John Lackey Shut Out is a Sweep Victory

Final Score in Anaheim: Angels 3, Mariners 0

On the heels of a complete game shutout by John Lackey, the Angels swept the Seattle Mariners and extended their division lead to 5 games over the Texas Rangers, reduced their magic number to 19 and look forward to a weekend at home with Ozzie Guillen's White Flag - err, Sox.

Star-divide

Tonight's highlights are short and sweet:

Lackey :CG, 0 R, 7 K, 1 BB, 5 H, 1 HBP

Torii Hunter 2-Run Homer

Howie Kendrick 3 for 3 scoring a late insurance run

Erick Aybar driving in the t3rd run of the night late with a 2-out double down the line.

Lackey told Jose Mota in the postgame interview that he did nothing special in his bullpen warm up, that his arm strength is great since a Spring training strain kept him for the first two months of the season, and that he feels great and is back to normal. With his eyes on the postseason the ace of the Angels staff said, "It's time to roll." But the postgame show made sure to run the Scioscia propaganda machine with a feature on the great Jeff Mathis calling the game. Ludicrous behavior on a night that was all Lackey.

In sweeping the Mariners the Angels only allowed runs on solo homers for the whole series. Monday saw Matt Palmer get his 10th win of the season in relief, Tuesday's victory was Jered Weaver's win was his 15th and Lackey's gem was his 10th win of 2009.

WOOOOOOOOO!!!

Lackey is alive!!11

This is just not fair to Torii. You HAVE to give it to the guy with the CGSHO.
Lackey

Although I want to vote for Howie because I was so happy just to see him in the lineup.

That reminds me

We need to find a picture of one of those old Gerald Ford WIN (Whip Inflation Now, for you chicks and chiclets) buttons, if someone hasn’t already.

Here it is

That was easy
I know

I decided to light a candle rather than curse the darkness. I’m finally learning how to negotiate the intertubes.

Congrats on negotiating the intertubes.

I was actually commenting on how much it looked like the staples button. You know “That was easy.” I didn’t read your original post which is why I went with that, but either way, well done.

And I didn't get your reference, either

but I thought it was funny anyway, because right after I made my first post I saw how lame I was being, as if I couldn’t do it my own self, and when I had it done three minutes later I said “that was easy” to myself.

those creepy fingernails again
Lackey.

I’m gonna miss him next year.

(please prove me wrong).

Lackey beating up on Seattle is like beating up on the guy you've had chained up in your Lebanese basement for 7 years.

What? Not an appropriate analogy? I apologize to you computer people who don’t get it.

Seriously, someone with Gif powers needs to gif the Beltre X-Mo cam.

That was Hilarious.

Lackey is Thunderous

This is when he is at his best, besides the playoffs. he is our ace and we need to lock him up for the future, Lackey is so Thunderous!!!

Where's the "Jeff Mathis" option in the Panther of the Game vote?

The CERA king deserves some love on this board.

:) (joke)

Damn... beat me to it.

Since the postgame guys obviously thought he was Panther.

Keep the train rollin' Big John

all the way to the pennant!

How about Ryan Rowland Smith as a fifth starter for the Angels in 2010?

He is only signed for this year with the Mariners, pitched a pretty good game against the Angels and in his last few starts, plus he is a friend of the Thompsons so he would fit right in here.

Funny

The M’s are saying that they want Rich Thompson because he would fit in at Seattle.
