Final Score in Los Angeles of Anaheim: Tigers 10, Angels 7
Jered Weaver was rocked early and then, gassed, handed a small deficit over to a bullpen that imploded. But a valiant comeback highlighted by Bobby Abreu's 3-Run Homer managed to give the folks their money's worth - Despite trailing 10-1 at one point, the Angels brought the tying run to the plate in the 8th inning. The Angels lead the American League West by 5 Games.

The Angels look tired, road weary, not used to being back in their beds yet, a few balls on the warning track might ordinarily have gone over the wall if there had just been a nap or two along the way the past couple of busy days. But it looked terrible at one time and at least Detroit has been forced to use a lot of its bullpen (along with their Ace Justin Verlander) heading into games Tuesday and Wednesday.

BOTG: Johnny Rivers...
0 for 5 with the big bust of an out with Vlad on 2nd and Torii on 3rd in the 8th. FAIL-JUAN.
BryanHarvey'sMoustache - August 24, 2009
yeah i agree with this.......
I was gonna vote for Dondo regardless though………4ER in 2/3rds of an inning is gruesome.
norcaliangelsfan - August 24, 2009
Can I nominate Juan Rivera
0-5 6 LOB
princeton11loveshalos - August 24, 2009
Juan should be up there
but its all Arredondo.
clover_black - August 24, 2009
he is there now
Rev Halofan - August 24, 2009
Arredondo...
Way to make Bell and O’Sullivan look like Cy Young award winners.
Teixeira Who? - August 24, 2009
So when does Saundo come back?
moosemastr - August 24, 2009
wed
clover_black - August 24, 2009
Goddamnit
Irrelevant. Wasn’t the starting rotation’s fault today.
moosemastr - August 24, 2009
The box score begs to disagree
Weaver took the loss.
scareduck - August 24, 2009
Dondo blew it open to put it out of reach, though, didn't he?
Clutch - August 25, 2009
A loss is a loss
and in this case deservedly so. Dondo doesn’t go into the game with an Angels lead.
scareduck - August 25, 2009
weaver kept us in the game
the bullpen blew it. If the bullpen didn’t allow as many runs as they did, weaver would have been looking at a no decision instead. Remember he left the game with 3 er before the bullpen chunked it.

2 days?
figgifig - August 24, 2009
man the thread over at the Giants blog is good for a laugh
if you want to feel better.
norcaliangelsfan - August 24, 2009
Why was D.O. pulled in favor of Arredondo?
Bonehead move by Sosh.
HALO N BRIMSTONE - August 24, 2009
agreed.
Oliver gives up 1 single and gets yanked so Arredondo can give up a 2-run HR, a double, and a single.
Neo8234 - August 24, 2009
he brought Dondo in to face 3 righties
Fred Fredrix - August 25, 2009
F' that, the wisdom dictates that you play the hot hand
Dondo doesn’t currently fit the bill
HALO N BRIMSTONE - August 25, 2009
That would be 10-0 Rev
trailing 10-0
Neo8234 - August 24, 2009
BOTG: Mike Scioscia
for allowing Weaver the CG in his previous start. He has had one quality start following a CG this season. So the point of allowing a CG is… ego? What?
scareduck - August 24, 2009
Wanna know why Soth allowed the complete game?
It’s because he read stuff like this
halofan4life - August 25, 2009
BOTG is probably Soth
Slyintine - August 24, 2009
he at least gets a big assist
for leaving Dondo in for as long as he did
Moondoggy - August 24, 2009
How about a new slogan?
Angels baseball- “Yeah we suck, but we suck less than you…”
3rd Echelon - August 24, 2009 via mobile
I like it
JoseGuillenSux - August 24, 2009
'Cept the Angels don't suck at all.
Outta here with that nonsense.

When does being in first place and 5 up over the next team qualify as suck? Dumb comment
semperfi1645 - August 25, 2009
Dude. The word is "levity"
Look it up in the dictionary when you get a chance.
3rd Echelon - August 25, 2009
Your levity was expressed with such brevity that we all missed it.
Downing Rules - August 25, 2009
Exactly.
I’d like to take credit for the slogan above, but I can’t. In early 2000 I started working for a web hosting company. This was an emerging industry and all of the “technology wrinkles” were still being worked out. It was a pretty competitive business too with customers spending millions (dot-com boom)
Anyway, I remember attending an annual share-holders meeting with the press, investors, customers, etc.
Our CEO was taking questions after the presentation and an angry customer actually got up and told our CEO that our company sucked. The room went silent and without missing a beat our CEO replied “yeah I know we suck, but we suck less than anybody else.” The room erupted in laughter. Most likely because they knew it was true.
From that point on, it became our unofficial slogan and we ended up becoming the dominant company in that industry. True story.
3rd Echelon - August 25, 2009
With everything you do, ask yourself this question:
“Is this good for the company?” Slogan courtesy of Bill Lumbergh in Office Space.
Downing Rules - August 26, 2009
Observations:
Granderson is hialarious, dancing to “Jump Around” and looking up at the crowds, giving thumbs up to the guys that were heckling him.
And, Jose Arredondo is incredibly fast. He wasn’t even trying to run. Honestly, he should be a Pinch Runner.
Figgi4life - August 25, 2009 via mobile
Weaver pitched a good game why is he on there
Vladd#27 - August 25, 2009
oh just kidding
i thougt he gave up 3 ER over 5.2 IP i forgot about the ones he left on for Arredondo to allow to score
Vladd#27 - August 25, 2009
This game was fun to watch but it sucked.
44FAN - August 25, 2009
Makes little sense.....
The prospects that are untouchable in trade (i.e. Wood and SRod) are held hostage in SLC, while the major league club has significant holes in it’s pitching.
mustard_man - August 25, 2009
That's the beauty of baseball
Remember last time Weaver sucked against Baltimore? Next day Lackey came in and shut it down.
Let’s hope for the same tonight.
Freddyd - August 25, 2009
Tigers suck on the road
They could have a wider gap if not for their 26-38 mark on the road, ranking only better than last-place teams Kansas City (22-37) and Baltimore (21-43) in the AL.
Let’s win the next two starting tonight with Lackey
Freddyd - August 25, 2009
Did anyone notice...
that a pitcher name LYON came in to pitch for the TIGERS? All we needed were the bears and we could have staged a Wizard of Oz scene.
Downing Rules - August 25, 2009
