Final Score in Arlington: Angels 2, Rangers 3

A great pitching performance by Jered Weaver was wasted as the Angels bats were caught napping deep in the heart of Texas. Despite losing 3-2, the Angels still hold a commanding lead in their division and had the tying run at 3rd and the winning run at 2nd with the bases loaded and 1 out when Howie Kendrick grounded into a game-ending double play.
The hope that Mike Napoli has broken out of his month-long slump was given reason when the Angels catcher hit a 2-out solo HR in the top of the 5th inning to give the Angels a short-lived lead.

Howie
We weren’t surely expecting him to come through again, were we? I was shocked when he got that hit against the sox, because although I like the guy, HK is the least clutch guy on the team…

What about Figgy?
The booted play that scored a run and nothing on offense.
Brody - September 19, 2009
Figgins deserves the groans...
…for his offense. But on defense, most 3b folk wouldn’t even have laid a glove on that ball, let alone converted it into an out. It’s his range that makes that play look fieldable in the first place. There’s a reason the Arlington scorer didn’t rate that an error. Izturis’ misplay earlier in the game however…

Hard to pick just one
HK may have stunk it up with that game ending GIDP, but Chupa, KMO & Figgy’s bats were all AWOL tonight.

What a fluky game
The score is about 5-1 by my count if the Rangers’ unbelievably good luck on balls in play doesn’t come through for them again. Whatever. All this means is some more mumbles of “resiliency” from the media before they get buried by the A’s next week.

It was an interesting game to watch
Pretty good pitching by two starters with neither throwing their best game, good relief, and little offense either way. One of those rare games where defense was the difference, and a minimal difference at that.

what a horrendous day
Halos lose and my Trojans lose…..and our future halo prospect (locker) looked good.

Two rather gutless performances, actually.
