It's All-Opinions day - Angels Unplugged - Los Angeles Times
So the Angels continue to sit there and do nothing, and the Boston Red Sox, with an already vastly superior bullpen, add Billy Wagner and his 96 mph fastball. Then, to help their rotation, they have Paul Byrd in the minors, getting ready for a September call up . . . The moral: Some teams keep trying to get better. Others don't . . .

Angels had interest in Wagner - angelsbaseball.com:
"I think what is more important is what our starting pitching does. If our starting pitching gets us deeper into games, we can set up the bullpen in a different way."

No... but it would be nice, if he did make it because he would dawn the halo cap.
Hahaha

“A giant crane is currently being used to assist workers who are applying a fresh coat of red paint to the 230-foot-high structure. The last paint job had faded to a dark shade of pink.
"

I knew it!

I knew it was getting a paint job

I see the crane everytime i take the amtrak to work. My pop and I thought people were painting it

I could never understand...

why they didn’t just paint it already and/or fix the burnt out LED lights. it’s been that way for a few years now. I was starting to cringe every time I drove by or rode my bike past it on the river bike path.

The color of that thing was starting to look like the shade of this comment box. at least it wasn’t periwinkle. or eggplant.

Those would be some BIG LED’s…

This is old technology. You know, filaments and tubes? Parts were becoming scarce, from what I read.

oh I see

Thanks.

I have stared at that thing from ground level and they sure looked like big LEDs from that vantage point. I don’t really know the age of the “halo” lighting system, only that the “A” was from the “Big A” scoreboard.

I did hear Arte on the radio this year say they wanted to get a “halo with lights that work” or something very close to that effect. though I couldn’t necessarily decipher exactly what that meant, or why it wouldn’t be easy to just refurbish the old one.

Obsolescence is a bitch when working with an electronic beast made in the 1960’s! ;)

I cannot wait to see the finished product. Moreno does things right, from what I have seen around the field.

true true

on that note, I just want to know who pushes the button and how long it usually takes for them to “flip the switch” when the team is on the road and gets a victory. has anyone ever seen it come on that would know??

I drove by it last week during a roadie literally 2 minutes after a game ended and Rory declared it Just Another Halo Victory. it was not yet lit.

I live very close so I will have to test it one of these days with a stopwatch… LOL

I think Perci is an Angel HOFer

But not a MLB HOFer. If he’d been great with the Tigers or Cards then yeah. Only one decent year with the Rays. So only his Angel career was great. IMO.

I was back in So Cal earlier this year...

and I stopped by the Big A. Took a photo in front of it. I’m glad its getting a makeover, it was looking pretty dated….

So, no chance for the Angels today?

The Angels are the only team in the majors that has yet to have a four-game losing streak this season. They have not been swept at home this season.

It sounds like all of this is coming to an end around here today.

Angels will score 25 runs and win by 3.

That is how today will go.

Oh ye of little faith.
Hindsight is surely 20/20

I was reserved to losing today, simply because so many factors were against Joe. But he came through. Good news.

I didn't rule out the possibility of a win for him today, and I hoped he would win,

which are two separate things.

Truth.

You are a better fanatic than I am. Good for you! ;)

Well, I was kind of worried about his NEXT outing, not this one so much.

I don’t know if that makes any sense.

Just don’t rule out the possibility of a win, like I had. We’ll be in big trouble then! ;)

Heh. I don't. I am a bit of a worrier, though.
I voted Yes because I didnt have the heart to vote no.

He probably just misses it. If he would of stayed healthy in Detroit he would have had 400 saves, that may have been enough.
