Trevor Bell First Major League Victory is Angels 72nd

Final Score in Cleveland: Angels 5, Indians 4

In the words of the bassist from the band Spinal Tap, HELLO CLEVELAND! Rookie Trevor Bell pitched into the 6th inning of his 2nd major league appearance and got his 1st Big League W.

Star-divide

The Angels had a sloppy game with the bats, some long innings on the mound but a sparkling bit of infield leather helped walk the AL West leaders to the finish line as the go-ahead run lined out in the bottom of the 9th to give Brian Fuentes his 35th Save of 2009.

Middle Reliever Kevin Jepsen came into the game with a man on and nobody out in the 7th inning and got out of it only surrendering one run and then had a 1-2-3 9th inning. The inning went by so quick that for a second or two there I could have sworn it was Scot Shields.

Bell's line on the night: 5.1 IP, 2 BB, 9 H, 3 ER, 2K. For a fifth starter in the American League, not bad. For a 22-year-old kid from Southern California... pretty great.

The Angels got a run in the 1st on a double play and a run in the 2nd on an error by the Cleveland 1Bman, but there were enough baserunners for the team to score a few of them with singles. Five runs scored but only three RBIs were credited in the game, one each to Erick Aybar, Bobby Abreu and Kendry Morales, Klutch Kings on the well-timed singles tonight to be sure!

At one point in the game, every Angel in the batting order was batting .300 or better for the season. At the end ofthe game, the benchmark had been held:

Figgins - .308
Abreu - .310
Rivera - .310
Guerrero - .313
Morales - .303
Hunter - .307
Izturis - .300
Napoli - .300
Aybar - .313

All of those players besides Vladimir Guerrero have over 300 Plate Appearances, meaning one thing: We Will Win With What We Got.

Actually

It was a different caption…but nvm

Bell pretty well spoken
Maybe Vlad could be an option?

Great win. Also, Papelbon’s trying hard to blow the game in Toronto.

Gave it to the young man......

Well Deserved……..got himself outta a huge jam and ended strong. Looking forward to the future!

On pace for 100 wins, btw

WIN Carnival Freaks

The big guy second from the left, top row? I think that's one of the Texas Giants.

And another one second from the right, top row.
Hey Rev...

…that was our victory #72 (not 71).

good to win a 1-run game
In the venable words of LL Cool J:

“Rock the Bells!”

Twins came back to tie it up.....

nice

Twins just went up by two!
W49.300H

We will win with 9 .300 hitters

Could be 10 above .300

If HK keeps hitting at his current pace, he could easily join that club by early next month.

Where the hell did this kind of production come from?

Amazing. Sosh should be a top contender for Manager of the Year.

unfortunately its pretty much Girardi's to lose I think.
Soth will win it if he wins a title

no more of this one and done

They vote after the regular season ends

post season no counts

Really?

the just announce the award after the post season?

I was at an Outback Steakhouse near Victorville during that bases-loaded jam in the 7th.

All I can say is Wow. Awesome game.

this was a fun game.

Bulger still makes me nervous, but i’m becoming a HUGE believer in W6G

Bell

Really settled down and gave us a good outing. Loved the movement on his ball and his command of the strike zone over his final couple innings. I was kind of surprised, he came back after a rough start and took control. I like it a lot.
