Week 20 Results!

First a correction. Game 112 (a 4 pointer!) had a mistake. The correct answer was Darren Oliver and not Jason Bulger. So that has been fixed (and as a result the week 19 results. Find them here:

I should get points for game 112 also. I put my answer as D. Oliver, which is how the name appears in the box score. That is very clearly Darren Oliver.

Wasn't that one of the ones where you were required to spell out the first and last names,

and to spell them correctly? You might just be out of luck.

Actually

You were supposed to type the name as it appears in the box score. Look at any box score and you will see the names as first initial and last name, hence Darren Oliver would appear in a box score as D. Oliver.

Also, The Rev had mentioned spirit of the law vs. letter of the law.

While this issue has ALREADY been addressed….

if you REALLY want to get anal. Looking at the box score from mlb.com it only says “Oliver”
And if you click the name as found in the box score, you can indeed see it says “Darren Oliver”

Nowhere do i see “D. Oliver”
Now before turs12 asks for his points, the question also asked to write out the first and last name. There’s clearly no first name so that’s no good.

So the only acceptable answer would be “Darren Oliver”

Also, seeing as you were one of the last ones to enter your picks, you are either
(1) Being a smartass
(2) Not checking the provided link to ensure your picks have been made correctly (which, in this case, was not done)

Feel free to appeal to the Rev, but to me, this issue is closed. Sorry.

Not that I expect you to give me the points

but…

I know what I typed in the box for the Google Doc. I typed D. Oliver. If you look at the box scores on ESPN, Yahoo, and Fox Sports, they all show the players name D Oliver. If you look at MLB.com is shows as Oliver, and if you go to CBS Sportsline it shows as Darren Oliver

I’m not sure what you mean when you say that I was one of the last ones to get my picks in. What does that have to do with anything regarding this.

If you reeally really want to get ANAL about it, the couple of people who typed the name is as darren oliver should not get the points, as names are capitalized. But I don’t want anyone to lose points.

The Rev mentioned in a previous post about Spirit of the Law vs. Letter of the Law. We are here to have fun, and I feel that it is quite clear who my pick was for that game

I just wanted to get that off my chest. No hard feelings, I wasn’t trying to be a smart ass, I just feel that I should have gotten the points. If you change your mind, Great, if not, life goes on.
