We ate there a couple of times and the burgers were good, but we have been trying to eat stuff we cook ourselves both to save money and to try to lose some weight. That said, we had Chinese take-out tonight.
…the Oscar Mayer weiner-mobile crashed in Wisconsin. The driver was female. She thought she was driving in reverse, but instead was actually going forward. She inadvertently parked it in someone’s garage. That wasn’t home
There are so many potential jokes here, I don’t know where to start. Let the fun begin!
We seem to talk about food an awful lot here, which is a good thing. That other baseball forum which I no longer visit never talked about food, and maybe they should have.
Bakers makes a good burger, Papa Baker with cheese is good stuff. I was wondering why Fatburger wasn’t featured in the poll. But, still the best burger is the often imitated, never duplicated Double-Double. Whenever I leave Cali, the Double-Double is the first thing I want.
You read my mind. After I posted, I kicked myself for not mentioning The Hat, best chili cheese fries and burgers around. And the pastrami sandwiches kick ass.
Yeah. Pastrami sands at The Hat are epic. Nothing pastrami anywhere else, nowhere, comes close.
And a single order of Ch-Ch-fries will feed at least two!
yeah, anybody dialing in from the I.E. should be leading with The Hat. We got one of our own now down in lake Forest. Saves on all all those pilgramages out to Upland.
Rush home from work (commuting by train back then otut of downtown LA, so my pilgramage would begin about 4:00pm).
Change.
Grab the fam and hit the road.
22 West (tough)
57 North (thougher)
Brutal delays plowing through the 60 (even worse during construction)
Up to the 10 East.
Exit Central.
Mecca.
I would have to commute along the 60 out of Industry, and then catch the 215 into San Bernardino, that was one hell of a commute, almost as bad as the 91, or 10 into OC and LA, however, I would eat at The Hat, at least once a week, whats another 45 minutes, on top of a 2 hour commute?
Although no question the Double-Double takes the crown, with a Baker’s Double cheeseburger coming in second. Luckily, there’s one of each within blocks of each other near my house in Riverside. So when In-N-Out is packed, as it usually is, Baker’s is a convienent alternative. Baker’s needs to broaden to throughout So Cal, not just the IE
man...
the Island’s Hula is one heck of a beast too……
vlad IS my man - July 20, 2009
I'd bring 2/3rds of that home. I wouldn't be able to finish it.

Burger and a Movie
Here’s the burgerand here’s the movie
3rd Echelon - July 20, 2009
That trailer alone will give me nightmares.
Looks pretty good.
opiejeanne - July 20, 2009
Yeah. Peter Jacksons invloved...
so it looks pretty promising.
3rd Echelon - July 20, 2009
Other noteworthy burgers...
Carls Jr. Teriyake Six Dollar Burger (personal fave…)
Omega Burger (Chapman Ave.,Orange. West of the circle.)
Stirrups - July 20, 2009
I just had a teriyaki burger yesterday
i was definitely impressed
teopeht - July 20, 2009
my son goes to Chapman U
He recommends Omega. I’ll have to try it next time out
Moondoggy - July 20, 2009
We ate there several years ago.
The food was good.
opiejeanne - July 20, 2009
Old-fashioned artery clogging, coronary inducing, grease-fire flavored, nothing but fatal regrets afterward, burgers.
I recommend ordering 2.
Stirrups - July 20, 2009
I went to Chapman too
go panthers?
teopeht - July 20, 2009
Sheck and Shay's in Simi Valley
red floyd - July 20, 2009
Double Double
I remember when it was a real burger. Same with the Farmer Boys burgers. Now you get nothing for your money
Zookeeper - July 20, 2009
Same with Knowlwood's
Used to be awesome. Now just an overcooked mess.
Stirrups - July 20, 2009
knowlwoods is a chain?
or are you referring to the one on imperial and la palma?
teopeht - July 20, 2009
There is one on Harbor in Fullerton, near the train station.
opiejeanne - July 20, 2009
huzzah
do they have half decent fried zuccini?
teopeht - July 20, 2009
I am sorry to say that I do not know.
We ate there a couple of times and the burgers were good, but we have been trying to eat stuff we cook ourselves both to save money and to try to lose some weight. That said, we had Chinese take-out tonight.
opiejeanne - July 20, 2009
i only ask because the three things i remember about knowlwoods is
irish nachos, fried zuccini, and malt shakes
teopeht - July 20, 2009
What are Irish Nachos?
Epic Dean - July 21, 2009
Yeah, inquiring minds and all that.
opiejeanne - July 21, 2009
Quick search tells me
substitute tortilla chips with waffle cut potato chips and you have Irish Nachos
Epic Dean - July 21, 2009
Well..
Kind of.
More than one location, but not so many as to call them a “chain”.
I live close enough to walk to the Santa Ana restaurant.
Stirrups - July 20, 2009
It all depends upon the cook
unless you’re telling us that the actual ingredients have changed. Please don’t tell me that!

Can I ammend my double double vote to a 4x4

Instead of an Angel game...
…we get a photo of 4 KC fans siting in the rain. Waiting for a game to start. That is re-scheduled. Reading about double-double mega-burgers.
Depressing.
I’m skipping dinner and going straight for dessert!
sothball - July 20, 2009
Try a Hickory Burger
from the Apple Pan…Just east of Westwood Blvd. on Pico in West L.A. Good Apple too!
Doctor Wu - July 20, 2009

Rev Halofan - July 20, 2009
So here's some exciting news...
Let the fun begin!
sothball - July 20, 2009
Was WiHaloFan involved?
It would interesting if someone parked a weiner-mobile in his garage
Moondoggy - July 20, 2009
I was thinking of something more along the lines of...
…Did Oscar’s buns obstruct the view of where his weiner was getting parked?
OK…you’re right. I should just wonder if someone parked a weiner in WiHaloFan’s garage. Sorry.
sothball - July 20, 2009
Nobody's putting their weiner anywhere near my garage
Thank you very much.
I wonder where my wife was?
WiHaloFan - July 21, 2009
This should be a "caption this story" type post
JoseGuillenSux - July 20, 2009
Woman in a pickle. Loses control of sausage, drives into wrong side of bun.
Stirrups - July 20, 2009
How odd
because Oscar Mayer himself just passed away.

We seem to talk about food an awful lot here, which is a good thing. That other baseball forum which I no longer visit never talked about food, and maybe they should have.
opiejeanne - July 20, 2009
it is a chain
original one was on Beverly and Alvarado, many more now throughout SO Cal
Rev Halofan - July 20, 2009

ladybug - July 21, 2009
The nearest one to my house is not very near.
It’s either La Habra or Westminster. I’ll keep them in mind, though.
opiejeanne - July 21, 2009
Does this mean we all win pregame picks??
JoseGuillenSux - July 20, 2009
you need to add frank grimes to your list of RIP’ers. (or grimey, which he liked to be called)
gary matthews jr. jr. - July 20, 2009
I do need to pay my respect to Grimey
JoseGuillenSux - July 21, 2009
Damn
I would be curious to see the results of a waistline poll with some of these responses.
Red114 - July 20, 2009
No love for The Counter?
anaheim angels - July 20, 2009
Going up that far you get Apple Fan and Father's Office. I was closer to home for me...
Stirrups - July 20, 2009
no fatburger king burger with egg and chili
no care….
this poll is biased :(
joeyz34 - July 20, 2009
Fatburger almost made my list.
But I haven’t been to one in a few years so I had to abstain.
Stirrups - July 20, 2009
Out here in the I.E.
Bakers makes a good burger, Papa Baker with cheese is good stuff. I was wondering why Fatburger wasn’t featured in the poll. But, still the best burger is the often imitated, never duplicated Double-Double. Whenever I leave Cali, the Double-Double is the first thing I want.
halofolife - July 20, 2009
Shouldn't you be promoting The Hat?
Stirrups - July 20, 2009
Kudos to Stirrups
You read my mind. After I posted, I kicked myself for not mentioning The Hat, best chili cheese fries and burgers around. And the pastrami sandwiches kick ass.

But Stirrups..
Who wouldn’t love to battle traffic on the 10, 57, 210, 15,91 or the 71 to get a meal at the Hat?
halofolife - July 20, 2009
That used to be the drill.

I wish TK Burger was as big a secret as it appears to be on this board
But that’s cool, the longer I have to wait in line, the longer I get to look at the cuties at the register.

And on a completely different note
40 Years ago today, right about now, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on the Moon.
red floyd - July 20, 2009
Crap.
That was East Coast Time.
755 PM PDT 1055PM EDT: Armstrong steps on the moon. Landing was several hours earlier.
red floyd - July 20, 2009
And when they got back to Earth...
They went to In n Out for a Double-Double, then The Hat for chili cheese fries.
halofolife - July 20, 2009
and promptly spread the moon virus which makes you think that the moon landing didnt happen
and died from clogged arteries
teopeht - July 20, 2009
Wait teopeht...
We landed on the moon? I thought that landing took place in Arizona or area 51, and was totally staged. LOL.
halofolife - July 20, 2009
Capricorn One was a documentary!!

I’d say the best item on the menu, IMO.
Although no question the Double-Double takes the crown, with a Baker’s Double cheeseburger coming in second. Luckily, there’s one of each within blocks of each other near my house in Riverside. And, as ryan517 sez, probably the best item on the pretty good Del Taco menu.
