Erick Aybar Heatwave Roasts Royals in Rainout Makeup

Final Score in Missouri: Angels 8, Royals 5

Shortstop Erick Aybar had three hits, scored three runs and was in the on-deck circle for a monster Mike Napoli homerun as the Angels took care of the Royals in the first game of Doubleheader Tuesday afternoon.

Ervin Santana did not pitch well, throwing heat with no movement and allowing 8 hits and 5 earned runs, but his 7 strikeouts helped his cause and a bullpen trio of Darren Oliver, Kevin Jepsen and Brian Fuentes shutout the Kansas City squad. Fuentesaurus notched his 29th save.

Star-divide

The Royals did not go gently into that good night, bashing Santana's straight heat, and the Angels did not put away KC Starter Sidney Ponson when they had the chance to. Leading 4-1, Gary Matthews Jr. grounded into a buzzkill double play to miss out on a chance to put away the Aruban Dark Knight for good.

Turn the page and win game two boys.

jeez Aybar you're killing me.....

and making me happy at the same time……..

Seriously you’re like a chick with big boobs and no brains

Hopefully some other team sees the same.
Good Aybar

Increase that trade bait baby!!!

He was this good!

The Panther is the fastball

Specifically Ervin’s fastball (which topped out at 97 mph and was consistently in the mid-90s) and Jepsen (who hit as high as 99 and several at 98).

So... the gun?
Are you asking if the gun was overstating the velocities?

I don’t think so, at least I hope not. Jepsen’s fastball has been in the high 90’s for the past few outings, so today’s readings are consistent. I’m hoping Ervin’s mid-90s fastball that he was throwing today is something he can sustain going forward.

f'n aybar

your making me actually like you now!
