Final Score in Cleveland: Angels: 3, Indians 0

Save for a clutch Howie Kendrick single that scored 2 baserunners, it was all Jered Weaver Wednesday night in Cleveland. The budding Angels ace scattered 7 hits and a walk while striking out 3 for his 2nd career shutout. It was the 4th complete game of his career, all of which have come this season. Weaver threw 116 pitches and a gassed Angels bullpen got a night off - not until the 9th inning did a reliever begin warming up ... and he was not needed.
Catcher Mike Napoli helped Jered forget about his start last Friday in Baltimore, easily the worst of his career. Having thrown less than 50 pitches might have helped Weaver's stamina as he had an effortless, uneventful 1-2-3 1st inning, which has historically been his most problematic inning.
Meanwhile Cleveland Lefty Jeremy Sowers had a no hitter going into the 5th inning, but a walk to Mike Napoli led to a ringing Kendry Morales double. Batting from the right side, Morales belted one off the left field wall to make it 2nd and 3rd with nobody out. Howie Kendrick followed with a garden variety single up the middle to plate both runners. An Erick Aybar Bunt Single and a Chone Figgins sacrifice bunt paved the way for a Bobby Abreu groundout to score the 3rd Angel run. A Torii Hunter single in the 6th would be the only other hit in the game for the Halos.

I am laughing my ass off at all of you people!
44FAN - August 19, 2009
Love this thread!
you’ve got three hot little babes chillin’ in the back of an SUV and some posters here are only concerned with: 1) who’s wearing their seat belt & 2) what’s sitting in their cupholder! Not exactly real hard to spot who are the married dudes here that have young daughters!
Quad Fin Rider - August 20, 2009
my girlfriend
reads this blog. there are ice cubes in that cup. and the two blondes have dark roots, fake tans and buck teeth.
How is that for training?
Rev Halofan - August 20, 2009
Buck toothed women with dark roots are awesome!
Didn’t you also grow up drooling over Lauren Hutton? Not to mention that nowaday’s Anna Paquin of True Blood ain’t bad either! Plus women love guys that find imperfections sexy — it’s that whole Wabi-Sabi thing (I should add that since my g/f probably reads whatever I write here too, but will never admit it).
Quad Fin Rider - August 20, 2009
I thought Lauren Hutton had.......
Gap tooth. And yeah, married with young daughter, good call.

It helps that Aybar is now better than OC ever was for us though.
Zu Long - August 19, 2009
At current rate of progress, that will certainly be true soon enough.
I love me my OC something serious, but I gotta admit that Aybar has made a huge leap forward the past couple of months on BOTH sides of the game.

He had a huge hit and we need some consistency from him. Weave was awesome but he did what was expected of him and his role.

S'okay, I'd have felt bad if HK got no votes at all.

6.5 Games up!
Rangers lose… Go Twins!
WillGoAngels27 - August 19, 2009
I luv them twinkies today
Talk about choking. Texas had the last 10 batters retired in order, and only mustered a single, by newly acquired backstop Pudge Rod, and a walk since the Twin City Bullies took charge of this game in the top o’the sixth.
eyespy - August 19, 2009
According to coolstandings.com
Our chances to win the West are now at: 90.4%
overall playoff chances are at:95.0%
90.4% is the highest mark by any division leader.

Correction: Fuentes was warming up in the 9th...
Jered did look a bit ticked off after the double in the 9th but slammed his own dang door; thanks anyway, Fuentesauraus!
Downing Rules - August 19, 2009
fixed that missed it
THANKS – just saw this on the fsn rebroadcast.
Rev Halofan - August 19, 2009
Stop the Fuentes hating!
If we are going to win the World Series we are going to need him. He has the most saves in baseball (tied with the best closer of all time Rivera). I’d rather have Fuentes then Krod at this point. Keep the Faith!
haloak - August 19, 2009
