Final Score on the South Side of Chicago: Angels 2, Bad Bad Ozzie Guillen: 6
The White Sox had three homeruns and the Angels grounded into three double plays. End of necessary information about this game.

The Angels might have walked into Comiskular Park on Wednesday, but they crawled out, losing a Sean O'Sullivan start for the first time this season as well as surrendering the power in their bats in the face of adequate pitching. After two games of facing the White Sox in Chicago, Mike Scioscia can confidently call up Ron Gardenhire and say "Wow, you really have atrocious pitching..."
What can you do but tip your cap to some veterans who waited for a meaty pitch or two to do their damage. What is Sean-O supposed to do except rhetorically say "Hello, I am 21, Thome and Konerko have been playing this game longer than I have been alive and ... well ... her ya go bro, swing away..."
Meanwhile Gavin Floyd made sure the Angel bats produced pathetic squibbers with men on to yield three double plays and then humiliated Bobby Abreu's bat-on-the-shoulders strategy late in the game with men on base and the chance to get back into the game had arisen.
Well Wednesday bout an hour ago
Scioscia shootin' dice
And at the edge of the bar
Sat a girl named Victory
And ooh that girl looked nice
Well he cast his eyes upon her
And the trouble soon began
And MIke Scioscia learned a lesson
'bout messin with the wife of Ozzie Guillen

Hmmm....bats fall asleep...
today is made sense. Floyd looked good. Yesterday, I dunno what the hell our problem was…
Dont blame SOS…he did alright.
BryanHarvey'sMoustache - August 5, 2009
Floyd had some nasty nasty pitches tonight.
SOS was not bad at all.
Funke5ive - August 5, 2009
I missed most of the game
Can anyone provide me with a run-down of Vladdy’s at-bats? Did he shit himself w/ RISP? Is he batting well enough to be the clean up guy? I hope he isn’t ruining our mojo
blochead - August 5, 2009
it wasn't vladdy
it was everyone. Pink Floyd out up THE WALL on the mound tonight.
Rev Halofan - August 5, 2009
Please Angel's offense Don't Leave Me Now.
blochead - August 5, 2009
My rendition of the Wall
We don’t need no stupid blue jay
We don’t need no new relief
Not giving up on the postseason
Angels you are still the best to me
Hey Angels beat them stupid Sox
All in all we’ll win with what we got
All in all we’ll win with what we got
princeton11loveshalos - August 5, 2009
beautiful
hittheg - August 6, 2009
Everyone has completely lost all momentum at the plate
Vlad swinging at every first pitch, every at bat, and making outs most of the time has taken any wind out of the sails.
DFA Vlad.
PhiSlamma - August 5, 2009
You blamin' me????
red floyd - August 5, 2009
nope
there is no dark side of the moon. it is all dark…
Rev Halofan - August 5, 2009
Don't give me that do-goody-good bull. . .

rspencer - August 6, 2009
Vlad
Is just killing this lineup. I love the guy but man he’s killing our mojo!!
angelskid2210 - August 5, 2009 via mobile
I wonder what our record w/o Vlad in the lineup is?
Is there anyway to check that? I know its not entirely his fault, but I’m looking for a scapegoat. Like PhiSlamma said The man swings at anything and everything regardless of the situation and these days more often than not he is making those rally killing outs.
blochead - August 5, 2009
the angels are 20-22
with Vladdy in the line up
just i read that in the preview on Yahoo sports
princeton11loveshalos - August 5, 2009
It's gross.
I understand you’re paying him a ton of
money but when does it come down to winning. Vlad just isn’t the same as he is putting this lineup in some crappy mentality. Hopefully Soth figures it out soon.
angelskid2210 - August 5, 2009 via mobile
he should be willing to swallow his pride and bat 7th, he is not a clean up hitter at this point
tanana40 - August 5, 2009
True, but to be fair
He did make good contact tonight.
Funke5ive - August 5, 2009
i think vlad should be in the lineup but I agree...
he should bat 5th or 6th. 7th? I dunno about that…he really shouldnt be picking up Abreu though. That is ridiculous.
BryanHarvey'sMoustache - August 6, 2009
so lets see...If I did my maths right
The Angels are 43-20 without Vlad playing, but 2 games under .500 with him batting 3 or 4 hmmm interesting
blochead - August 5, 2009
you know if he twisted his knee running the bases tomorrow
I wouldn’t be THAT upset ;)
blochead - August 5, 2009
I understand frustration but this post is just overboard, bloc.
Downing Rules - August 5, 2009
i kid i kid :);):(
see what i did there
blochead - August 5, 2009
ah, the smily faces. My bad. ;)
Downing Rules - August 5, 2009
vlad is a liability right now. he’s been piss poor all year. he ain’t the vlad of years past and it is certainly showing. that being said, how nice of fuentes to instill confidence by giving up another homer. good thing it wasn’t a save situation.
daze - August 5, 2009
Windbag was my blame of the game.
Downing Rules - August 5, 2009
Breaking developments:
Adam Kennedy hit a 2-run bomb to put Oakland up 7 – 5 over the Rangers. woo hoo!
Tim Brown has a front-page story on Bobby Abreu at Yahoo sports.
Jeff Passan, also at yahoo sports has a feature that shows Jarrod Washburn as having the best fastball in the league … it is a feature that covers the baseball web sensation, Fangraphs. Take that whoever wrote that Fanpost about JWash.
Downing Rules - August 5, 2009
Go Oakland
7-5 Top 9. Hold on Oak Town.
haloak - August 5, 2009
Yikes...Ziegler in for a 6-out save.
Downing Rules - August 5, 2009
Whew...
so in spite of that turd of a game by our guys tonight, they didn’t lose any ground.
Downing Rules - August 5, 2009
A's win
Still 4.5 UP
haloak - August 5, 2009
A world without Vlad taking steroids is a world I don't want to live in.
clover_black - August 5, 2009
how about botg...
sosh
tonights lineup looked awful
vlad at 4?
aybar in front of napoli?
i personally like abreu as the #2 and if i could make the lineup it would be:
figgy
abreu
kendry
rivera (possibly flip him and kendry)
napoli
vlad
aybar
izzy
gmj
sctrojan13 - August 5, 2009
Sox fan here, just wanted to say hello
You guys are like the Twins on speed and ‘roids. Just a monster lineup all around that gets on base and can run. Not a ton of power but who needs power when you’ve got so many guys that can get on and run.
I really wanted the Sox to sign Bobby this offseason, too bad it didn’t happen.
You ran into a a club that’s playing fairly well right now, and on the road that’s tough to beat.
In general though I like following the Angels success because along with the Sox you’re the team PECOTA can’t figure out. So congrats on that.
I hope we sweep you tomorrow and then you beat up on the Tigers, Twins, Yankees and Sawx, in that order.
Cya in the playoffs maybe.
madvillian - August 5, 2009
Nice Post...
The Angels and White Sox have a series here in Anaheim, 9/11, 9/12 and 9/13. So, I’ll let you have that sweep tomorrow if you promise me a returned favor in September. Deal? Good.
Downing Rules - August 5, 2009
Angels, Sox and Indians.

post again tommorrow and in September
hittheg - August 6, 2009
You know how everyone has a subject or two that is so near to their hearts
that they are incapable of arguing about it rationally? I think Vlad is one of mine. I’ve gotta stop reading this post-game threads when we lose. Just bums me out.
OntariGro - August 5, 2009
+1 bro
Vlad is just about my favorite player of all time and I cannot even turn the reason button on against calls for his head…
Rev Halofan - August 5, 2009
Vlad
He was starting to heat up before he got hurt this last time. I don’t think he is done by any means.
haloak - August 5, 2009
i dont know if anyone thinks he is done
i just think most people including myself think he is done being the vlad we have come to love over the past few years
sctrojan13 - August 5, 2009
I though getting his knees fixed would fix everything.
I hope he comes back next season.
TheTypingFiend - August 5, 2009
i dont
sctrojan13 - August 5, 2009
I do, but at $5M per year for only two years, max.
Downing Rules - August 6, 2009
thought?
Clean it up!
haloak - August 6, 2009
Just bat Vlad 7th
All is well
Batting him cleanup in a lineup that is significantly better without him is so outlandish it hurts my brain
PhiSlamma - August 5, 2009
For WiHaloFan
For this game or tomorrows game — you need to do “Bad, Bad, Leroy Brown”.
red floyd - August 5, 2009
I like Vlad...
when he’s NOT batting clean-up. When he was out, that’s when the pieces finally fell into place for the offense. Scioscia should know better than to try to force things back to the way they were before. Man I hope they don’t wind up getting swept as a result. I know Abreu won’t be too happy about that, lol.
>;-)
rosinbag42 - August 6, 2009
What have you done for me lately?
Earn your spot in the line-up. I’m sure it’s Scoscia not Vlad.
hittheg - August 6, 2009
if i may reply to my own post
Vlad is a special player.
He’s already earned it.
Shut-up dumbass.
Please pardon my schitzofrenia,
and my poor spelling abilities.
hittheg - August 6, 2009
Not this year he hasn't
Look at the stats and get off the crack
Just because you post like this
Does not save you from smack
Learn how to post normally
And how a team works
Because even if you post in rhyme
You are still wrong and must till lurk.
PhiSlamma - August 6, 2009
Your not too smart
But that’s okay
Cause Vlad will Rock
And you will pay
By eating crow
Day after day
