Halos Heaven

White Sox Snap Angel Win Streak with Walkoff Stroke

Final Score in Chicago: White Sox 5, Angels 4...

I cannot say it is one of the ones that we should have won. It was one of those "games of inches" about which baseball aficionados drool when it is there team that wins. Chicago's Jose Contreras was wilder than a Wildebeast but the Angels found it difficult to cash in on all the gift runs he laid out under the Windy City Summer Christmas tree decorated with ample bases on balls.

Star-divide

John Lackey was the hard luck pitcher but he could have been a little sharper himself. The Angel bats might have come alive if Country Joe West had kept the strike zone consistent, but let's face it, there was a bit of a fizzle with the team tonight. Obviously, some of them found a wild party late last night and into early this morning in the Second City and they were a little worn around the edges... the sizzle was absent, and hopefully is not gone. When your bottom two batters are Gary Matthews and Jeff Mathis, you are throwing one and a half sheets to the wind before you pick up a bat, anyway...

bad pitch by Jepsen

but our offense went all pathetic, too.

hopefully they come back tomorrow for O’Sully

horrible offense
defense was crap to.......

jet lag perhaps I dunno

Means nothing

Next two games will tell the tale. Can the Halos beat the Sox in Chicago. They are hot, like the Angels. Can the Halos win a close game?

Tonight was only a bump in the road

Jepsen: Like kerosene to campfire

game.over.

I blame Barack Obama
It is his birthday, after all.
How Dare You !!!!

Blasphemy !!!

one game...

we will live

update: Tex 0 -OAK 3

Oak with the bases juiced 1 out
bot 4

Beaten by the Power of Scott Podsednik, the Reggie Willits of the Midwest.

overall the offense wasn’t what we’ve been seeing for the past few weeks. if i had to lay blame, i blame vlad. he looks like his legs are made of porcelain every time he runs the bases.

You're blaming Vlad?

Dude, Get the hell out of here!

you’ve convinced me. i’m leaving forever. boo hoo

Vlad...........

if you got hurt again……it might not be so bad.

yeah because going 1-3 with a BB and 1 K is really all that bad...?

If Torii had that line in his game back I doubt he would get much complaints.

yeah but scoring 9 runs a game without him..........

compared to 4 with him……..

Seems a little bad.

Right cause it's not like the twins held us to 1 run a week and a half ago. -_-;
you cant just look at his line

1st ab:leading off the 2nd inning, a chance to get something started in front of rivera and morales (who had bad games but if they had gotten off to a better start, who knows what could have happened)

2nd ab:walks and chases contreras, both positives, but a hit there to score bobby would have been huge and as the #4 guy i wanna see hits and driving in runs, not too many walks

3rd ab: strikes out with maice on 2nd, killing any chance there again to get something going

4th ab:good single with 1 out to get something started in the 8th but to no avail

overall he was bad, but a reasonable day from k-mo or rivera would have made him look better

This comment is absurd.

Have some respect is all.

It's my fault. Better that no one get the 5 points than me jinx Lackey like that.
GUILTY OF JINXING in the first degree!
You are so on my bad side.

;)

Ha! Yeah, I'll take the blame.

Other people voted for Dye, but I had to go and look at their roster and I saw that name: Beckham.

u cant ever

vote for the other team to hit the first hr or to win in the pregame picks

who cares about the points, put the halos first!!

Don't tell other people

HOW to play the game.

What if I tell you to put the Angels first and renounce Tommy Trojan … I won’t, but that is what your bullshit calls for conformity are sounding like here.

wow chill man

its a freaking joke jackass

oh

i took you too damn seriously. sorry there.

jackass?

ef that

oh…i took you too damn seriously. sorry there.
what happen to the mosh pit, Rev?
crucify him

hehe. I kid I kid

Wow. you called Rev a jackass and lived.

I mistook your tone, too. Next time try giving us a clue, like the other guys did when they were kidding me.

little bitty smiley faces help

;) :) :(

Otherwise we are tone deaf here in da internetz.

That's so true.

You guys are starting to know me a bit so you might be able to tell when I’m kidding, but not everyone knows me that well.

tough game, let's get them tommorow, Rangers down 3-0 to A's
Personally, I blame ESPN for giving us props.

We all know their perpetual ignorage of our real ability is fuel to the fire.

BOTG: PHYZ

Listening to him call the end of the game on the radio made me want to end it.

I hate to revisit an old topic, but he phuking sucks.

mathis

198 BA what the heck? Nice to see Napoli only get one damm AB tonight.

Do you ever have anything positive to add?
also note

that jepsen had been pitching REALLY well for the past month but with naps behind the plate he gave up the winning run, taking his first loss since april 18 (which also had naps behind the plate)

reply fail

sorry

his cera is better than napoli's

plus he throws out more runners plus the angels have a better winning percentage with him starting

cera is as bad as w-l

in stats terms

over 1 season yes

but over an extended period of time it shows which catchers are better at calling games
it hasn’t been long enough to say for sure, but it is looking like a pattern

and im tired of hearing people rip on w-l as a statistic

are there better stats?
hell yea

but it is still a good statistic, the objective of the team is to win and while it does suck for a pitcher to go 9 innings and give up 1 run to get the loss or it is lucky to give up 7 or 8 over 4 innings and take the win, the objective was met

a pitcher’s goal is to allow at least 1 run less than his opponent

a win is a win

His “Soth endorsement” is greater than Napoli’s. There. Enuff said. Everyone from pitchers to manager agree that they are comfortable with Mathis behind the dish. There’s no doubting it. It has been said everywhere it can without blatantly bashing Napoli. They cannot come out and say “I like throwing to Jeff.” It would not be cool to Mike Naps. However, there are enough “between the lines” written to figure this out.

Sorry to say it, but to not see it is blindness on your part.

Ha! Poor Phyz still get's no respect.

I heard his wife kicks his ass when he gets home.

(joke)

That's because he's always going on about how great the other guys' wives are.
Best of Luck

Jon Wilhite

BOTG=Figgi

That was a given out by Thome which allowed the Sox to rally and thus hurt Big John; we’re only mortals.

Yes

Figgy needs to field that there

Yup,

But we made up for it. We made it work. Everybody did their job. Except Jepsen

I do not blame Vlad

I blame Soth for putting Vlad in the 4 hole and putting Mathis in. Naps needs to play everyday and he does great when he is. Now that Vlad is back Naps goes back to splitting time and it is pointless. Mathis is nothing more than a backup catcher yet he plays starters innings…terrible.

im with you

about vlad and sosh putting him too high in the lineup

When I saw the Lineup.......I thought, "Scioscia, I know we all love Vlad and all but SERIOUSLY?

Batting him 4th on his 1st day back from the DL when the Abreu, Rivera, Morales, Napoli combo has been ON FIRE, why mess with that chemical Reaction? Bat him 7th and if he does good for a few days move him back to where he belongs!

well good news

Oakland 6-0 over texas

Woooooo! No harm no foul!
that's all we can ask for

let’s get it done tomorrow.

Figgins really pissed me off

I don’t know. I mean it was early in the game, but for some reason I took it way harder than usually when Figgy makes an error. I feel like he could have made the play twice. Maybe he’s not a BOTG because his three walks are honestly great. But that play with the error…

Can't win 'em all

Go Oakland!

We Will Win With What We Got
Being 22 games over .500...

a loss like this was to be expected. Hopefully, the club will play a much cleaner game this time out with Sully taking the mound (he will need all the fielding help he can get with his stuff). GO HALOS!!!

Btw, Jepsen should really trust his fastball more in those situations like the one in the bottom of the 9th last night. Last time I checked, it was still his No. 1 offering and would rather have him lose on his best pitch as opposed to his worst (slider)…

W6G, I believe in… however, I cannot help thinking “It sure would have been nice to have Bell pitching last night.” (Yes, I know … the asking price was too much!)

As for Vladdy … he had a decent night at the plate at least in the box score. I didn’t see his AB’s at all, but I would think it wasn’t terrible.
