He has become a great OBP leadoff hitter and table-setter, and he is still a very good SB guy. But he clearly has declined in speed already. Not sure whether we should bring him back or not.
I love Vlad, but he’s going to get way more money than he’s worth. If we could sign him for about $8 million a year for 2 or 3 years, that would be cool. Otherwise, pass.
So? It still demonstrates he can come through in the clutch.
In terms of small sample size, judging by one AB is just as meaningful as judging by the grand total of 70ish spaced out PA’s Willits has had this season. Since he can come through in the clutch, and this isn’t the playoffs, there is no reason to interrupt Juan’s day off when we have a 5 game lead. Keep Juan healthy, leave Reggie in.
that was 100% catchable. Willits played it AWFULLY. He was there in time, and had no idea where the wall was, and played it like it was a homer. He looked shocked when it hit the wall at catchable height.
but gave up two to one guy today. He will bounce back. He threw a ton of strikes, very few balls. He had 4 Ks and his only walk was after GMJ’s error rattled him. I think he will be great for us.
Bob Wiley: I’m divorced.
Dr. Leo Marvin: Would you like to talk about that?
Bob Wiley: There are two types of people in this world: Those who like Neil Diamond, and those who don’t. My ex-wife loves him.
Dodger stadium is playing Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin’ (which I cannot stand but okay some people dig it, whatever) late in the game before their 8th inning As, sort of a rally song, right? They’re behind late , don’t stop believin’, okay, lyrics on the jumbo board, okay fine but then I am at another Dodger game and they are comfortably ahead in the late innings and they play it at the exact same part of the game. Stooooooooopid.
This is the first TB game thread I’ve been on, since I attended game 1 and 2, yo. I’ve been yelling it at him from my bullpen cheap seats, but he hasn’t heard me.
My dad called me to let us know the Angels had the WildCard.
We were deep in the Ozarks, with Mr opiejeanne’s idiot cousin, Bob. Bob is a lot like Forest Gump, but without the charm. We were preoccupied with babysitting him, so our joy was a bit muted until we returned to California.
This bullpen makes me nervous, though. Offensively, this team can be better but has some dead spots. Seems that the 2002 version was “on” all the time, offensively.
growing up as an Angels fan in the 80's really makes you hate the dodgers....
The La times coverage was horribly biased and Jackie Autry insisted we were a small market team. Fernando mania and the multiple Dodger World Series victories didn’t help the Angels’ case for relevance either.

Brody - August 12, 2009

angelsfan777 - August 12, 2009
nope hopefully bulger will go thru the 7th and then jepsen and the dino in the 9th

I am excited

Rev Halofan - August 12, 2009
You mean
Valkyrie part II?
Brody - August 12, 2009
tom cruise is a scientologist faggot (no offense to gay people)
and brad pitt is the best actor ever
bite your lip good sir
sctrojan13 - August 12, 2009
Best actor ever?
I prefer Brad Pitt to Tom Cruise, but I don’t agree with anything else you said.

JoseGuillenSux - August 12, 2009
who catches that besides Darin Erstad in like 1998 though?
MH252525 - August 12, 2009
yeah nobody
but he looked so sloppy – bad form on top of all his other faults…
Rev Halofan - August 12, 2009
and he would have caught it from center field!
UK Halo - August 12, 2009
GMJ
has shown that he has value to the team, albeit nowhere near $10M per season. Willits has no value to this team.
Brody - August 12, 2009

GMJ or willits
JoseGuillenSux - August 12, 2009

Reggie is a disaster
KubanKowbell19 - August 12, 2009

sctrojan13 - August 12, 2009
i didn’t
Rev Halofan - August 12, 2009
i didnt literally mean everyone
but it seemed like about 75% of people picked him and i thought bulger was our 7th inning guy, did i miss something??
sctrojan13 - August 12, 2009
anyone want to let me know?
or i guess being out of the loop is fun too haha

Hopefully not.

Uh, rewatch that on Tivo, people
that was 100% catchable. Willits played it AWFULLY. He was there in time, and had no idea where the wall was, and played it like it was a homer. He looked shocked when it hit the wall at catchable height.

No love for Bell? He's in the bigs now...
and he held the 3rd highest score team to 4 ER in 5.1 IP’s. I think we’re going to be seeing a lot more of this kid.

Brody - August 12, 2009
That's an ERA of 7
I’ll cut the kid some slack and give him another start but that isn’t excellent.
Nashdiesel - August 12, 2009
He almost never gives up HRs
but gave up two to one guy today. He will bounce back. He threw a ton of strikes, very few balls. He had 4 Ks and his only walk was after GMJ’s error rattled him. I think he will be great for us.
Brody - August 12, 2009
thats not bad considering his first start
hopefully we will be seeing more of him

0-23-1
KubanKowbell19 - August 12, 2009
Nope, they can't...and I don't know why
hk47 - August 12, 2009
a few reasons
altitude, gigantic stadium (90,000), air quality
people who don’t train there are in for the ride of their lives
princeton11loveshalos - August 12, 2009
well, for what its worth- Mexico can't beat us here either
no matter the location.
Problem is, the US should beat Mexico every time they play…but it makes for a good rivalry if Mexico wins now and then
hk47 - August 12, 2009
well location plays a huge role in this case
there are no stadiums like Azteca
but i agree that the US should beat Mexico. I still love Mexico
princeton11loveshalos - August 12, 2009
why do you love Mexico, just curious?
hk47 - August 12, 2009
Mexican-American

hk47 - August 12, 2009
again ill ask
how did most people know that olly would finish the 7th
has sosh finally realized his value and slotted him as the 7th inning guy over bulger?

Here is a weird one
Dodger stadium is playing Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin’ (which I cannot stand but okay some people dig it, whatever) late in the game before their 8th inning As, sort of a rally song, right? They’re behind late , don’t stop believin’, okay, lyrics on the jumbo board, okay fine but then I am at another Dodger game and they are comfortably ahead in the late innings and they play it at the exact same part of the game. Stooooooooopid.
Rev Halofan - August 12, 2009
hahahahaha
Dodgers suck

Aybar was probably safe at third even on a good throw
it was a REALLY close play, and before the throw left Bartlett’s hand, I thought to myself that there was a good chance he’d beat it.

growing up as an Angels fan in the 80's really makes you hate the dodgers....
The La times coverage was horribly biased and Jackie Autry insisted we were a small market team. Fernando mania and the multiple Dodger World Series victories didn’t help the Angels’ case for relevance either.
