Bulger & Jepsen: Angels Relief Has Two Spellings in Extra Innings

Final Score in Minnesota: Angels 11, Twins 5

Well what do the media elites covering this team have to whine about now?

Star-divide

The Angels showed a major league resiliency in coming back from a 5-2 deficit to beat the Minnesota Twins in extra innings on Friday night. The final score of 11-5 in 11 innings belies a game that was nailbitingly close, especially considering the Angels are stuck with who they got. Well, who they got is Jason Bulger and Kevin Jepsen who provided three innings of relief without a baserunner. Jepsen was especially great, getting 3 strikeouts in 2 IP.

Bobby Abreu drove in 4 runs, Mike Napoli was 4 for 6 and nobody in the local press boo-hooed about the big bat fantasies they have been sublimating on this team for a few seasons.

But we didn't flush away the future for Heath Bell, oh dear this is terrible, all of our prospects are number ones and perfect why wouldn't Toronto take Trevor This or Trevor That or Brandondee and Brandondum for Roy Halladay? Wake up people, this is a team that stays in games and pressures its way to a close contest almost every night of the week.

Jepsen got the win. The kids are alright.

UH WOW....

nice game

voted for Jepsen, think Naps could be a nominee also
Panther: Mike Napoli
no HR

no extra innings

I dont get any love as a nominee lol.
On a night when half the lineup got it done when it mattered,

I give it to psyKo. Cause he kicked ass.

ESPN Giving us some love

Scott Van Pelt really wanted to see the extra innings highlights. They only showed Naps tie it up, though.

What else is new
the word is "some"
How about Nap as one more panther candidate?
yeah Naps gets my vote.
ADDED

duh! on my part

Btw, Breaking news: ESPN Sportscenter so biased even the sportscasters don't

understand it. They’re in the middle of the Angels game highlight, show Naps’ HR, and the announcers THINK they’re going to show some of the hilarious stuff in the 11th. Instead, roll boxscore, much to the confusion of Scott Van Pelt. Hilarious. XD

I was pretty pissed myself.
I'm just glad it's Saturday tomorrow so I can stay up and watch sportcenter for when they DO show the 9th inning.
BTW, keep an eye out for the Nats/Pirates highlights.

Especially the President’s Race.

FYI: Quentin flied out to center.
PsyKo FTW
Okay

explain the nickname to me please

From the Rally thread

See here, and below. Search for “psyko”.

This game has the identical runs scored as last time Blackburn faced the Angels.
Crazy....

…8 straight runners get on base to start the 11th. This offense is …frenetic. Reminds me more and more of 2002.

W6G

Fuckin' W6G!!!!

(Had to use up my quota.)

1 year anniversary since joining this blog

Thanks yall. its been a pleasure.
all you guys kick ass.
GOOO HALOS

FYI: Jepsen in the bottom of the 9th

vs. Mauer
96 fastball (called strike)
97 fastball (ball)
96 fastball (foul)
96 fastball (swinging strike 3)

vs. Morneau
97 fastball (called strike)
96 fastball (foul)
84 curveball (swinging strike 3)

Wow.

That’s scary good.

He's always had the stuff. Just more of that padawan learnin' to do.

“Control, control! You must learn control!”

Bringing the crazy mixed up heat
Jepsen looked as effective as I've ever seen him...

…he not only mowed down Mauer and Morneau, he cut though the 3 batters in the 10th, and made it look easy. I hope this continues. He dominated the 6 batters he faced.

Has to be Nap
rangers-mariners playing again...

top 8
M’s got a runner at 2nd 1 out… 5-3 rangers

nice win halos!

been in st. louis since wednesday….great baseball town. if Halos Heaven was a town, it would be st. louis….talk about baseball=religion, wow!!

great comeback tonight, sounds like jepsen and the bulge are coming around….can’t wait ’til we can count on ’dondo again.

Moondoggy, i just reviewed game thread (i know,i love this site) way to represent the GMJ fan club….all 2 of us. :)

Make it 2.75, I'm pulling for him more than I'm not.
The Lou is to the Cards as LA is to the Lakers.
5-4 Texas now

Two out, top of the 8th.

BTW...

Angels now have best winning percentage in AL.

Angels .604
Spanks .602
Sux .588
®Angers .570 (not including todays’ game)

Panther: Chose Abreu

But no prob with Jepsen.

The Angels are a riddle, wrapped in an anomaly.

I love Abreu

He should be Angel player/hitting coach for life.

Single handly has seemed to change the entire approach the team has for at bats. I used to feel like we would get up to an early lead and then give away AB’s. No longer. Every at bat, all game long is a battle. Guys are locked in, make the pitchers work, aren’t afraid to hit from behind in the count and we are freakin CLUTCH!

Abreu is the guy that brought this approach and mindset and the team has really taken to it. Best $5M we ever spent.

I like giving Mickey the credit

just to piss off the “I hate Hatcher” crowd here. I can give Bobby some of the credit for that though. Great eye and patience.

Yeah, it was money well spent.

oo come on, naps has to be on here

but abreu deserves it too

thank you Rev...

for putting a little dig into those media elites who think that the Angels not making a trade is the death of the team.

Also, panther to Jepsen. The dude has made LEAPS AND BOUNDS since I saw him give up 5 runs in one inning of work against the frigging padres Triple A team earlier this year in Portland.

This team does NOT give up

Based on real life stuff, like having an actual serious girlfriend, I haven’t been on as much or watched as many games. But the ones I have, man, this team has heart…

good to hear from you

get that girl to a game!
