
— Carrie
[Umpire Lance] Barksdale: I would think they can if they want to. No, there’s no rule.
First post in this game thread, so sorry if it is something everyone else has said….
Funny how the offense shows up today, but the pitching has taken the day off! Weird. I’d like to see a game that is 20-0 halos just to balance out this weirdness.
Oh. I thought you were still talking about that thing earlier
about losing this game means we don’t make the postseason. If you just mean that playing like this won’t get us to the World Series, then you’re correct.
I was referring to the abysmal play recently as not indicating a good post-season run.
I’ve made many a mention in the previous thread about how even with a loss tonight, we still have to go solely .500 to take the division without interruption.
napoli is a second rate catcher with some good pop
got on a decent streak for a couple months and has crashed back down to reality. Im not defending mathis, but to say napoli is the be all end all to our problems is laughable.
I would have no second thoughts if the team we weren't playing the team we're fighting for first
But with our struggles against Texas this year + our inconsistency lately….it’s hard not to be a little worried. We could be only 4 games up on Monday with a 4 game set vs Texas.
Team wasnt good Orel was the man for them If Gibson doesnt homer they lose the series sorry but with Anderson and Stubbs . Not one guy with 100 rbi’s or 30 HRs it was a crap team
They had the best in baseball, but with the way things are today and the worry or pitch count he wouldnt have been able to do what he did in the playoffs. He was a chief
Always ticketed to be a starter got his start in the pen like Joba. Wainwright became closer because Izzy was hurt. He never started a game in that 2006 post
Not that great for an NL bullpen though. The one thing he did well was not walk people and throw strikes. He wasn’t really the sort you’d put confidence in with the game on the line. He was more of a good luck charm, kind of like Palmer.
Comparitively, the 2006 Cards had a 97 OPS+ and a 98 ERA+.
88 Dodgers had a 90 OPS+ and 113 ERA+. The Cardinals were a below-average team compared to the rest of their league, and the Dodgers were above average, if only slightly.
Keep in mind that the Cardinals also played in an era where the NL is undoubtedly the weaker divison, whereas in the 80’s it was more even.
only 7 NL tams have won a WS since 88. Oakland was a huge fav to win. Are you old enough to have even watched the series then or been familiar with the players that the Dodgers had?
I’ve watched the series in retrospect, and I’m familliar with the players if only because half of them are now coaches for the Angels.
I don’t see why that matters. The dodgers might have been serious underdogs, but they had the pitching to win. The Cardinals were just a massively inferior team on both sides of the ball.
They were not good and it was easy to see. The Dodgers won on pitching alone while in 2006 did you really think Det was the better team when you matched them up? Young pitching staff old tired closer and basically the Tigers were a very young team except for Pudge. I wasnt surprised by them betting the Tigers
You use what you see and have seen for over 20 yrs as an evaluator in the game you dont use the bean counter in the office. Cards had a better pitching staff then the NYM that is what happened in that series
I don’t know what else he could do tonight. He switched up the offense and they scored a crap-ton of runs. Every pitcher was ass. I don’t know if taking any of them out earlier — only to be replaced by someone else who was pitching like ass — would have made any difference.
This is a page turner. Sometimes you need to get your ass kicked to get you fired up. We just got our ass kicked by a sub 500 team. Heads will roll tomorrow.

Something I found interesting
Saunders ERA + 107 Winning % 676
Jered Weaver ERA+ 121 Winning % 649
Lackey ERA+ 118 Winning % 590
Santana ERA+ 98 Winning % 563
Those are career numbers and the pitchers who are caught by Naps have the higher winning %.

deejayelleseven - September 26, 2009
Dude, that pitch looks suspiciously under then horizontal line
above which is where pitchers are supposed to slot their arms.
shiftyeyedgoat - September 26, 2009
Is there actually a rule on that?
Or is it just the common way of pitching?
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
I've heard from umps that there is a rule construed as such
but it is neither enforced nor commonly known due to its obscurity in wording.
I’m finding the letter of the law now.
shiftyeyedgoat - September 26, 2009
I wouldnt be surprised if they just let it go
They frequently look the other way with balks

K3YEROUT - September 26, 2009
little late mike
salmonforever - September 26, 2009
Man this game is pathetic
Caseys Kiss of Death - September 26, 2009
too late Mike
Moondoggy - September 26, 2009
he's good at that
too late on Lackey, too late on Jepsen……
MH252525 - September 26, 2009
Here comes the '07 Mets upstaging
Caseys Kiss of Death - September 26, 2009
That 4 game set with Texas starting Monday isnt helping things right now
linkbruin - September 26, 2009
all we have to do is win 2 of those games.....
and they have it clinched……thats nothing.
norcaliangelsfan - September 26, 2009
we're what 5-10 against them this year?
so it’s close
linkbruin - September 26, 2009
yeah but if they lose other games as well
then it helps us……we dont even have to beat them once in the next series and they could still not catch us.
norcaliangelsfan - September 26, 2009
Not going to happen.
Downing Rules - September 26, 2009
Jespsen = fail
UCIHalo - September 26, 2009

clover_black - September 26, 2009

Red - September 26, 2009

figgifig - September 26, 2009
Can't blame the pen when they haven't seen much action lately
BOTG=Soth for allowing the offense to remain status quo during this lull
HALO N BRIMSTONE - September 26, 2009
are you kidding me?
of course you can blame the whole pitching staff today.
Each day is a new game.
norcaliangelsfan - September 26, 2009
Dude.
Its not Soth’s fault THAT THESE GUYS CANT PERFORM.
clover_black - September 26, 2009
????
Can we blame them when they have been over worked? They should be ready to get the job done they shit the bed
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
Chances this statement is true:
“If the Angels don’t win this game, the Angels lose the season”
Any oddsmakers want in?
shiftyeyedgoat - September 26, 2009
I'll take odds that it's not.
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
sounds like an overraction to me
salmonforever - September 26, 2009
HELL NO
princeton11loveshalos - September 26, 2009
good lord no.
we will win the division
Northwest - September 26, 2009
I need another loss tmrw from us to take that action
linkbruin - September 26, 2009
It's possible
Man, that sets up for an EPIC fail that just blows 1995 completely out of the water, doesn’t it?
Clutch - September 26, 2009
Surely;
which is why I posted it, just to show its absurdity.
Let’s already look past this game and forget it entirely!
shiftyeyedgoat - September 26, 2009
I think it's a lot more possible than just being absurd, but
Probably not going to happen all the same! Hopefully!
Clutch - September 27, 2009
I'm not "feelin'" this team going into the playoffs
Red - September 26, 2009
Peaked too soon...
July and August were the offensive months.
shiftyeyedgoat - September 26, 2009
Because if there's one thing this team is missing tonight.
It’s offense.
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
Funny...
First post in this game thread, so sorry if it is something everyone else has said….
Funny how the offense shows up today, but the pitching has taken the day off! Weird. I’d like to see a game that is 20-0 halos just to balance out this weirdness.
Downing Rules - September 26, 2009
I said that in the last thread and was
soundly beaten to a pulp.
shiftyeyedgoat - September 26, 2009
???
When?
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
Uh, here
http://www.halosheaven.com/2009/9/26/1030645/beaneball-in-anaheim-game-thread#21851462
But don’t let facts cloud your judgment.
shiftyeyedgoat - September 26, 2009
I must have missed where one person objecting is being "soundly beaten to a pulp."
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
Because semantics are so important!
The only way you could be more trifling is if you said “you didn’t even come into physical contact with anyone!”
Learn to understand hyperbole and its effective use.
shiftyeyedgoat - September 26, 2009
Oookay...I'm sorry for being concerned you had been jumped on in the previous topic.
I guess I’ll stop doing so.
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
that's just cause we don't like you
Moondoggy - September 26, 2009
oh, the irony is weighing heavy.
i just cant laugh at it anymore.

Downing Rules - September 26, 2009
Keep making excuses Guby

Moondoggy - September 26, 2009
I don't think Angels can clinch to playoff.
mjhsieh - September 26, 2009
Flashbacks of 1995 anyone?
HALO N BRIMSTONE - September 26, 2009
unfortunately yes.
mjhsieh - September 26, 2009
the biggest the Angels lead was was what 7.5?
after this it will be 5 right?
MH252525 - September 26, 2009
are you on crack?
the 1995 Angels had losing streaks of of like 7 or 9 games two times in 2 months.
MH252525 - September 26, 2009
It'll only take one losing streak unfortunately
and a winning streak by the Rangers to possibly force a tie breaker, am I right? Besides, I was too young to remember, lol.
HALO N BRIMSTONE - September 26, 2009
all we need is to win 2 games......and for the rangers to lose two games
or…we beat the Rangers head to head twice……and thats it the Division is clinched.
Its not even close to being choked away yet.
norcaliangelsfan - September 26, 2009
Yeah, just gotta have faith!
I was being sarcastic earlier.
HALO N BRIMSTONE - September 26, 2009
Wow Mister Mike is just pushing all the right buttons
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
10-12
K3YEROUT - September 26, 2009

HALO N BRIMSTONE - September 26, 2009

Good bye, post-season.
shiftyeyedgoat - September 26, 2009
Can I quote you on this?
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
do it
figgifig - September 26, 2009
If you think this team is getting out of the ALDS
assuming they even MAKE it to the post-season, then you’ve lost it.
shiftyeyedgoat - September 26, 2009
*the way they've been playing
that is.
shiftyeyedgoat - September 26, 2009
sorry
but I have faith
maybe u lost urs
but i still have mine
princeton11loveshalos - September 26, 2009
exactly
once you’re in anything can happen.
Zu Long taught me that.
norcaliangelsfan - September 26, 2009
Oh. I thought you were still talking about that thing earlier
about losing this game means we don’t make the postseason. If you just mean that playing like this won’t get us to the World Series, then you’re correct.
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
Correct;
I was referring to the abysmal play recently as not indicating a good post-season run.
I’ve made many a mention in the previous thread about how even with a loss tonight, we still have to go solely .500 to take the division without interruption.
shiftyeyedgoat - September 26, 2009
Good bye this game.
Post season is still looking good.
Downing Rules - September 26, 2009
bad night for pitching i guess

Moondoggy - September 26, 2009
WOW, is that's the Angels, please don't enter the post season.
mjhsieh - September 26, 2009
Can u say The pen Sux Ballz
Nice job way to go after them and knock the A’s out …….solid effort
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
pitching FAIL
howiestheman - September 26, 2009
I hate fans that walk out at a time like this. STUPIDITY…
Downing Rules - September 26, 2009

I would be hard pressed to stay after that HR
linkbruin - September 26, 2009
I never leave but the hope does
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
it's their money

UCIHalo - September 26, 2009
Sure. And they are a bunch of idiots.
Downing Rules - September 26, 2009
Choakland with the ass rapeage.
playing like this, we don’t deserve the division.
clover_black - September 26, 2009

clover_black - September 26, 2009
my 13 still lives in the dark ages
shaqfor3 - September 26, 2009
1 step at a time
angels need to score some runs in the 8th and see what happens in the 9th if they want a chance
shaqfor3 - September 26, 2009
com'on, please make it fun again.
Let’s win this game Angels.
mjhsieh - September 26, 2009
Northwest - September 26, 2009
This team needs the Heimlich Manuever ASAP
or an enema!
HALO N BRIMSTONE - September 26, 2009
an enema??
that sounds pleasant
shaqfor3 - September 26, 2009
18 fucking hits
linkbruin - September 26, 2009
Like watching a whiffleball game
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
So the offense shows up
And the pitching goes to hell?
It has to balance out or they’re will not make it in the postseason. AWFUL.
TheAntiSox - September 26, 2009
2 Mathis starts
2 horrible losses. Not a coincidence.
MH252525 - September 26, 2009
He doesn't get those 6 runs on his CERA
linkbruin - September 26, 2009
how about the other 9
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
Seriously
I don’t know why the hell Nap isnt starting right now.
TheAntiSox - September 26, 2009
Napoli is horsehit as well.
I dont understand the man love for that scrub.
clover_black - September 26, 2009
uh he can actually hit maybe???
don’t know if this still applies but earlier this year he had the 3rd highest SLG % for a catcher of all time.
MH252525 - September 26, 2009
napoli is a second rate catcher with some good pop
got on a decent streak for a couple months and has crashed back down to reality. Im not defending mathis, but to say napoli is the be all end all to our problems is laughable.
clover_black - September 26, 2009
Mathis is not even that good of defender always throws it into center field
Angelsrthebest101 - September 26, 2009
just another scoscia love affair
Angelsrthebest101 - September 26, 2009
No
Napoli used to be the starter. Until he became the worst hitting catcher in baseball the past six weeks or so.
Brody - September 26, 2009
but he handles the pitching staff so well
UCIHalo - September 26, 2009
They lead you to believe that
TheAntiSox - September 26, 2009
clearly.
Northwest - September 26, 2009
if choakland can score 6 runs in an inning...
… so can we.
Northwest - September 26, 2009
Hell, we did it once already.
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
Guys a 5 game lead with a basically a week to play is
HUGE, not even close to worried.
MH252525 - September 26, 2009
True
But this is embarrassing. No longer worried about making the postseason, its how they’ll play in the postseason.
TheAntiSox - September 26, 2009
Why worry about something thats more than a week away.
Fortunes can change in a hour in the game of baseball.
norcaliangelsfan - September 26, 2009
Yeah, an hour ago at 9-2, I imagine this place was BRIMMING with optimism.
Downing Rules - September 26, 2009
You'd imagine wrong, son.
You vastly underestimate our powers of deconstructive cyncism!
shiftyeyedgoat - September 26, 2009
Yeah great then the playoffs
looks so promising when the team is all over the place
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
and what team right now is playing well?
the Twins?
MH252525 - September 26, 2009
a's and royals
figgifig - September 26, 2009
exactly my point
the Yankees, Red Sox and Tigers all have pressing concerns too and before this game the Angels starting pitching has been flat dominating….
MH252525 - September 26, 2009
oh red sox are doing well too
i forgot
figgifig - September 26, 2009
they are 5-5 their last 10
and when we played them in Boston they didn’t look so hot, the Angels didn’t even play that well and should have won the series
MH252525 - September 26, 2009
i agree
rangers would have 2 sweep us
figgifig - September 26, 2009
still confident after watching the angels lose 4 in a row
which is how many they would have to lose to Texas
UCIHalo - September 26, 2009
I would have no second thoughts if the team we weren't playing the team we're fighting for first
But with our struggles against Texas this year + our inconsistency lately….it’s hard not to be a little worried. We could be only 4 games up on Monday with a 4 game set vs Texas.
linkbruin - September 26, 2009
What the HELL is going on around here??

just not right now.
rspencer - September 26, 2009
Oh i'm definitely of the opinion that the 4 losses couldnt have come at a worse time
I just had to think of one.
linkbruin - September 26, 2009
Maybe this is all just rope-a-dope
and the team wants to clinch against Texas.
Yeah, that’s it.
rspencer - September 26, 2009
Guess which other Angels team lost four in a row heading into the last few games
of the season?
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
Either 1995 or 2002.
It’s either/or..
shiftyeyedgoat - September 26, 2009
Yeah.
But only one of them was coached by Mike Scioscia.
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
if they play CLEAN against Boston and don't blow saves
they will win.
NY has a good club and no way can Scioscia’s type of lineup be considered a favorite in that stadium.
Quinlan's Goofy Swing - September 26, 2009
Nonsense.
Any Angels team that can beat the Red Sox can wallop the Yankees.
shiftyeyedgoat - September 26, 2009
Are they really gonna crawl across the finish line?
firebird81 - September 26, 2009
right now
I’d take a crawl
Moondoggy - September 26, 2009

I’m glad I’m already wrong!

This is the Oakland team I thought would be around this season

didnt the Cards scuff it up the year they won recently?
salmonforever - September 26, 2009
Yes.
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
Yankees in 2000 were crap in September and ended up with only 87 wins
Fan Since 1981 - September 26, 2009
Nearly lost out on the post-season
but they’re widely regarded as the worst world series team… ever at 83 wins.
shiftyeyedgoat - September 26, 2009
They had the magic once they got there though.
Anything can happen in the post-season.
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
Sorry that would be the 88 Dodgers hands down
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
The 88 Dodgers won 94 games.
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
So what!!
Team wasnt good Orel was the man for them If Gibson doesnt homer they lose the series sorry but with Anderson and Stubbs . Not one guy with 100 rbi’s or 30 HRs it was a crap team
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
Mickey Hatcher put the team on his back!
;)
Downing Rules - September 26, 2009
Hatcher was out of his mind in that series
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
some say he is STILL out of his mind!
;)
Living in Palmdale will do that to you.
Downing Rules - September 26, 2009
Who is in Palmdale?
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
Hatch.
Downing Rules - September 26, 2009
After he of hit one of his World Series HRs, Hatcher tried the forearm bash
And hammed it up as if he were in great pain after the bash.
Fan Since 1981 - September 26, 2009
Where you even old enough to see or watch that series
or just going with BR #’s
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
I watched the 2006 Cardinals.
They were a very bad team.
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
Agree with you but 88 Dodgers were not a good team in my opinion the worst team to win a series
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
I just have trouble imagining a 94-win team being worse than a team
than only managed to be a single game over .500.
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
So they were a great pitching team.
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
I wouldnt say great pitching team
They had the best in baseball, but with the way things are today and the worry or pitch count he wouldnt have been able to do what he did in the playoffs. He was a chief
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
Best being Orel Hershiser that is
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
Who else would you have been talking about?
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
Tim Leary and Tim Belcher were pretty good that year too though.
And their bullpen was great.
I mean, have you seen the Cardinals pitching staff from 2006? Jason Marquis and Jeff Weaver were their post-season aces, for crying out loud!
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
Chris Carp wasnt bad and Wainwright well all in baseball knew he was legit
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
Carp was 3-1 in the post that year
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
Not to mention they had and still do have the best player in baseball on the team
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
Baseball thought Wainwright had no business starting a game in the postseason
as he had performed so admirably in the bullpen that year.
There was a consensus it was LaRussa going loco that convinced him to put Wainwright in the rotation.
shiftyeyedgoat - September 26, 2009
What I saw him when he was a HS player
Always ticketed to be a starter got his start in the pen like Joba. Wainwright became closer because Izzy was hurt. He never started a game in that 2006 post
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
They had Carpenter, Wainwright and beyond that
they had NOBODY.
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
Nobody where on the staff?
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
Yeah, the pitching staff.
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
yeah but they had a solid team when you match it up against the 88 Dodgers
Dodgers had nothing but 2 guys that were gamers
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
Again
Belcher and Leary were dominant. Basically their whole bullpen was good-great.
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
I mean really-
Jeff Suppan was their second best starter.
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
Pen was solid with Looper Wainwright and Izzy
They had a solid hitting INF as well and a very good OF
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
Seriously, only someone who didn't watch that team
could claim Looper and Izzy were good. I watched them, and they weren’t. Izzy lost 8 games for a reason.
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
Yeah tried to pitch through injury
Looper was a solid 7th inning guy and he was legit.
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
He was okay in the 7th-8th.
Not that great for an NL bullpen though. The one thing he did well was not walk people and throw strikes. He wasn’t really the sort you’d put confidence in with the game on the line. He was more of a good luck charm, kind of like Palmer.
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
Looper has way better stuff then Palmer has ever had
I have gunned him many of nights with a 84 slider and lets not forget that he had almost 100 saves prior to that season. So he wasnt chop liver
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
His stuff might be better.
His results were about the same. Seriously, he’s okay, but saying he’s your setup man mean’s there’s something seriously wrong with your pen.
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
Dont get me wrong I dont think the Cards were great but they were better then the 88 Dodgers
If you go by records then they (Cards) show badly but that Dodger team was weak
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
*shrug*
Comparitively, the 2006 Cards had a 97 OPS+ and a 98 ERA+.
88 Dodgers had a 90 OPS+ and 113 ERA+. The Cardinals were a below-average team compared to the rest of their league, and the Dodgers were above average, if only slightly.
Keep in mind that the Cardinals also played in an era where the NL is undoubtedly the weaker divison, whereas in the 80’s it was more even.
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
Shift of power was taking place already
only 7 NL tams have won a WS since 88. Oakland was a huge fav to win. Are you old enough to have even watched the series then or been familiar with the players that the Dodgers had?
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
Nope. I was 3.
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
I ask because
They were not good and it was easy to see. The Dodgers won on pitching alone while in 2006 did you really think Det was the better team when you matched them up? Young pitching staff old tired closer and basically the Tigers were a very young team except for Pudge. I wasnt surprised by them betting the Tigers
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
Been proven many times that the team with the best record doesnt win the Series
So thats why records are not all that important. Its the players and The 88 Dodger team as a whole was awful
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
How can you say they were awful as a whole
when their entire pitching staff was great?
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
Great pitching > Great hitting is the way the expression goes, I believe.
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
And that would explain the NYM losing
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
Really?
Marquis is your “great pitching” ?
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
When did I say he was great? when did I ever say the Cards were great at Pitching in 2006?
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
Its good pitching beat good hitting
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
When you match the Cards against the NYM you get Cards good by default
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
Honestly I take the Mets over the Cards
pitching wise in that series. Especially the bullpen.
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
Bully lost it for the Mets wouldnt you say
I think thats what Omar has been trying to do since that series
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
What good pitching?
Carpenter got lit up. He was all the good pitching they had.
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
When ?
He got lit up when ?
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
In the NLCS
5.56 ERA
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
Bullpen bucket of crap for the NYM in that series right?
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
For the Mets?
Mostly just Wagner, who was awesopme during the regular series and was still
throwing 95-96 as a lefty at the time.
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
Is still watched him do that a few times this year
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
In fact was that today
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
Check that
5.73 ERA. My bad.
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
Well, if great pitching beats great hitting
and that’s why the mets lost, then what am I supposed to think?
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
Match ups is what you think
You use what you see and have seen for over 20 yrs as an evaluator in the game you dont use the bean counter in the office. Cards had a better pitching staff then the NYM that is what happened in that series
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
No way.
Carpenter, Wainwright and Looper +
a bucket of crap is not better than Glavine Maine Hernandez +an awesome bullpen
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
Whole Team
As a whole team they were awful. The caught lightning in a bottle. John Shelby Jeff Hamilton
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
We're not even to the Tigers yet.
How the hell did the Cards get past the Mets?
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
LOL
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
Speaking of not there yet
How did the NYM lose to the Dodgers? Lost 10 games won 1 during the year
Angel Aviator - September 26, 2009
Now there's a question.
On paper the Mets should have completely obliterated the Dodgers. Maybe its’ the MEts. Maybe they just suck against inferior teams in the postseason.
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
Like I said.
It’s not like this is the first time we’ve sucked down the stretch.
Zu Long - September 26, 2009
yep, I remember how disappointed I was with our finish
tanana40 - September 26, 2009
yea 4 losses is NOTHING
especially when the starting pitching is doing well for the most part.
MH252525 - September 26, 2009
It's good to know
I just wish there was no Texas series staring at us
linkbruin - September 26, 2009

norcaliangelsfan - September 26, 2009
Agree
I don’t know what else he could do tonight. He switched up the offense and they scored a crap-ton of runs. Every pitcher was ass. I don’t know if taking any of them out earlier — only to be replaced by someone else who was pitching like ass — would have made any difference.
Love me some Soth.
Brody - September 26, 2009
Team performance aside
vlad looks like garbage.
does scioscia have the balls to move him?
is tori playing hurt?
does scioscia have the balls to move him or pine him?
that’s what bothers me … until the rangers are 1 behind
Quinlan's Goofy Swing - September 26, 2009
Lackey has been horrible as well.
Even in his last win.
Got no confidence as our number 1 against the bosux. id go with weaver or kaz.
clover_black - September 26, 2009
kaz would be my #1
scioscia doesnt have the balls to do it though.
he went with lackey last year too, as he scuffled through september
Quinlan's Goofy Swing - September 26, 2009
this is true.
Sosh is scared to ruffle feathers and is too loyal to guys.
This can be chalked up to him either being stupid or an inability to get rattled.
clover_black - September 26, 2009
Even after his bad outing.
I’d put Weaver #1 followed by Lackey, Kazmir, Saunders. I want Kazmir starting in Boston.
Jay Cal - September 26, 2009
Yes Yes
I want Kaz and Saundo in Boston
linkbruin - September 26, 2009
but if you start Kaz in game 1 he can pitch twice
MH252525 - September 26, 2009
If the Yanks take the short schedule
linkbruin - September 26, 2009
On the FOX Saturday game of the week
it was announced that Girardi was heavily leaning towards choosing the long schedule.
blast21dave - September 26, 2009
No reason to choose the short one
Take the day off
linkbruin - September 26, 2009
Kaz pitches well there
And Saunders pitches better in Boston than Lackey or Weaver. Get Weaver and Lackey’s best stuff at home, game 3 to cinch it with Kazmir.
Jay Cal - September 26, 2009
i'd rather kaz pitch twice that series
than lackey or weaver.
Quinlan's Goofy Swing - September 26, 2009
yea we have 3 of our best OBP guys right now
Figgy, Bobby and HK batting in front of some of our hitters who are slumping or just plain bad in Torii, Vlad and Mathis. Not a good combo.

Quinlan's Goofy Swing - September 26, 2009

linkbruin - September 26, 2009

salmonforever - September 26, 2009

I know we are going to clinch...
but that still doesnt sound very comforting.

shiftyeyedgoat - September 26, 2009
winning 2 games against a texas team that can positively sweep us

Well, if we lost every game from here on out
The Rangers would STILL have to win more than 4 games.
shiftyeyedgoat - September 26, 2009

this would be 10x more tense than it is right now
